I m having core.18081 file in my /www/blog directory. Its size is 71.1 MB Shocked ... Wats the use of this file... can i delete this file???

Googling for the file name didnt yield me any results!!
Scorpio
what blog are you using?
shwetanshu
I m using Wordpress
Scorpio
71 mb is too big indeed

It is not a part of wordpress

Try this:

Download the file(if your internet conn is fast enough) and then delete it from its location(ensure that the files size is 71 mb)

see if wordpress works

In case it does, you can forget about that else put it back

Also, if you cant download it, move the file to a different folder in your public_html(create a new folder if you already dont have one) then see if wordpress works

You can try 'moving the file to another folder outside the blog folder'

I dont think that needs downloading stuff

PS: You running on BSNL?
jayandsilo
yeah move it to another folder because it is just like moving it around your hardrive, that means no uploading or downloading times

nopes.. MTNL.. Night UNlimited from 12-8

Did you try the moving the file thing?

You can do that even now..

Also, BSNL is worse they offer unlimited from 2 AM to 8 AM

Shwetanshu, the core file is an "error" dump of php. A few of them where created when the server crashed 2 days ago. My apologies for this.

The file is useless for your website and you are advised to remove it.

I was almost right...

Now you can blow out the file

I'm not complaining about your strategy, it was fine. It's just easier to remove it than to download the file. Wink

I told him to do that, because i was not sure of its need and didnt want to blow out his blog

But i did know it had nothing directly to do with wordpress
