What is a good idle temp for an opty 148?

TheGeek
I just got an Opty 148 processor for my new rig and after using the stock HS/F and AS5 paste on it it is idling i believe around 49-50C. I could be wrong but i think i setup my temp monitor program correctly and if thats the case then isnt that a little high for and idle temp?

I already talked to you about this...

My 146 idles at 26-28 and after massive load or stress testing never goes above 35. It usually stays around 32-33 in game.

I would get an aftermarket cooler for your NB...

cpu manufacturers say as long as its not going over around 55 i think then it isnt causing damage. owever, the rule of thumb is, the cooler you can get it the better it will perform and the longer it will last.

well yea of course cooler is better lol.

anyway, nevermind, this topic is irrelevant now i checked my bios againts what the program was saying and the program is retarded, it was thinking that my northbridge sensor was my cpu sensor...so yea i fixed that and its actually running at 38C so thats def. not as bad. Though i have heard 50C is sorta high for the NB to idle...

Yeah, mine is passively cooled and is ambient. Get the $6 Zalman NB passive cooler...
