Layout problems

Satori
So I am having some problems with my website layout. I would like my background to only be displayed on the sides of the main content box. No matter what I do, I can't seem to accomplish this. The main content box always has a small amount of space between it and the top of the page, allowing the background to tile across this space. This has been frustrating me all day, as I see other pages do what I am wanting to do...for example:

http://www.csszengarden.com/?cssfile=/135/135.css

But even though I seem to be using the same css, I get a different appearance. Can anyone help??

I have had this problem before. I fixed it by specifically setting the padding of all elements to 0px.

I'm afraid that this was a while ago so I can't remember how I did it exactly but I have a hunch that it was the <body> element causing problems.

is there any &nbsp; ag there?
because even when we set all the padding to 0px when there are &nbsp;, there're always apear a small space in the layout.

So I didn't really mean to make this complicated...but I posted this topic in another forum section before I posted it here...I realized that it should have gone over here after I had already posted it. Sorry! So please go look at my posts over here before replying back in here:

AftershockVibe - I don't think it is the padding, as I set it to zero in the body element. As you will see in my post in the other page, I managed to partially fix the problem with a solution that still doesn't make sense to me...but oddly enough works for the top portion and not the bottom. I am having other problems as well...you will see in the above link.

gnabate - There definitely is not a &nbsp; anywhere in the document.

Though one thought I had is that the body element is a block-level element...and if I understand correctly, block level elements always have a break before and after them. I was thinking that this may be the issue...but when I change the body element into an inline element, the background has some issues. So it definitely wasn't a fix.

Thanks for your suggestions...hopefully the code I posted in the above link will help you guys get a better understanding of the fix I'm in!

Keep the ideas coming please! I'd really like to get this worked out properly!

Thanks again!
