Dogs or Cats ?
Which one do you like and why ? Most of people who like dogs don't like cats. For me, I prefer dogs because they seem to be royal.
I love cats, and hate dogs......
I'm actually terrified of dogs because i got attacked by one when i was 5 and it stole my favourite shoe
Cats are cool because you dont have to walk them, they are nice to cuddle, and arent much bother apart from having to keep their food and water bowls full.

im a big fan of dogs...cats just dont cut it. they just lie around and do nothing in my opinion. i enjoy playing soccer with my dog. he just plays goalie and ill kick the ball at him. its a ball which got deflated so it wont hurt him and if the ball goes in the air he;ll jump for it.
he's just an awesome dog and is very playful..

I agree. Dogs Rock! To bad I can't have either....... But every time i possibly can, I am near dogs. They just seem to be a lot cooler and more fun than Cats........ Just my personal opinion.......... Dogs can learn a LOT of cool tricks, and they Seem to be a lot more fun......
I don't know what to say, but I feel Dogs domanate Cats any day.

I guess I am just an animal lover cause I've had both and like both, but dogs are better companions. Cat's are good if you're gone alot, since they don't need alot of attention.
Hmm... I like both. But I love cats better than dogs. Its because almost all of my family love it and cats are so cute. I think they're not too dangerous like dogs (except wild cats and big cats).
I personally prefer a dog but since living on my own, I think a cat would be more managable. I think you should only take on what you can handle and personally, I think dogs you need to give way more attention than cats. Cats are more independent, loners i guess, while dogs have more needs. ie: walks, taken out to potty etc. I love dogs more than cats though.
I really like dogs, but there are some very affectionate cats, which I live very much. They are the type with the affection of a dog but the tidiness of a cat -- the best of both worlds
Cats.
Suits my temperment, I suppose. They come, they go, they dont depend on you for squat. Feels more like a companion than a worshiper
Speaking of squating, there is another reason why I like them. For some reason, I just feel like a fool standing by the side of a road with a baggie waiting for a dog to take a dump
Oddly, my four cats will go for walks with me most places. Each comes back to a seperate whistle, so they dont get to far away.
Not knocking dogs. Ive had a couple, but I keep getting cats.

I like both. I used to like cats more, but my girlfriend has a really funny and cute dog so it kind of changed my opinion. Cats you can't really pet as they seem to be more shy (still they're cool to look at), and most dogs seem to like attention.
So yeah, both. If I'd pick for myself I'd probably say a cat, so that I don't have to walk the dog hehe

I like dogs since they are so loyal and friendly compared to cats.
But don't get me wrong, I like cute cats.
As a matter of fact, as long as they are cute, I like them both! LOL

I like both but I prefer to have a dog because it is very loyal and everytime I came home at night they are always exited to see me. Right now I have 3 dogs, 2 are just local breed dogs and 1 is a labrador.
Dogs also serve's as a security guard during night time and I dont think cats can do that. Cat's sometimes are very disturbing specially when they are doing their love making retual
they are really noisy during night time.

I don't like dogs, first of all because of all the sh*t they produce. You're walking on the grass, and voila another shoe wasted. Secondly, their gasping is weird. At least cats just lie around everywhere all the time, which is great because whenever you just walk into them every now and then. I have two very cute cats btw!
i like dogs because they are alot more approachable.
you do have a point about them making alot more mess but with good training they can be just as clean as cats!

I like cats as they're not as obtrusive as dogs. Whenever I go to my inlaws their dog jumps all over you, slobbers on your leg etc etc. Gets on my nerves.
Cats tend to be a lot more my style I guess. They're not all over you.

Cats are so elegent and cute to be around and in general very clean animals
dogs on the other hand are kind of big messy and difficult to take care of
Got this today and thought y'all might enjoy it.

Dog food! My favorite! 9 pm - Oh boy! Tummy rubs on the couch! My favorite! 11 pm - Oh boy! Sleeping in my people's bed! My favorite! The cat's diary: Day 183 of my captivity... My captors continued to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild satisfaction I get from clawing the furniture. Tomorrow I may eat another house plant. Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded - must try this at the top of the stairs. In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair - must try this on their bed. Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body in an attempt to make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear in their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat I was. Hmmm, not working according to plan. There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell the food. More important, I overheard that my confinement was due to my powers of inducing "allergies." Must learn what this is and how to use it to my advantage. I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a half-wit. The bird, on the other hand, has got to be an informant and speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his current placement in the metal room, his safety is assured. But I can wait; it is only a matter of time. |
I dunno why but i like cats better.
Cats are way better beacuse they are more reliable and easy to use. Lol. Well first of all they arent big and sometimes mean like dogs, they dont slobber over you like dogs, they dont rush to you all the time, they dont bark all the time, they take little neccesities unlike dogs, they dont make too much of a mess, and i am terrified of some dogs!!!
I love dogs, they're loyal. Yet.. I love cats as well. both of my pets live peacefully side by side, I raised them together. ^_^...who here likes fish?
I thinks dogs are very pleasant... And very irritable... But sometimes don't obey me and go itself to outside... Sure, this is animal you don't explain something but it is educated anr don't make this... This is my dogs photo... It is very sweew, isn't it?

You all know I'm a cat person (dogs are cool, too...) but I gotta set the record straight. While she's not as bad as a some dogs, one of my cats will start drooling whenever I pet her! Kinda cute, but some cats DO drool.

And your reason is??
i prefer dogs from cats.. because dogs are more loyal than cats.. in addition, cats are very pretty when they are baby but i think most of them are ugly when they became large. but i like dogs everytime..
I love all animals. I'm a bit of a nature freak in that respect. Cats, dogs...they all have their pros and cons.
I've noticed that, while cat lovers rarely express distaste in dogs, dog lovers often vehemently hate cats. Why is that?

That's a prety good question. I dont really know, but how about this....
Cat lovers, in general, accept a cat as it is. Not looking for performance or obediance, just to share their home with another creature. Dog lovers want a worker, play pal, constant companion, etc. and work with the dog to achieve that. A dog lover looks at a cat and says "cant be trained, aint good for nothing". A cat lover sees a dog as another animal, just not as pretty, regal, calm, etc.
What ya'll think?
Good point, HoboPelican. I'm inclined to agree. Dog lovers do seem to have higher expectations from a pet.
Sometimes owners take on the traits of certain animals, too. I'm a cat, coming and going as I please. My last boyfriend is a dog, terribly loyal once he's decided he likes you. Could those similarities be the appeal?
I know a young woman who's husband is most definately a dog man. He seems to require complete dedication from his peers and loves to be the centre of attention, the one in charge. It's possible that that's why he prefers dogs over cats. In this case, a dog suits his personality.

I've always been a cat person myself
I've always been around both, but I just love cats more. There are some really awesome dogs I've met/had over the years but cats seem to have more of a...deep? personality, or something like that. /grin
They just seem a bit more intelligent and my cat, at least, is so much like me it's creepy.

dogs are way cool than cats. cats just wake up and go away for the day and than come back for some food. Dogs are way more fun because you can train them to do cool stuff and there more fun to have. Cats just go around licking themselves!

What, does your dog use toilet paper?
I actually like both, although I might have to choose cats over dogs as a pet to actually own. Cats are so much more independent which is nice because they will get on with their lives without constant attention. That's not to say that dogs can't be great fun too though.
I like both, I have also had both.
When I were younger we had six dogs and maybe 20 cats, but they were for the mostly wild.
I do not know what I prefer; I like the cats because they are nice to cuddle with, and to have. But with the dogs I know they will come if I call them.

Cat people certainly can't afford to be demanding. Have you ever tried to boss a cat around?

| Why do cats spend so much time grooming?
The typical cat devotes about a third of his waking day to grooming himself. Considering how many hours he devotes to sleep, this may not sound like much, but it translates to about three hours' worth of self-pampering a day. There are several reasons why he grooms himself so fastidiously. Cats clean themselves with their saliva, which is thought to contain a detergent-like deodorizing substance that keeps his coat soft, glossy, and clean. But grooming also has other important functions: it removes dead hair and skin, tones up the muscles and stimulates blood circulation. This is also why mother cats clean their newborns so frequently. http://www.sniksnak.com/cathealth/whydo2.html |

| Why does a cat's tongue feel like sandpaper?
To the cat, the sandpaper feeling tongue is a vital tool. The little prickly things covering the upper surface of the tongue are called papillae, and has hundreds of small backward pointing protuberances constructed of virtually the same substance as human fingernails. The cat uses his tongue like a comb to give himself an extra deep cleaning so that he leaves no odor to warn prey as he sneaks upon it... http://www.sniksnak.com/cathealth/whydo2.html |

Yeah, I thought it might be associated with hunting behavior, but I wasn't sure. Thanks for the reference!
You know, I love my cats and the peace they bring, but isn't it amazing what incredibly efficient killing machines they are? The claws, teeth, reflexes, senses? These guys are just barely domestic.
I agree, HoboPelican. In a way, cats remind me of pidgeons, seagulls, and other birds that have grown used to being fed by humans--they're not domesticated, but they know a good thing when they see it.
One of my cats, a sobby little persian, is rarely ever seen and it not particularly affectionate. When she is, it's on her terms. It's almost as though she's saying "I'm here because I want to be. I let you pet me because I want to be petted. I can leave any time I want."

Dogs are definatly more loyal but harder work and can hinder any plans of day's out or holidays. Cats arn't very loyal and 'use' their human owners for a place to sleep, eat and be spoilet but don't need walking or too much attention.

I'm guessing you don't like cats much. Actually, in my experience, most cats WILL come out and look for you. Typically, whenever I sit down, one of our cats will come and jump in my lap. With very few exceptions, the cats Ive had are very attentive. I think it is all in the attention you give them, just like a dog. If you ignore or push away a dog or a cat they will likely ignore you (except for those perverse ones that just try harder
I prefer cats a lot more than dogs, mainly because they are so cuter! But also cats are less demanding, all you need to do is feed them, clean their catlitter and give them lots of affection and love.

(Okay, I like cats too, but dogs really love you. Cats really love themselves.)
A question for those of you who believe that cats are less loyal than dogs, or that they are "users": have you ever kept a cat? I'll be the first to admit that I addressed a lack of loyalty in my one of my posts, but I was referring to a very independent quality that seems to exude from these creatures, a certain wildness that thousands of years of domestication has not slowly stiffled.
As they are primarily lone hunters in the wild, it's understandable that even domesticated cats sometimes seem to have little time for social interaction, but this aloofness is certainly not a matter of lack of loyalty! Why, when one of my cats happens to 'misplace me', he will walk from one end of the house to the other, crying until he finds me. He is always in the same room as me, to the extent that I have to carry on of his two fur-covered blankets from room to room; it's inevitable that he will join me once he's caught wind that I have left the room.
This is the very root of the point. Dogs and cats have very different natures. Unlike cats, dogs will learn certain behaviour for the joy of learning something new and of pleasing their pack mate. That does not mean that cats do not want to learn fancy tricks--they simply need a little encouragment. The same is true of winning a cat's affection: love it, be gentle with it, interact with it on it's own terms (this is very important because cats don't like to be smothered) and it will eventually come to you.
Some people may argue that the fact that a cat needs to be encouraged to please you means that the cat is not loyal or not as friendly. Ridiculous! Have any of you ever seen or kept a ferret? It's impossible to get a ferret to do anything without treats and constant attention. Does that make a ferret any less loyal or less friendly than a dog? Absolutely not. When one of my two ferrets escaped from his cage and found himself next door at the mercy of their two dogs, the poor thing hid. However, as soon as he saw me he slowly creeped out from his hiding place and right in to my arms.
I hope my tangent did not throw any of you off. I am simply saying that, before you judge cats in the terrible manner that dog-lovers tend to judge cats, consider the nature of the animal. It's not a matter of loyalty and love, but a matter of instinct.

You know what I'm going to have to go with Dogs, for the simple reason Cats annoy me - they sit around doing nothing all day waiting for food.
I am determined to educate the lot of you!
I am assuming that by "sitting around" you are referring to a cat's want to sleep all day. I may be way off track here and apologise if that is the case.
Cats need to be stimulated, too. They need toys and play time and a lot of love, just like dogs. If they don't have lots of things to play with they may get bored, so they'll sleep.
On the subject of sleep, cats sleep a lot because the protein-rich diet of the cat does not require much investment of time, and allows plenty of time for napping; that's their nature.
As for waiting for food, you'll find that that's not the case. A cat will quite happily eat if food is put down for him but, unless it's his usual feeding time, he probably won't say a thing.

So much for cats sleeping more than dogs. At least until somebody finds a better reference!
Dogs and cats are just different.
I've always had dogs, and currently have a 6 yr old female yellow lab.
She is the most loving and gentle dog I've ever seen.
Then I saw a 6 year old Norwegian Forrest Cat at the humane shelter and he just had to go home with me. He follows me around the house like a dog. Has at least 2 dozen vocalizations that he chortles and sings to me. I swear he can say 'hello', 'yes', 'mama', and several other words. I've been teaching him how to say 'uck you'. He's done it about a dozen times. He comes on command and will sit on command, but he's not too keen about shaking hands. He will once in a while if I hold my hand upside down and will rest his on the back of my hand. He weighs almost 18#, and is the coolest cat I've ever met.

Very cool. My wife seems to be able to teach cats to be talkers also. About that many vocalizations, but Id be stretching if I the cat could make recognizable words, although you could see her cats trying. They DID have conversations. The cat would listen until my wife finished (so polite!) and then maomaomeweowmamao, sometimes immitating my wife, sometimes not. Her new cat is doing the same thing now. Ive flat out told her to NOT talk to MY cat.
BTW - That is a very nice looking feline. Glad you found each other.
Thanks HP, Have your bride google 'Norwegian Forrest Cat'

he doesn't like to climb on you, just wants to be next to you.

I prefer cats. They are much smarter than dogs. I know that dogs seems to be clever too, but look at them. They run everywhere you throw something like idiots and are always tiding the floor with their tongue:) The cats on the other site are calm and seems very lazy, but they are just watching their enviroment and they are looking for the threat around them. They are very aware and they looks like qeeuns in the nature. It´s a very nobless animal.
I prefer cats. Simply because, I’m afraid of dogs... T__T Well, not all the time but most of the time. I think they’re cute but I’m scared they’re going to bite me.
Throughout my lifetime (working on 64 years now) I've had the privilege of being owned by many cats. I have the fond illusion of knowing a bit about cats now, but I'm sure that the present sharer of my RV and my life (a fluffy gray and white Maine Coon named Princess Purrrfect) will prove me wrong many times before my race is run.
There is no more soothing sound than a cat purring near my ear, unless it's rain on the roof. A dog constantly barking is one of the most irritating, especially when I'm trying to sleep. I live in RV campgrounds, where your next-door neighbor can be 20 feet away.
Cats are easy to take care of. I change her litterbox every couple of days, make sure she has food and water, comb her frequently, and play with her a bit every day. In return, she purrs, amuses me a lot with her antics, provides me with good company, and comforts me during my rare periods of melancholy.

Dang, someone older than me! Amazing.
As to the sound of a purr vs a bark, I have this to add....
I used to live out in BFE between a set of railroad tracks and a guy who kept coon hounds. Many times I'd wake to the sound of a freight train rumbling by and I'd smile and go back to sleep. And sometimes the neighbors hounds would let out a mounful, deep rolling howl and, again, I'd smile and roll back to sleep. However, the sound that drove me up the freakin' wall was my dumba** neighbor sticking his head out of the window and yelling at his hounds at the top of his lungs to "Shut the f**k up, you d*mn dogs!"
Cats, hounds, trains - Good
Dumb*ss neighbors - Bad

well I really love cats, but i can't say that they're better than dogs, or that dogs are better than cats.. I just think that it depends on each person's personality and lifestyle..
for example, i live in a small house with no garden, so having a dog would be so annoying, barking all the time inside the house..
while having a cat is just great
she's with me all the time... so cats can be very loyal ah
?! I just think they are loyal in a very different way than dogs

while having a cat is just great
I've always been a dog person. I grew up with dogs. Whether they are trained or not, they all are loyal. On top of that, I love their childish and playful minds.
I'm ok with cats, but I think they are too proud. They never think that we are their boss, not even a friend.
Smart dogs do what you tell them to do.
Smart cats won't do those things. They always sit back and relax, look down on those stupid dogs.

I can still be arround them for a while though, and from my experience cats are sooo much better than dogs. I pretty much hate dogs, but cats on the other hand, arn't that bad

Hi!
I personally prefer cats.
Of course, that does not mean that I hate dogs(!) but I usually find cats more cuddly (hmmm, well, when they have decided to be so, of course
.
A cat is usually more quiet than a dog and more independent and that's something that I like too.

I prefer dogs really to cats. In total I've had about 6 Dogs ranging from Alsatians to Jack Russells. I've had a few cats, but I always will prefer dogs, they are just more loyal and involved with the house.
dogs and cats equally...my dogs and cats have always gotten along they love each other.....i like dogs a bit more because they arent so lazy and they play fetch

Just curious, which did you have first, the dogs or the cats? Thinking about getting a dog, but Im a bit worried about how to bring a dog into a house of cats.
Anyone else have ideas on this?

1.jermy the old one
2.pooky the leader
3.littlebit a small dog
4. rosy who is really have coyote and half dog

Why not have both? My cat Misty and my dog Bickie get along with each other very well. I am glad that I dont have to make a choice between cats and dogs, cuz they cant be compared to each other. All different categories, not just pets.
I prefer dogs because they seem to be Sympathetic.

I found a few good links out there:

Have a read. It should help.
i love dogs, they are so loyal and friendly
Its a hard call this one, I lovedogs for their unquestioning loyalty, how they come to you on request and seem to offer more interaction n stuff, but cats can come close you know.
My cat used to sense when i was sad and come sit on my lap and rub her head into me purring and almost trying to cheer me up.
OK, cats will often just ignore you, and they certainly always do their own thing whatever it is, I will say though, that when a cat chooses to come to you, it means more than a dog doing it in my mind, because they actually choose it. Dogs on the other hand seem to just like whoever feeds and walks them - i dont know, but cats are definately easier to look after!

Im a dog lover cats are to independent for my liking I want more affection and less hair loss lol
i think cats are better for all these reasons:
- cats are more cleaner
- they won't eat your keys or your money
- cat's are calm but some of them are so crazy and u will have fun playing with it and u won't need to go outside so u can play
- cat's don't eat much and thier food is not expensive
- cat's don't lick
- they don't make much noise all the time

I agree with HoboPelican's theory.
However, I deem myself and my aunt exceptions to that.
For starters, my aunt loves dogs above all else, she's like the one-person rescue squad for them (since in China animal have about zilch rights) but being that, she doesn't mind cats either. In fact, she rescued a pregnant cat and the mother and kittens (now adults) loved her as much as she loved them. they were abnormally obedient, loyal, and people-loving. The male offspring likes it when she pats/hugs/etc him and he tags along with my aunt where ever she goes (he'd lay on the desk when my aunt's on the computer and so on)
For me, when I was little, I grew up around cats and I liked em although they didn't very much like me *sweatdrops* I especially liked them as a kid because they were cuter and more elegant looking than sloppy dogs. But then I got a dog (a pomeranian, yeah I had to go for pretty even with dogs) and I love him to death <3 So now I can say that I'm more of a dog person than a cat person. But I still like cats =D they are cool and standoffish because thats just how they are, dogs and cats each have their pros and cons. I actually plan on having 2 dogs and a cat later when I get my own house XD

When I was single, I had 4 cats that would go for walks with me. I taught each cat to come to a different whistle, so if they strayed to far, I could always bring him/her back. It was pretty funny. Two of them were actually pretty good at playing fetch.
cats just need a REASON to listen to you
there should be a poll added to this topic! there was the same topic at some other forum where i'm at and it came out pretty cool!
i'll go with dogs any day. they're loyal, friendly, u can tell what they feel from their behaviour! they're much more attached to their master then cats.
cats on the other hand will stay at a house just because they get fed there. and because they're mostly kept inside of course
i live in a countryside, and i know people who "have" cats, but the thing is they only see them for feeding. the rest of the day they just wonder around and come back when they're hungry. that much for a pet!
dogs, of course, are guardians!
dogs rule, yeah

Cats are independant.
Dogs are dependant.
Hence dog lovers are typically insecure and require a relationship (personal, occupational etc) based on having to control something easily controllable and equally dependant.
Cat lovers are secure enough to engage in relationships which require trust and the ability to keep a relationship going based on individual desires and needs.
Me? I love 'em both.

Could someone please explain to me why getting attacked by an animal at a young age traumatizes people so much? I've gotten attacked by both dogs and cats multiple times during my young years:
Mauled by a dog at 3.
Face and back scratched up by a friend's cat at 5.
Flight from a dog when my family tried to make me ride it; I was around 3.
Almost lost an eye to my cat; I think I was 5 or 6.
Got pissed on by a dog at the age of 7 when I wasn't looking.
The list goes on. However, I never got mad at/scared of the whole species when one animal attacked me. In fact, I always make gains to approach animals to make them fonder of me. Thats why I love both dogs and cats. Dogs are great because they're awesome play mates. Cats are great because they do amazing stuff and are just loving animals. Whether or not an animal is fun to be around all depends on how you treat them.
Obviously, if you keep picking up a cat by its hind legs, squeeze its face, and start screaming into their face whilst spitting "Who's a coochie coochie coo kitty witty wuvly cat?!", they're going to try to stay away from you all day and make it seem like they don't do anything. And trying to chase the cat down will make it worse. Let the cat make an approach. And don't do anything that will pull the cat from having control of its own body.
The primary reason people seem to not like dogs is because they either seem dangerous or are messy. Being messy is a matter of either training them or not minding it. Thats why they're good play mates: when you play, you don't mind getting messy, and neither do they. Being dangerous is the same as cats avoiding you. Make the right approach, and you have nothing to worry about. And even if they were trying to hurt you, they can't really do anything. They're dogs! Not wolves.
Probably the most important tip when approaching an unfamiliar dog or cat is to let the animal know that you're friendly. What I find most effective is to lower yourself to the animal's level, make a slow approach, and don't make sudden movements. Let the animal smell you so they can register you and then proceed to pet them, etc.
But back to the point, so far I've preferred cats. I've had a brother my whole life that I could play around with and therefore didn't need a best friend relationship that a dog provides. However, my cat always gave me the caring love I needed. I remember there wasn't a single time I was hurt either physically or emotionally that my cat didn't come to console me. And even when my brother wasn't around, my cat made a great playmate too.

I prefer cat's over dogs, There not as annoying. You don't need to take them for walks or anything. The only thing about cats is that they shed all over the place which isn't a good thing if some people have allergies and it can be a pain to clean the Litter Box.

I like both. I also have the best kind of each.
The cat is called "notma" because he actually belongs to the next door neighbour. Say it out loud "notma cat". He prefers my company and spends all day lounging about in my yard and then goes home when he's hungry. Beat that!
The dog belongs to my aunt. I visit every couple of days and take him for a walk. He's well trained, well behaved and even more unfit than me. We are matched quite well because we both have legs full of stainless steel pins and walk just at the right speed for each other. When walkies is over I hand him back and go home.
No vet bills and all the benefits of pet ownership.
Of course, the lack of responsibility for cats or dogs doesn't allow for the quail, rat and two guinea pigs that share our house. We did have a cat but she died last year.
I love them both, but cats are a little lower maintenance, along with being cheaper...I think i favor cats a little bit because of how smart they are.
Don't anyone even think about saying that dogs are smarter...actually pigs are smarter than both of them come to think of it. please excuse my short attention span.
yes, i would probably have to say i like cats.

I read the same thing about pigs back in college. Just because they aren't cuddly and taste great, we consider them livestock!
The whole intelligence thing is sort of funny. We still argue about how to measure intelligence in humans, so how are we gonna measure it in another species? In humans, they are saying that there isn't just one type of intelligence, but many (verbal, math, spatial, kinesthetic, etc) so that one can excel at one and be deficient at others (makes some sense). I imagine it is the same with critters.
So, which is smarter, the dog who will do tricks for food or the cat who thinks "screw this, open the door and I'll feed myself"? No real answer. I think it's more important to just realize what you want from a pet and get one that works for you.
dogs: way more personality, it's hard to deny
cats: wayyyy way easier to take care of
cats: wayyyy way easier to take care of
dogs
I say dogs because it's undeniable that they're smarter and you can teach them tricks. Cats are mostly unresponsive and strange, which can be entertain sometimes. YEP!
| mabuhay wrote: |
| I say dogs because it's undeniable that they're smarter ... |
Really? I question it quite easily. As I said before, intelligence is hard to measure and there is more than one aspect to it. I won't argue that dogs are more willing to perform tricks to make the alpha dog (the owner)happy, but that possibly has more to do with dogs being a pack animal than overall intelligence.
So if you want a pet that will do tricks for you without much work, you should get a dog. But don't call it ithat ntelligence
i like cat s,beacuae they look so cute
I am a "cat man" myself. Nothing wrong with dogs - I just hate it when the jump mud all over my new pants! Maybe i just need to lighten up a little?
Cats have grace and subtleties that dogs dont have, and they make great snugglers! Dogs are cool too, and at least they get excited when you come home. My wife and I had a dwarf rabbit for a time, but it was never excited to see you, it just sat in its cage and shivvered with fear whenever we were around! So we gave it back to the shop! Maybe we were just bad owners?
Anyway, cats it is!
Anyway, cats it is!
Dogs. Cats are too tempermental (at least all the ones Ive had or seen).
Also, there is more of a companion feeling with dogs, for me at least.

Cats all the way. My girlfriend has a cat that I absolutely love. I recently moved in with her, so I get to spend all the time I want with the kitty. It's great. I grew up with cats and have always preferred them to dogs. Though I enjoy dogs as well, I just would choose a cat over them
My beautiful little kittens is so god damn cute, Missan and Chaos.
Chaos is just dumb to the bone while Missan is the smart female controller, it´s funny to see chaos do her bidding when he thinks that he wanted it in the first plase... lol

In my opinion I think you are selfish and also mean then you do not like children and real friends.
Cats are partly wild annimals.
If you have an animal or baby or friend you must take some responsibility for them. Animals like humans need attention and care.
How much you give so much you have.

She doesn't like children or friends? I don't see that implied anywhere. I also don't think she was implying that she takes no responsibility towards them. I think what she was saying is simply that cats need less upkeep than dogs. You don't need to walk them, just clean a cat box when needed. Cats, in general, seem to be able to amuse themselves just fine without human intervention (of course, if it's an indoor cat, that amusement might not amuse their owner!
Anyway, to call Becky mean and selfish is quite a leap.
i have a cat and i love it very much
I like cats better than dogs, although I own both. Cats have more personality (which sometimes means more attitude, but I find that cute and entertaining), and unlike dogs, they always smell good.

LOL! As a long time cat lover I have to politely disagree. There is nothing, and I mean nothing worse than a cat fart! It can clear a room in seconds!
Hey do they really can fart? never seen one before
Oh yeah! and from personal experience ANY cat fart is worse than schnauzer, labrador, shih tzu or human gas.... I love cats dearly, but OMG, if you have a cat with intestinal issues, you have a rocky road until cured!

that happened a couple of times unlit two months ago I’ve found a solution in a form of dry food that my Angie really liked and I didn’t have to force her at all !!!

In my experience dog lovers who hate cats, like dogs because they’re relatively easy to dominate. Dogs are wired to exist in a pack and they accept being dominated by the pack leader. The way to get into a cat’s head is to realize that he doesn’t need you the way a dog needs to be part of a pack. Cats are self sufficient and they choose to be with you because they find you interesting. They learn through observation and mimicking and they see humans as big, slow but clever cats, that’s why they’re so curious. When they watch you doing something they’re trying to figure out how they’re going what you’re doing. They also have super senses and the reason they look down on some people is because their brain might be smaller than ours but physiologically they’re a far superior design. Cat lovers like giving animals their space to be what they were created to be. Dog lovers who hate cats have a need to be superior to something and expect animals to behave according to their will. I suppose it boils down to respect and acceptance versus possession and control.
I don’t mean to offend anyone I’m just thinking out loud, any ideas?
Dogs... Im not saying that im just a dog person but i like dogs more then cats. which after i tell u the next part u may think is hard to belive lol. Completely disagree, I think every cat is different. My friend has a cat an its always sitting on us and dunno givin us some kind of affection.
Dogs are good companion too(personally I prefer German Sheppard I think is more loyal than eny other dog) but dunno if they can express that way.

Hey everyone
All animals are great! I currently have a cat and a hamster. I did have a dog but he died about a month ago... the best dog in the world! He was mixed with probably every breed you can think of, small and fit through a cat flap! He reached 13 which is pretty good for something which may be classed as a terrier! I love cats too but dogs are probably a favourite for most as you can do things with them like walking... errr, actually my dog didnt do much else hehehe!
My hamster is great and has recently worked out how to climb the ceiling of his cage. He has escaped once and it took quite a while to catch him as he is a very fast little guy!
Why do fair ground goldfish only live a week compared to years for a petshop version...?

I love dogs for many reasons. When people and dogs do things together it is good news all around. Many of these activities provide the structure that helps people learn to better communicate with their dogs. The dogs have a better opportunity to learn good manners. That makes them easier to live with and less likely to be given up. The activities help people get in touch with one another to share information. That also helps people to learn about dogs, to avoid problems, and to solve them in a healthy way. The activites provide exercise in a fun way that boosts the relationship. The exercise, in turn, reduces boredom. A dog that exercises with its human is less likely to have behavior problems. A wonderful side benefit is that these activities can be a mental boost for humans and dogs alike.

dogs are loyal more then cats and they are coming near to you and licking u and jumping on u but cats are troublemakers they are spitting hair balls on the floor and scratching the curtains then u should buy urself a dog
I think dogs becausy are both, I have 2 beagles and, They arvery loyal except one. My dogs have disability's though. My first beagle named Jed got paralyzed for no reason at all and, My second one jake is a little slow because he ate Fettilizeer. But i still love them both dearly. If i were too get a new dog it would probably be a beagle again. I like the way they protect your house and be cuddly when you want them too. Are your dogs guard like or cuddly or both?
i prefer cats they look more elegant and are clean animals.
I like both but am more inclined towards dogs as they are loyal and a great companion to have around. Besides i've grown up with dogs since i was a kid.
i had dogs and cats many years
love dogs more than cats though
it seems that there's deep relationship between me and dogs; they are in my many beautiful memories

I'm actually terrified of dogs because i got attacked by one when i was 5 and it stole my favourite shoe Cats are cool because you dont have to walk them, they are nice to cuddle, and arent much bother apart from having to keep their food and water bowls full. |

What is disgusting about a cat? Typically, they are much cleaner than any other pet. I can understand someone not liking them, but hating them? Seems bit extreme. Why do you hate them so? Did you get scratched as an infant?
One thing that I have noticed (after a bit of a hiatus!) is that the people that start "cat vs dog" forums are usually dog lovers. Hm. Queer.

Dogs are my personal preference. They are more loyal than cats and dont have all the attitude issues.
I have a dog and two guinea pigs.
With cat: Dog eat cat, cat eat guinea pigs, guinea pigs eat salad. <Bad
Without cat: Dog eats dog food, no cat, guinea pigs eats salad. <Good (exept for the salad
)
Because of that i like dogs the most.

Hmm, don't have any of them but I would say cat. Reason is that they are always curious... really fun to play with a kitten. But yes dogs are men's best friend.. you can teach them to do certain acts that would just be impossible with cats. Cats sometimes can be selfish.
So in concluding, I think I would just go for a hamster

it's just a question with what you're raised up with, if you had a dog all your life you'll tend do dogs, and if you had a cat all your life, you'll tend to cats, and when you have one you'll always will say you like that one better because it's either obiedient and loyal, or has it's own will and is lazy as hell..
that's why i like my cat, never listens to me!Well tat's not totally true, we trained him to stay of the lether couch and never to scratch anything, and he's loyal, I got a supercat, and he looks like Garfield!and he even acts like him, all he does is eat and sleep, i love him :p

I think I love to have a dog rather than a cat in our house. But I would not complain if I have a dog or a cat in our home as long as the two pets have a good relationship. =) But if ever I'll have a chance to have a dog, it would be a siberian husky, i really love dogs that has a proud posture plus very friendly dogs. Too bad they are not cheap to maintain so for now no dogs for me, or no siberian husky for now. =)

I love cats, the way that They are so free spirit - so nice and so smart.
DOGS, I HATE THEM.
I don´t like dogs, they are "pigs", anoing and of course, the natural enemy of cats.

I would have to say that dogs as a whole are more fun and more enjoyable. As little ones cats are easier to care for and probably are more fun to play with, but as they get into adult life dogs definitely are more people oriented and faithful. That is if they have been trained and have learned some sort of obedience.
Speaking of obedience training, how difficult or different is it in trying to train or teach cats vs dogs?

Cats better! I like them
I used to love cats, but then I became highly allergic to them, so I've had to convince myself that I don't like them. It's been about 23 years now, and I think it's starting to take.
I like dogs, but my dog is too loud. When I got him, he had just arrived from a long car ride from Virginia to Massachusetts. He was 6 weeks old and the runt. He was very quiet, but it turns out that was just because he was tired.
As it happens, he's a mix of a Walker hound and a black lab, and the hound in him makes him quite noisy. Not only does he bark, but he barks a lot. And his hound bark is just about one of the loudest barks I've ever heard.
Oh well. At least I know when someone is approaching my house from miles away.

I like both cats and dogs. I thought long and hard but can't pick one over the other.
I grew up with dogs but learnt to respect cats for the way they go through life as the boss.
Dogs do as they are told and love you, cats tell you what to do and put up with you (of course they can be loving too).
You have to love both species for their different takes on life.

I have a cat like that. His name is Renfield, because he eats bugs. (Dracula, anyone?) He looks like a grey teddy bear. Here is a picture - http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l165/irksomekitty/Cats/Renfield.jpg - he looks grouchy because he doesn't like the flash on the camera.
I am acquainted with a cat-hating dog lover who picks this cat up and cuddles him, baby talks to him and generally fusses over him when she comes over, if that tells you anything.
Anyway, he is probably one of the stupidest creatures ever to live, but he's very friendly. Almost TOO friendly, in fact, when guests come over he meows at them incessantly until they say hello and pet him. Then he jumps into people's laps, purring idiotically, and if he really likes them, he drools on them, just like a dog. Oh, and did I mention he weighs 18 pounds? It's funny when he jumps up on somebody, as long as it's not me , it's like having somebody drop a furry bowling ball in your lap.
i prefer dogs, atleast they are good protectors unlike cats who run away on seeng someone...
A cat can be great for a smaller space or if you aren't home all the time.
A dog is great if you need more companionship and like to go on walks/runs etc. They type of dog would be of interest here too. IE.. A smaller dog might require less space but they tend to be yappy and annoy the neighbors.
It depends on where you live and how much time you can devote to your pet. Dogs require a lot of attention and exercise while cats can ignore you for long periods of time and require very little exercise.
They both need medical attention but I think the dogs I've had have been more expensive than the cats overall.

I prefer dogs! I hate cats! They are pure evil! Do you want to know something about cats? There was a man in a town nearby where I live, and he died in his barn. The cats that he took care of began to starve because he wasn't feeding them anymore, so they ate him! Isn't that frightening! A dog would NEVER do that! If that man had had a dog, the dog would have attacked the cats for eating him. Dogs are loyal! Cats are spoil!

Hah! Go to Google and type "dog eats owner". LOL. You will get plenty of examples of dogs eating owners. Example:http://www.nbc10.com/news/3378490/detail.html
I still think its interesting that dog lovers usually hate cats and cat lovers usually like either, but simply prefer cats. To me, this says that cat lovers are animal lovers in general. Dog lovers also tend to have serious misconceptions about cats...and have no interest in hearing that they are wrong.
Oh well, for me the difference between picking up dog doodoo twice daily versus cleaning out a cat box occasionally is only one of the many advantages of cats.
I love both dogs and cats for different reasons.
Dogs are your friend, companion, and always there to make you smile when you need one. They are there to protect you and snuggle with you. They do require lots of attention and direction though.
Cats, well they don't need you at all really. They allow you to be their friend, or pet them. If you don't behave the way they want they will ignore you. But if you are a good pet you will be rewarded with their affection.
Which do I like more...depends on the day.

I wrote before that I hate dogs.
Well, not exacly change my idea but...
We can say that I guess some could be very cute. My nephew brought a little petboul for home and different that saying about this kind of dog, he is so calm, so sweety - like my cat.
I felt for it.
Strange hun.

I prefer dogs more than cats . My family never owns a cat before , and owns 4 dogs..
i would definately say dog, a mans best friend ever. i find cats offensive an mean and sleek. dogs are friendly and adorable..
Can't we just have them both? I love cats and dogs, so I have these two species living together in my house and you know what they get along pretty well. May be because both of them have chance to know each other when they were really young.
Normally a dog would go chasing trying to bite a cat ass. However if you feed them right I think it is possible to have both of them in your house.

I LOVE dogs, HATE cats. Until recently I have always had a dog. Now my children are a little older we are looking for one again. My favorite breed is the Boxer dog, it is so intelligent and such a great looking dog. I would like to purchase a puppy, but wouldn't go anywhere for one other than a reputable breeder. I think that puppy farms and pet shops just out for a quick buck should all be done away with. The price of a pedigree puppy seems very high but I think reflects the care and attention these breeders take on rearing the litters, and preparing them for a good home.
Cats, in my opinion would sooner spit on you than show any kind of unconditional love. they are EVIL i tell you, EVIL!

DOGS ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!
I have a 10 month old American Staffy and he is just a joy to be around. No matter how bad a day I have had a work when I come home and he sees me pull into the driveway he jumps into the air and runs around filled with excitement as its the best part of his day and all your problems and stress from the day are instantly miles away.
Ive never seen a cat welcome their owner with anything more than a meow or to rub themselfs on your leg. Alot of cat owners say that a cat will look after themselfs all you need to do is give it some food and water.... so a cat is a pet for lazy ppl then? taking my dog to the beach or the park is one of the highlights of my day, its both relaxing and good for you. It makes you get out of the house go for a walk and breath some fresh air, not to mension all the ppl you meet who are walking their dogs. Just about 7 out of 10 dog owners will stop and say hello while your dogs greet and play with each other.
Im sorry but cats are just no where near the loving loyal pals that dogs are. I have never met a cat who was not selfish
they care only for themselfs and you are only a source of food and to get their tummy rubbed.

How often do you see a trained cat? just about every dog obeys the basic comands. I spend 10mins a day with my dog teaching him new things, they love the stimulation, he can do close to 80 different tricks and he just loves to show off!

Maybe its because most dog owners TRY to train their pets and most cat owners are happy not to? My cats have always learned what I thought important. Use the litter box and come when I whistle. I don't have a need to make an animal perform tricks for me
I guess I simply don't equate intelligence with learning tricks. You ever see those videos where people have trained squirrels to run an obstacle course for food? Performing tricks involves intelligence, but motivation is very important also. Dogs are pack animals and your approval and treats are all the motivation they need...most cats would rather go hunt their own food than perform for "treats".
I prefer cats because dog takes too much time for me. I rather spend that time on better way. As glabase said: loud and stupid. I really couldn't stand if I would have 24/7 barking dog.
DOGS! I would rather live with a dog than a cat because, dogs are more enjoyable than cats, they will play with you more, it seems like they need you more, which i like because then you know that it likes you and cares about you. With cats the only time they ever want my attention is if they want more food, they never want to play. I have one cat and one dog, but i really like my dog better!
DOGS definately
I dont really like cats...

I used to only like dogs but know I like them both. Especially since I do photography, taking pics of cats is really fun because I love their eyes. Overall though if I was to get a pet it would definately be a dog. Dogs get the edge for my vote.
the best thing about dogs is they always seem pleased to see you ! We are looking at the moment around all the rescue dog kennels for one. I hope we find that special one soon !

I think any starving anaimal would do that to survive - even a human in some cases (that instance of the plane crash in the mountains and the survivors turning to cannibalism).
I used to write to a police officer in the Phoenix Police Department and she told me about the time she was called to a suicide where a guy had killed himself with a shotgun shot to the face.
When she arrived at the guy's apartment and got inside my friend found his cat was busy eating from the large hole in the back of the man's head and was guarding his lunch preventing anyone getting near the body.
Personally, I love both cats and dogs! I don't believe that who loves dogs hates cats and vice-versa. Who says that about themselves doesn't love animals, love only the idea of having an animal. Because you don't love boys more than girls, right?? Or, if you do, would you love less your girl that your boy?? Let's face it, people don't divide into cat-persons and dog-persons, they divide into love-animal-persons and dislike-animal-persons.
I love both dogs and cats! And deer, and birds, and snakes, and.... Each with it's pro's and contra's. Dogs are friendly, cats are nice company, birds enchant your ears, deer are gracefull... And so on. So, from now on, when you will be tented to say "I like cats for dogs", think that they are all animals and don't desurve special treatments!
See ya!

I also like cats and dogs, but I would prefer dog than a cat. Dog's are easier to train, they're loyal and loving. I saw a cat scratch it's owners face when the owner kissed the cat's nose. Cat's sometimes scratch your couch, your bed, and your curtain. Man, those cats have SERIOUS issues.
Well as for dogs, you can train them to behave themselves. Sit, stay, play dead and all that tricks.
So therefore I conclude that dogs are smarter than cats. But hey, what the heck, that's my oppinion.

I prefer dog's also because the fact that they are alot more protective and more than usual they bond more than a cat. Cats also are very diffrent than dogs because they only want attention when they want it, dogs on the other hand want it all the time along with the fact that they like to hide all day and all night untill its time to eat or they want attention!
I say dogs! I have 2 Siberian Huskies and I have 2 cats (my cats don't live with me cause my dogs and cats don't get along). My cats are fun and I love them to death! But my dogs aren't scared of people and love to be center of attention! One of my cats is an outdoor cat so she never really NEEDS people but she does love kids. My other cats is weird he does a bunch of strange things (sometimes I think he is part dog). My one Husky is AMAZING, he is great with everyone and he never does anything bad (I'm sad cause he is getting old...he is 11 this year!!) My other Husky is a little strange. She is part cat and loves to climb and scratch her nails on trees. Both of my dogs are great with people! Both my cats are, like other cats, lovable and cuddly (at times).
Sorry that I got a little off subject!
My vote is for dogs! I'm not quite sure why though. I guess its cause I'm more a dog then a cat!
Sorry that I got a little off subject!
uhh. I guess my opinion doesn't really count because i have never had a dog before. I have three cats right now and i love them. Pretty sweet, though they dont really do anything, besides the occasional cuddle....
i prefer dog because dog likes me more than cat. my house use to have cat and dogs but my cat doesn't like me... and my dog use to playing around with me. so my choice is dog.

I prefer dogs as well. I am allergic to cats, so I have a bias
Cats generally have a attitude, where dogs are much more loyal.
Dogs all the way.
Dogs are cool since they are strong. But one very important thing, have you guys heard that there has been rat poison in animal food across the U.S. it has killed so many pets. So if you live in the US please watch what you feed your pet, because it might kill it.
dogs are relly royal as you say and fun to play with but cats you dont need to take care of them they clean themselfs you only need to give them food!
For me I definatly like dogs better they need you more your not being used and abused like a cat the only reason cats let you pat them is because they want to be patted. But I supose there are some people that would like that. I just like the fact that with dogs you are loved by them that all the feeding and training pays off.
I currently have a dog and used to have a cat and I dearly loved them both!!! Dogs are more playful, but cats don't need as much attention and are more affectionate (sp?). I love them both

I SAY BOTH WHAT'S EVEN FUNNER IS WHEN YOUR PETS HAVE PETS. MY DOG IS MY CAT'S BEST FRIEND FIRST!!! LOL DOGS ARE BETTER FOR OUTSIDE ADVENTURES AND EASIER. TO BOND WITH A CAT, YOU GOT NEED PATIENCE FOR THE SASSY ATTITUDE.
I have cat and dog. Dogs are smarter, but need more attention.
I like both animals, but I prefere a dog. A dog is loyal and some people know them as "Man's best friend". With a dog.. I can play fetch with it, and with a cat I cannot. Cats are not as playful as dogs are. Also, cats tend to be lazy and sleep all day. (mostly)
I love both animals and have both as pets. I love cats though, I'm a bit of a clean freak and they keep themselves cleaner! I know how people say cats aren't very clingy and don't need your attention but mine seems to, in fact her literally clings on you and whenever we're off on holiday he sits inside the suitcase to stop you from going
I do love my dogs though, they are adorable, we've got small dogs, I'm slightly afriad of bigger ones
I love them too
I am a cat person.
But I like dogs. Why is it so many cat people like dogs, but dog people tend to hate cats?
I like dogs, they're funny and sweet. But they need more training and attention, and have doggy body odor, which I find highly objectionable. And they're more inclined to slobber. I prefer cats because they are cleaner and more self-sufficient.
Well, except for MY cats. They're clean, but they are spoiled rotten, and constantly demand attention. I have friends who are dog people who love my cats, because I raised my kitties to be friendly.
There is a stupid misconception floating around that excessive handling of kittens will cause them to sicken and die. NOT TRUE, unless your hands are filthy. If you are going to handle a baby ANYTHING, you should have clean hands. Simple common sense, little babies don't have fully developed immune systems, no matter what the species.
If you want an affectionate cat, you need to pet and play with it a lot as a kitten.
I have a cat who is (mostly) as affectionate and good-natured as a dog, but he was petted, played with, cuddled, snuggled, trained, and talked to like a puppy since he was a tiny baby.
He's still a cat, mind you. He once in a while gets in a snit (usually being jealous of the other cat) and stalks off with his nose in the air and won't have anything to do with me for a while, but he's generally very friendly and easy-going. And he won't any longer put up with any gross affronts to his dignity now that he's getting on in years - he'll be sixteen this coming September, and I don't blame him in the least. He's getting old and creaky, and after all these years of adoring me without reservation, he deserves a little respect for all the times he has graciously permitted himself to be dressed up in Halloween costumes and silly hats for my amusement.
And my girl cat is an insufferable little witch. She's very pretty, elegant, and dainty. And she obviously knows it, you can almost see her smirking as she prances around the house on her tiny pink-padded paws. But I think that's a female thing, not a cat thing. My boy cats don't act that way.
Anyway, this cat/dog debate is pretty much pointless, I've also had birds, fish, and rats for pets, and they all have good points and bad. Which pet is right for you is based on your own personality. I like cats and birds, which are mutually incompatible. I have cats.
But I like dogs. Why is it so many cat people like dogs, but dog people tend to hate cats?

I have cats.
a dog will fetch a ball if you throw it. a cat will just stand there thinking your an idiot.
which ones smarter?
which ones smarter?
I like dogs for many reasons.
Dogs they are more loyal and they don't get mad easily unlike cats. I got scratched my friend's cat so many tiems.
dogs and cats equally...my dogs and cats have always gotten along they love each other.....i like dogs a bit more because they arent so lazy and they play fetch

I like dogs, because their are loyal and obidient. Cats just eat, sleep and take life easy. A cat will nearly never do what you ask it to do, but a dog does.
As the old saying goes "A dog is man's best friend!"
I was too lazy to read all 7 pages, so I only read 1, 2 and 7.
Oh my, I'm an animal lover.
Back when I had a TV in my room, 90% of the time it was either ME (local station) or Animal Planet.
I really do love both, but I'm gonna have to go with dogs on this 1.
Why you may ask?
Simple.
Personal experience.
Every single cat I've met has, IMO, had a split personality.
I swear, freaking schizophrenic kitties.
I'd be petting them 1 second and the next, claws all in my hands and arms.
They even bite too.
Other than that, I really do like cats.
Except when they get in heat, meowing all night long, ughhhhh...
(Yes, I know you can fix cats.)
Now let's see, dogs.
I've had [a] dog(s) ever since I was a little kid.
A few years back though, I found the absolutely perfect dog.
A pug, and yes, this was not a choice based on the damn MIB movie.
She is relaxed when I want her to be, sleeping around the house or most often my bed between my legs.
Extremely affectionate, she often brings her stuffed animals to me to play with her.
She licks my face, and yes, I know what dogs do with their tongues.
I'm just in absolute love with her, besides, pretty much all bacteria aren't species transferable.

I definitely don't hate cats, their instincts just scare me sometimes.

I like dogs than cats. I had a puppy and we used to play with it. The dog is honest and will never let down his master. Also one can teach a dog to do extraordinary things.
I read a story about dogs wherein the author and his siblings taught how to jump over 5ft wall, carry a heavy wooden log where his masters wanted him to put etc. They even taught him to swim.

Sad thing just happen to me. I hit a dog while I was driving my car going out of Bangkok to travel in another city.
The dog ran across a 8 lanes highway. I was at the speed of 140 km/hr. No way that I could stop my car in time. So I designed to hit to dog and safe my car from spinning by breaking it.
of course the dog dead....

I preffer dogs cause they are big and strong but loyal for they master
I absolutely adore cats. My boyfriend does too. he adopted three kittens but two died. a couple of days later he found a single kitten roaming around their backyard, it was kinda wild and up til now it would go near anyone, although it does come when you have food. cats are great coz they don't need much attention unlike dogs

i hate dogs..coz I am scare if the dog bite me...seems to pretty dangerous
i like dogs so much better, you can do so much more with a dog, and dogs are so much friendlier, dogs love you because you love them, cats only like you cuz you feed them, and take care of them, but if they didn't need you, they wouldn't stick around.
I plan on eventually getting a big german shepard, and a little fluffy dog, thats super cute
I remember when I was little petting a cat, then it turned around and CHOMP! right on my hand, i got a bad cut

i prefer dogs to cat, but not all dogs. I don't have dogs of my own but i'll love to own one i think very soon.
I've stayed in houses with both puppies and full grown blood hounds, i really prefer the puppies better when the are puppies than when they are grown, and yes grown dog are better security wise.
CATS on the other hand, actually i don't think i love being around them much, they make me sneeze i think thats why don\t like being around them.
that\s my view.
DOG or CAT, i choose a dog any day anytime

Well, i am allergic to both cats and dogs, but i have to say i like dogs alot more, you can do alot more things with dogs, with cats they sit around and piss all day haha
.
With dogs you can take it on walks etc, and they are far more fun and royal, and they seem to learn faster (eg tricks), you can't teach cats most of the things that you can teach dogs

Like both cats and dogs, still, have a stronger feeling towards the last.
At least to me, a dog can be more loyal, and protective if it is the case than a cat.
With my dog I have a lot of fun, we play all the time, run and enjoy ourselves, while I'm looking at my cousin, she has 2 cats, which don't really help much, they sit all day and purr :XD
Of course, even with dogs, I am selective, prefer doberman-type to...Chihuahuas...

i love both but at the moment i only own a cat and as she very old now i wouldn't want to bring a dog into the home as it might stress her out, i think shes had enough shocks lately when i brung the rabbit home.
Ok, granted that I will admite kitties are cute in pictures, dogs seriously trump cats in almost every aspect. Cat-lovers say dogs are messy and sloppy, but seriously, furrballs?? The point is that dogs are friendly. They are your compainions through anything and simply won't give out anything but love for their owner's and owner's friends. Quite seriously man's best friend.

That's weird, I thought when people allergic to cats they will also allergic to dogs because of the fur. For example, my mother is allergic to all animals that have fur.

I thought the same, nappa.
I am myself allergic to all furry animals and don't see how it's possible to only be allergic only cats, after all it's the fur that I'm allergic to - not anything specific to the animal itself.
LumberJack, how come you are allergic to only cats?
We have the fortune to live with both cats and a dog, and a few rabbits aswell.
I woun't go in at the rabbits, since they doesn't walk free, but both the cats and the dog
brings me lots of happiness in different ways. As most prejudice says, the cat is more
of a 'free spirit', and in a manner it's true aswell as a good vantage-point. The cats
often mind their own buisness and when they take contact it's in a kind of spiritual way.
The dog is more demanding, but also tieing a stronger bound. Since it's on different
levels, and in very different ways, I have some trouble justifying the question.
For me it's obviouslly 'Cats and dogs'.
The follow-up question usually is how they get along, so I'll touch that subject a bit
aswell. Recently we had an elder dog (big one, 9 yrs) who didn't care to much about the
cats. He was raised by/with a firm cat who'd taught him not to be to careless in play.
Now we have a little border collie, four months old, and the cats havn't adjusted to him
yet. He think the cats are either toys or playmates, but they doesn't agree. In time
I'm sure it will work out fine, since both parts learns and teach each others.

I like Dogs becuse they are mutch clever then cats, etc.
i got a dog my self, hes 3 years old and hes the only thing that mean something to me

I've had both, and frankly I prefer cats. Cats are cool, dogs are annoying, or try to eat my face.
I've also had both, and have enjoyed them both in their own ways. Cats just seem to be easier, overall, so I think if I ever got my own pet in the future, it would be a cat. Dog's are pretty rewarding in their own way, though.
I prefer cats, because they never do what you want them to do. In any case they don't need too much attention and don't smell like a dog does.
While I like all animals dogs are my favorite pat. If brought up right that are so loyal, work hard, and try to please.
I was lucky enough to have a border collie that was so smart he learned a trick a day and we spent so much time together growing up though my teen years. I have more fond memories and stories of him than any other single person. I guess we bonded.
I never got another dog after Ranger, as I guess I thought I might be disappointed. He lived to the ripe age of 16 and at the end, I had to carry him outside for him to "go". Both my parents died form illness and that experience with taking care of my beloved dog helped me to go the distance with them. I put my heart and sole in both my parents final time here, and I think part of it is the lesson I leaned from a great friend I had as a youth. My dog Ranger.

dogs are much much much more loving than cats. Cats are just scary with all those sharp weapons all over their body. My sister's cat has the sharpest claws i've ever seen.

Don't forget dog's teeth! And they growl, bark, run around, chase you, jump up at you... the list goes on. I think dogs are far more intimidating than cats to be honest. It's very unlikely that a cat would use it's "weapons", as you put, against any human - however dogs are more known to attack people (although this is still quite an uncommon event). I am not denying that cats attack people, merely pointing out that it's less common. After all, cats have a far more docile nature than dogs - although there are some very docile breeds of dog, I do admit.

Oh no, you can have all kinds of different allergies to each tyep of fun. Though cats and horses seem to be bigger offenders. Although you could be allergic to dogs, horses, and cat, but not to hamsters (which also have fur). It all depends on how your system works.
Note: I know they have some dogs that are allergy free. So check them out if you like dogs and have problems. I am not sure about cats but I would hope they would have an allergy free cat too?
i like both animals, both are pretty and cute, dogs are more angry and the cats they are silence:P
i have a dog, a cat, and a bird.
My favourite pet is the dog though because he is so loyal and always happy. My cat is sometimes nice and sometimes trying to kill me though so he's not my favourite.
Its true as i am alergic to dogs but not cats but i used to be allergic to both. Even though my dog sometimes makes me sneeze i still think dogs are the best pets ever. Especially big dogs because i love to wrestle with my 110 pound (not fat muscle) shepard malamute cross until have torn up arms or he gives up. I am also getting a smaller dog though wich will be nice cause if he is bad you just pick him up and yell "bad dog" vs. dragging my big dog into his kennel for 10 min. LOL

Cats totally, although I have a breed or two of dog I would love to have at some point.
My cats right now just rule, I wouldn't trade em for a dog.

I love both cats and dogs, but as an owner of both, in the future I think I'd rather just have cats. Many of the same rewards + not nearly as much work = cats are great in my book. People who think cats aren't as loving as dogs just don't understand cats' signals. We have a cat who's awesome. His emotional and intellectual complexity are twice our dog's, and he's plenty expressive. Don't get me wrong, I love my dog, but sometimes I'd rather not have to make so many sacrifices. I haven't gone mountain biking or gone on a run by myself in months!
cats of course
they are much clever and you dont have to guide them to the place where they should crap
and much more clean too, never seen a cat who smelled

I like cats more than dogs. They're just easier to take care of and don't take as much energy for the owner. Personally I hate having to run across the neighborhood for 3 hours straight against my own will.
I think that dogs are definitey smarter than cats... and for example dogs can protect you from somebody, and their barking can scare a thef... and cats are just eating wating and sleeping all day
Dogs are what we call mans best friend treat them right they will definitely protect and take good care of you also. As we all know atleast 90% of people around the world have a dog. These so called canines will guard you, your family and your property "BUT" be sure to treat them right feed them play with them "if possible" if you want you can take a bath with them. I owned dogs since i was 5 years old although we have cats and birds too but the thing is what will these cats and birds do? now let us focus with dogs what does my dogs did/do? THEY PROTECTED MY FAMILY. Now i owned 2 dogs, pitbulls. So thief BEWARE!!!
Well when it comes to those who are afraid of dogs specially when they are barking, dogs has this thing called teritory when you entered their turf definitely they will bark at you it is simple as they are protecting their masters. You are being chased by dogs because of that ex. mailmans, garbage collectors or even people who are just passing by. Even humans do that, what will you feel if unknown persons entered your turf?
| munpitclub wrote: |

Uhh... Where did you get that one from?
I would think that it was more like 2% - 4% of people.
I'm pretty darn certain it's not more than 10% of people. 90% is a ridiculous overstatement and obviously so. Otherwise most people you see would be accompanied by a dog (and yes, I do recognise that not everyone would have their dog with them).
i love to own a pibull,i love thier bloodliness, very aggresive they're good for home security.a friend of mine has one and i love the way it walks when we take it for a walk,it's the kind i'll love to have,i love rotweiller also,i will own them soonesti think.
CATS .. definetly Cats!! They are gratious and you must buy their attention! I had 3 dogs
and a cat until now ... My dad is a dog-lover. Anyway I would like a big , fat and fluffy cat
I love them both, a lot...
I happen I have been raised in a house with two cats, and two dogs, all fairly differernt by nature. So, I kind of learned what they could be like, and what they liked.
Of course, it might be nicer to walk a dog, and more comfertable to have a cat on your lap, but no way I would more like to have the one than the other. Pets for different use, at different times, but not always

I guess that is a point if you're blind and have someone to train the dog for you. Not a good argument for the other 99.7% of the population.
BTW, does the "protection" value of dogs apply to shih tzus, pomeranians, toy poodles, etc? I really can't see my mother-in-laws shih tzu scaring off an attacker
Cats for me. The only benefit I see with dogs is that, in general, they are better at fetching(although I've had cats that fetched and dogs that wouldn't). On the other side of the scale, cats are cleaner and require less maintenance. They are more independent, which makes it all the more gratifying when they decide to spend time with you.
this is a silly question. everyone knows cats are better.
actually i like both! ha!
(but fueling a war makes life more interesting....just ask bush)

I really love cats, they are such characters. No matter how long you know a cat it always remembers you as family...
I have a cat with a thousand characters and we can spend a whole evening telling stoires about her or even watching her, she does the most remarkable things that everyone that comes to our house knows to look out for her- even kids!

I would say dogs. Because they are fun to play with and they are protective.
we once had a dog for a pet but now we only have a cat and a dove..... Cats are so fussy at times but they also cuddle and play with us. Doves are so interesting.. I mean, in our house, they are the master.. wahaha.. its fun looking at cats being scolded by a dove.. wahaha
..
haha, I think owning a dog or cat depends on the person in question. I own both a cat and a dog at my house so it's kind of easy for me to see the pros and cons of each.
A dog requires a person who is dedicated and who has a lot of willpower. Yes, dogs are loyal, but they need A LOT of training, and if your not the type of person who can effectively do that, your relationship with your dog is at a standstill. I know there are dog obedience schools, but its not the same as training him/her yourself. You wouldn't let your child be raised by somebody else would you, so why would you do the same thing for a dog? They also take up an enormous amount of time especially if you get one that is only a couple months old, but starting early is the best anyways. Practice doesn't make perfect, it only makes permanent.
On the other hand, a cat is almost the direct opposite haha. They too require a lot of love and attention, but if you let it alone it won't suffer for the worse either. Cats are independent by nature, so a cat and a person can coexist pretty comfortably as long as both the human and the cat's needs are met. They're cute to cuddle to, and they don't smell which my dog does ;__;
So speaking, you can judge for yourself and see which pet is more suited to your needs =]

Personally I like dogs over cats. Dogs seem more loyal to me, cats more independent. I agree that this may have pros and cons on both sides.
I like dogs because dogs are very friendly to men. They help men in difficulties any time in their life.
Cats are adorable! I'm not saying that dogs aren't adorable - I guess I just prefer a pet that is very cuddly and not too hyper, and I've had this phobia on dogs ever since I was a kid.. Something must have happened back then but I can't remember..
While I agree with Low of the unregistered Peninsular Malaysian Movement to Object to the Disturbance of Neighbours’ Dogs that rearing dogs may not be the culture of Chinese, I totally disagree with his other findings on dogs.
He claimed that dogs spread diseases. On this score, it is very unfair for him to single out this beautiful animal as the sole harbinger of diseases. What about the cats? Cats can spread diseases too including rabies, cowpox and ringworms. Cats, too, should be forbidden.
But as we know, diseases are more frequently spread by poultry rather than dogs nowadays. Low would do the community a better job by waging a campaign against bird-rearing.
As for noise pollution from barking dogs, it is a fact that humans create more noise than the poor dogs. Some of them switch on their TVs or stereo sets at full volume till the wee hours of the morning. They even rev their motorcycles in these early hours just to shatter the silence.
But dogs are more sensible in their barking. They do not bark for nothing. They only bark when there are intruders or to greet their masters. Low should also provide statistics on the number of people killed by dogs in Malaysia. It is very unfair to brand dogs as killers when there are no fatalities involved.
Shouldn’t we list down the good things dogs have done for us? The number of lives they have saved at risk to their own? The number of break-ins they have prevented by their relentless barking? The companionship and security they provide our growing children?
Really, Low’s argument against the rearing of dogs is without logic.

He claimed that dogs spread diseases. On this score, it is very unfair for him to single out this beautiful animal as the sole harbinger of diseases. What about the cats? Cats can

I love all animals they are a good company and sometimes they make you laugh..... now i have a cat.....but soon i will buy a Golden Retriever.....i think is a good dog and look like beauty xD
I prefer dogs by a mile! I used to own and love cats, but sadly they died. Since we got a dog, I have noticed that they are more interactive and show more affection than a cat. That's my two cents anyway.
I have 2 dogs and I think dog is more freindly to human more than cat, sometime i think cat isn't very friendly, first is its really hard to teach its name, but dog we can call it everyday not over a month it can remeber its name but cat doesn't. The cat is just pretty but not that playful like dog

I like dogs. Something manly about them. More loving. Cats seem to somewhat selfish and self centered. But may be these are just rationalizations of a confirmed dog-lover..

Yes dogs are loyal and cats are adorable. I love cats for they are independent and always graceful and cool. They have extrodinary personalities. If you ask me to choose one animal to be I would definitely choose a cat!
On the other hand sometimes cats are just too cool to be kept as pets. So if ever want a loyal friend or even a new family member, dogs are better than cats.
But don't forget cats love to keep themselves clean and they dont smell as much as dogs do.

A conversation with Chloe cat
...it left me bleeding and everyone involved extremely angry.
Me: Chloe, you're filthy. I'm giving you a bath.
Chloe (my tiny calico cat who thinks she's ten feet tall and bullet proof): Hiss! Mrowrl!
Me: Stop that!
Chloe: (trying to climb up my neck and rip my eyeballs out) Hiss! Yowowowowow! Haroooooo!
Me: It's your own fault, you shouldn't have been trying to crawl out of the house through the furnace pipe just because you're in heat.
Chloe: (slashing her razor-sharp claws around wildly at random and howling through a mass of baby-shampoo bubbles): Yarble yarble yarble! YARRRHHH! YAHwooooooo!
{ at this point, imagine a scene of pro-wrestling-like violence }
Me: (panting with exertion, kneeling on a swamped bathroom floor and sucking on a wounded thumb) I am SO getting you spayed the instant I can afford it, you wretched brat.
Chloe: ( snort sneeze shake shake shake and stands there, obediently waiting for the nice warm, dry towel, looks pitiful, gently pats her tiny paw on my hand and says in her softest cute little kitten voice) Mew?
The moral of this story? Cats are generally less stinky than dogs, but dogs are easier to bathe when they get really dirty.

I like all the animals that god has created because i'm an animal lover. Thus I like both dogs and cats.
But I don't know why I love dogs more than cats a bit. Dogs are so so soft and kind!!
But I don't know why I love dogs more than cats a bit. Dogs are so so soft and kind!!
I like cats more, because they seem to be much more independent and their personality differs a lot from a dog's one... With a cat, you never know what to expect... Dogs are more reliable, but also much more predictible.
Yes Obviously dogs are royal and loyal too. People say them as faithful animal.
Not only we say faithful animal sometimes elders would like to compare us with dogs saying dog is better than you in terms of faithfulness lol some how sad but true.
Even if we feed or we dont feed they are at our door step faithfully doing what they suppose to do.
They are friendly and also they are good listeners 'cas when we talk to them they give their two eats attention to us.
Some people especially the elder ones spends their daily life with dogs talking to them.
You know there are many more to talk about dogs,
CATS
As some of us said dogs or royal i agree with that.
At the same time people who have cats they believe it as the most royal to have cats in their houses.
as we can see in the movies and also in the rich families. We dont see cats with middle class or lower class families but mostly with rich people.
Which mean they believe cats are more royal than dogs but may be not loyal.

Dogs, they are the most human friendly animal on the planet unlike cats, they only come for food and a shelter, they hardly provide love back to a human unlike the loyal dog, I know this because my nan has 2 cats and 2 dogs.
I said none but i have a lizard!
If i were to get an animal today, it would probably be a do since my wife is allergic to cats.

Mmh.. I prefer cats, actually, I'm allerigc to both cats and dogs -- but still, being allergic to them, I adore cats. I even had two kittens myself for a few years. As CEO said, cats may do there own thing, but atlest I don't have to spend time giving it walkies.. and most of 'em are easily litter trained. And our kitties give us kisses when we get home. They love to jump on our lap and be petted.
Obviously, I'm a cat person

BOTH!
I like cats because they're self-sufficient, and kind of aloof, but can be very affectionate at times.
I like dogs because they're generally forgiving, and humorously bumbly.
When I was a kid, I was MUCH more a cat person. My twin sis & I started the Cat Club, a club for grade-school cat fanciers, and ran it with hilarious rigour throughout our youth! No dogs were allowed!
I've since reformed and learned to love both ^_^

I don't have anything agains cats or dogs i like them both. My uncle had a cat - he wasn't a problem at all he just was to scared sometimes.
I got a dog and i don't mind walking him. He's royal to us and we never had any trouble with him.
I love him. (not in this way perverts).

Simple: DOGS Rule.
I can tolerate cats, the one thing that drives me crazy about cats is when people allow their cats to be indoor/outdoor cats. The place is either indoors or outdoors, not both for a cat. That is my thought at least.

I like both animals but I am more partial to dogs because they are loyal and fun loving and most animal movies that are made that are about dogs for instance like Air Bud. That was a total franchise based on that beautiful golden retrieval who could play any sport put in front of him. I love movies about dogs and they are cuddly and I have a golden lab myself.
I like dogs. I already have many wild cats at here. Living under our house and around our yard.
Dog is good. You can sport with it. But cats are just lazy and sleep at warm place.
Our dog died and I would wanna get new one. But parents doesnt.
A bit hard thing but I can live without dog.

Dogs and rabbits... I have three beautiful rabbits. =) Always running outside.
Cats every time,
they choose to be with you far more than a dog, they poo in other peoples gardens, don't need walking in rubbish weather, and they're nicer sat on my lap

1 word:
DOGS!!!
i love em not cats though....
DOGS!!!
i love em not cats though....
I love both and had both until I had to move. They dont allow pets here.
I prefer cats since dogs aren't really as cute to me. Dogs however can be a good companion. I own a dog though i prefer a cat.
I love dogs. I prefer them to cats. Dogs are full of more personality, Cats are just high maintenance and selfish. I am allergic to them too. LOL
I think it all depends on personality. I prefer cats because they are more 'hands off' kinda' pets, with their own moods and schedules. Dogs, their hyper-loyalty and need for attention, tire me out. No slight against them, but I prefer the feline temperament.
Dogs are the obvious answer for me. They get their love by giving it, and that's what I like about them. It's easy to have a cat that hates you. You feed it, it tolerates your presence. But a dog actually enjoys seeing you. They'll wait by the door when you come home, they'll be happy when you wake up in the morning, and they'll actually enjoy playing with you.
True, there are some cats like this... but almost all dogs are like this. The only disadvantages to dogs is that they have to go outside everytime they need to go to the bathroom, which can be difficult if there is often long periods of absence in the house, and most breeds of dogs shed like motherfu's.
But in the end... a cat can't catch a frisbee.

ehhh! both dogs and cats are lovely... i can't understand what u mean when u say dogs are royal ..
i think that cats are royal.. anyway .. i got a dog.. but a cat would be also welcome
I'm not even sure if I've posted in this already; but I choose dogs just because I love my Yorkie named Rufus. I also have a cat, but I HATE when he gets hair all over me
.
I love dogs. I have a 3 years old doberman in my house named "Tiger". Dogs are so loving and faithful that cats... You just can never hate your dog...
Both. I had dogs and cats all my life,
I like both, dogs and cats, but in my friend´s houses, not in mine. They have bad breathing, you need a lot of care. Good but only if you have a big house and they will be out. But I like animals.
I like both cats an dogs. There are certain aspects in each animal that I like better over the other. Big dogs always seem to think they're lap dogs. >.>;
Looks think dogs are more friends, so we see one thing:
You arrive at his home in a day of rain your dog will jump up on you is playing while the cat throws a look of the cat and sleeps and smart and so what we want and good for him! Heheheh

but the fact is.. both are just another animals...
I like both, but I don't know why
I love both cats and dogs, despite the fact that both the cat and dog we've owned were properly insane...
can't stand some breeds though...little angry rat dogs...i just don't see the point of them.

I like both, dogs are good pets, and cats are cute haha. Well, i had both over the past few years, and I dont prefer one over the other

I personally like dogs more. The thought of being scratched by a cat or looking into their big slit-like eyes makes me feel strange. But I like Chihuahuas and Bichon Frises the best.
Hi! I love cats & I'm really afraid of dogs.
BTW, I've heard that people who like cats are more selfish, and "dogs" are more devoted... :

he's just an awesome dog and is very playful.. |
Cats for shure!! i love there furrrrrrrrr and they taste better too
But seriously: Cats have way more personality then dogs, besides its more convienent, cats can manage doing their stuff just fine, unlike the dependent dogs.
Nah just give me pussy

i love dogs except the last one we had was sort of a retard, and the doctor mis-diagnosed her so we had to give her to an adoption family
I prefer cats but also don't mind small dogs, as I grew up with both. I am rather cautious of big dogs, though, as various members of my family have been bitten by larger dogs on different occasions.
i love cat
Honestly, there's nothing like the uncondicional love dogs offer to their owners...I feel like the more I love mine, the more they love me back. And they're so loyal...I also believe their personality, their need to please their owners and to make them happy is extraordinary.
It's the deepest and strongest bound between a human being and an animal. Just ask any veterinary or biologist. I do like cats too though. Just not so much as dogs

I am an animal lover and love both, love to feed street dogs, cats, nething!
jee hyvä koirat!
I like both dogs and cats. I only have a dog because my grandma is allergic to cats, but i like cats too, especially when they are just itty bitty kitties... so cute.
I love cats. I guess it's the fact that they -arent- dependant on you that makes them special...
Let me explain what I mean there.
They can survive on their own. Yet they choose to live with you. -CHOOSE- , mind you, not are forced. if they were being forced they would claw our eyes out and leave us without eyeballs.
that, and they are MUCH cleaner than dogs.

i like both. before i never had a cat I loved only dogs, but I had a cat named tofu and I loved him so much! they are very different!! you shouldn't compare them like this!
these two creatures are very similar, as far as anatomy and eating goes. Both are great to have. What it comes down to is two things: Allergies and time. IF you don't have ime to wal a dog for 20min twice a day, and you don't want a igh energy pet, get a cat. Dogs are more rewarding, but cats are by far the easiest to care for. Aside from food and cleaning litter boxes, there isn't much more work involved. But that doesn't mean you won't get an energetic cat. My grandma has a cat and he's really big, muscular, and fun. we were able to run around for nearly an hour with him following a string. Both have almost identical characteristics, depending on the breed. There isn't much difference between cats, but dogs, they have hundreds of breeds. Really big and really small dogs are very energetic. So if you want a low energy, easy to care for animal, get a mid-size cat OR dog. It's just that all the walking turns off some people.
Cats for sure. I've never had a good experience with [other] dogs. They always bark and scare me. Cats, on the other hand, loves me and they're just so friendly.
I love them both. Cats are my favourite, but are unfortunately not so great for long walks on the beach, or fetchng a ball. What I like about cats is that you have to earn their affection oposed to the majority of dogs that are just 'sluts' if it comes to attention
I hate all the pets to be frank. But I will prefer a DOG to cat because they are honest
Kitties! D=

One that looks like this. I will name it Ceri. =D
I can't get one until I get my own house, though.

X3<3 ???, what does that equation got to do with cats and dogs?? [:O].
I preffer cats.
their demands are much less than dogs.
Dogs you have to go outside and throw something for it to fetch it
With cats if they arn't asleep, then there eating and if you do throw a toy mouse at it well...... my cat just ignores it

I love playing with both! But if I had to be responsible for one over the other, I would choose a cat. As someone has already stated, they are less demanding. As a person who is not always at home, I would feel better having a more independent cat.
I really prefer dogs. In my eyes they bind better with their owner. There are trainings you can do with your dog to get closer with him. I like being close with an animal and those things aren't there for cats. Plus cats have sharp nails and teeth. I can't read cats the way I can read dogs so I am more comfertable with dogs. I don't mind cats though, they're cool too. I just prefer dogs.
Dogs ofc. You can do much more things with a dog then a cat...but cats are really cute.
i hate cats..
dogs are very loving sensible and very thankful to its master..
whereas cats are cunning, they steal food even if we give them enough..
so dogs r the best

3 month ago me and my wife get a little kitten from a street. It is a gray and short-haired female.
Now it is 4 month, very tender. It sleeps near with us. When we watching a TV it sucks a fingers
Also it is very tidy according to lavatory. Only one problem - it sharpen its clawhand by walls

i love both cats and dogs. I have my cat at home which plays with my tiny little dog. The cat is bigger than the dog and they play peacefully. They sleep both at my side. I love every animals that i try to take care of and having such pets can be a good to have some buddies that will never left you around(except if they die...LOL)
I can live with both. But I like having a constant companion where ever I go. My cat doesn't like leaving the house at all... But My dog I can leave in the back of my truck or the trunk space of a suburban (when we had one). Plus he's more likely to fend off intruders than a cat would
My Aunt in Idaho actually trained her cat to pick up small laundry and put it in a laundry basket... She's home WAY to much. And taught her dog to fetch her a cold beer from the cooler and put her empty can in the recycling bin. On command of course. But that's a little much for me. As long as my dog closes the back door after he comes in I'm satisfied! haha.

I am a dog lover especially springer spaniel's
they are so cute and full of energy I just love them.
cats on the other hand make me nerves, not scared just nerves.
I think it is the way they are so independent I just cant tell what they are going to do and in general I don't mind cats but would not want to own one.

I like dogs much better.
Cats aren't very dependant on you to have a fun life, they'll come to you for food, but wont be there to play or cuddle. They can also be really cruel and feisty.
Dogs, on the other hand, are very nice creatures who'll play and run around with you or just lie and let you cuddle them. I find them to be alot more intelligent and close to human then cats.

I have three of each, so you can tell I like them both. I really like almost any furry animal. Snakes I do not like, and I do not like bugs. But I have been known to call a shark cute.
I think, if a pet is taken care of properly, then it will be a loving animal.

Dogs for me =)
I was scratched by a cat kinda badly when I was small , plusmore my mum told me that cats can cause a type of sickness ( forgot the name though , but I don't really know whether is it true ... )
I have a lovely mixed breed dog adopted from SPCA , she is a very conservative and lively companion .
She understands my feelings and , very smart ( at some bad sense , naughty one =/ )
Well , actually , I love all animals . I just don't understand why some people just want to be cruel to animals . They have rights living in this world and they're living things too . People are just being unfair =(

Well, I have a sweet little kitten, and since I have it, I prefer cats. Dogs are sometimes really smelly, cats are more hygienic I think
i like a dog.
b'cause doggy is very cute and can secure me
b'cause doggy is very cute and can secure me
I love both cats and dogs. I currently have a cat, but would love to have a dog. I really want a great pyrenese but we would need land and a fence. I love other breeds too. Rottweillers are great dogs and greatly misunderstood. I also have a love for German Shepherds and Rough Coated Collies as well.
As for cats, we have a mutt for a cat, but he's as sweet can be. I wouldn't mind getting a ragdoll or an ocicat some day. Perhaps a bengal.
If I do get a purebred dog or cat, I will probably go through a rescue and get an adults. The puppies seem to be the ones people always one. Me, I'd rather be past that puppy stage.

Personally, I prefer dogs. You can't exactly teach a cat how to fetch. Well, you could, but it would take a while.
I love dogs better than cats. It is because dogs would interact with human more frequently and made us happy. While cats are more selfish in satisfying their desire(Not the pet owner!!!)
I like cats more because you can play more with them, without that they really attack you.
And I hate dogs because when I was little one attacked me.
And I hate dogs because when I was little one attacked me.
I prefer dogs to cats because they are much more loyal whereas cats are very individual. Additionally, I am allergic to cat's fur
. That's why I hate them.
Definitly cats, dogs are okay too tough. Cats just tend to be cuter and they do what they want, not what they are told to.
dog, I have a black lab
I like both, but if I had to choose on of them then it has to be dog.
I vote on cats because i find dogs wild. I don't like them and you need to go walk with them ,... I just like animals if they give love for little things. Thats why i choose a cat. ( I haven't got something agains dogs =) ). But i like a black cat more.
I haven't dog or cat now, but when I was child in our home were 2 cats and 3 dogs. I like animals and for me they are little friends. I remember really all black cat (girl) which look like best horrors, but for me it was wonderfull friend.
Like dogs more than cats. The latter are too jealous..
It's too bad for me for i am allergic to both dogs and cats... but if i wasn't allergic i think i would choose a cat... but not just an ordinary cat no..
one with those really big eyez.. that look at you as though they were saying i'm such a cute little kitten come give me a hug i'm cold..
but just an ordinary cat would do fine of course.. as long as it's " playfull "!

Def. cats... i like dogs and they are quite fun, but cats are little and cute and won't make as much mess or problems like a dog.
I so much adore all the animals! I adore them! I like dogs and cats, I have both. But I must admit that I like cats a little more than dogs
i think it depends
i dont like bg ferocious dogs, they are too vicious and big.
smaller dogs i like
cats - kittens are cute and depending on the cats personality they can be nice,. some cats can be annoying and basically run off and get fed by your neighbours lol

I love cat : cat like garfield
Cats, after more than 20 years wishing to own the dog
Although there is no need to list pluses and minuses of the each of them - both have own attractive sides - I value particularly the independence and self-sufficiency of the cats, being treated as an equal, appearance and the majestic manners - inborn ideal, that humans have to work hard to achieve.
While they do not require walking with a plastic bag and hand picking after them, cats I know tend to be excessive vocalizing at the sunrise. Why nobody says a word about their rooster-like tendencies?

my vote goes to dogs...
I have never liked cats so much as I like dogs
don't really know why, but it's just the way it is... LOL
I own one, too

i like cats more, mainly cause they are smaller/less noisy
I like dogs b/c they are loyal too. Nothing like coming home from work and man's best friend is so excited to see you no matter what.

I like both of them
I've almost always had dogs and cats, The last dog I had, a German Shepard, did not drool and actually licked his lips and looked embarrassed if he did drool a little when he panted. And I also had a cat that would purr so loud he would drool, a friend of mine has a cat that drools too.
Which do I like best? I have to say I like them both, perhaps dogs a little more. My dog liked to go with me in the car, or when I went horseback riding. The cat hated the car. A dog can go hiking with you in the woods and even carry a light pack with his own food or snacks in it, a cat can curl up on your lap and purr while your reading a good book and the dog is sleeping at your feet.
They are both great, just different. Right now I have two cats and a bird. I would love to have a dog but right now my life is too unsettled to add another pet. When things get more stabilized then I'll get another dog.

Ofcource dogs, cats cant be good friend.
Hi, I like all animals, but if I want a pet, I prefer a dog instead of a cat. Anyway, my favorite animals are spiders, snakes, sharks, etc.
@gtovoroap
What man!!, sharks snakes, etc as your best liked animals!!, woah!!, you must be a freaked out person, lolz, I've never met a person that likes such animals and for me spiders are the most scary things in the whole world.
@xava
yeah cats and dogs can never be good friends but let me tell you from my memories I've seen instances where a cat and dog were best pals and played with each other!!
@danish
I'ts great that you are an animal lover, that's all we all must be, BTW hope you are not danish from Lucknow, one of my friend??

This is a no-brainer for me as I am allergic to cats. I don't necessarily dislike cats, but I have great fun with my dogs (a Pug and a Boston Terrier), they have distinct personalities. Th Pug is very neurotic. The Boston Terrier will do something clumsy and actually look embarrassed. I haven't seen these traits in cats. I can't walk a cat. Around here there are a lot of dog Parks. Are there such places as cat parks?
In any case dogs or cat are nice but they are really different.
It's not the same and it will never be

You wouldn't say that if you met MY cat. He's so friendly and goofy and sweet, people stop at my house to visit HIM when they're in the neighborhood. They're like, Hey, how ya doin? I just dropped in to see Renfield.
I'm a huge animal lover. I have 2 dogs, 2 cats, & 2 chinchillas. I would like to one day open an animal rescue/ rehabilitation center for all walks of animal life. My goal in the exotic department is to get a red fox, a baboon, 3 toed sloth.
I prefer a dog over a cat any day; dogs are more cuddly and cats run or attack if you want to cuddle up.
I voted for dogs. They're smarter and more useful.
Its dogs for me. They offer great friendship and loyalty. They are always pleased to see you and will be at you side until their final day. Cats apear to do their own thing, often disappearing for days, and will only make a fuss of you on their own terms. Many cats also end their lives under the wheels of a car. I think I would worry every time my cat (if I ever had one) wandered the streets.
i'm afraid of dogs... so cats all the way
i once got chased into a tree by two big dogs
since then i never really liked dogs :/
I don't like both of them i.e neither dogs nor cats.
But as far as the royalty is considered then dogs are considered to be the most royal pet for a human being

Always preferred dogs, had 4 of them. Never had a cat, they are far too intelligent for me!
I presently have 2 weimaraners. A boy and a girl. Hoping to breed them at some point. Mind, the boy wants to breed each time she is in season. She is still only 18 months old.

So funny
I love dogs than Cats.
This is because Dogs respond more to our emotions than Cats. We can play with dogs, restle with them ....
But i found CAts a lil dumb and not so friendly as Dogs.
I think thats y they say DOG is the Mans best friend, not cats
But ...
Unfortunately i don't have either a dog nor cat at the moment. Both of the last of them died in the last year
Plannning to get one new puppy ASAP when i'm free

I like dogs too. They like everybody in the family. They are too intelligent, mischievous and innocent that they become our family members soon.
Cats for me! They are just as loyal as dogs in my opinion. You have to work much harder however to receive their affection and loyalty. Still haven't got anything against dogs!
my personal preference is dogs.
however, if i was to get a pet right now, it'd be a cat. my apartment doesn't allow dogs, and my busy schedule keeps me away from home a lot which isn't fair to a companion loving dogs.

I love dogs. Actually I have one at home. If I were to choose again, still it would have been a dog.

I like cats as they're not as obtrusive as dogs. Whenever I go to my inlaws their dog jumps all over you, slobbers on your leg etc etc. Gets on my nerves.
Dogs all the way....
Jade (all black GSD) is five years old, and has been with us for the last four years.
We walk about 50 to 70 miles EVERY week together - you'd never get that amount of exercise with a cat!
Add to that, we go to agility training twice a week, and I can't imagine a cat being at all interested in that...
Speaking of walkies, its time to go out again... so I'll catch you all later.

I love both. If I had to make a choice it will most probably be a dog. They are less aloof. Although cats can probably look better after themselves. Any cat or dog will do. I admire Jack Russells, but also Golden Retrievers. But a mix breed from the SPCA is also good. They sometimes turn out in the best friends.
I do not own a dog or cat presently as I am working on contract in the Middle East. This is not such a good environment for a cat to be in. Neither for a dog. So people usually keep them locked up behind gates or indoors.

Cat's are self-sufficient, cleaner(mostly) and really loving. Dogs I find.. well it's a pain to clean your yard every day.. and they slobber and shed all over everything.. kinda sucks.. i have four dogs.. my step-mo put my cat in the pound. -.-
Why.. They have a personality!

I obviously prefer CATS - However any individule that loves one species as much as I love cats has compassion for and appriciates ALL animals. Yeah - even spiders creepys, crawlies & the likes. I most certainly don't want to pet them or even see them, BUT I appriciate them & see thier importance & value. IE: Spiders catch mosquitoes & other bugs keeping us from getting swarmed every time we walk outside, That is defedently appriciated by me and I certainly see thier value & importance. Earth has such a fragile ecosystem, most people don't realize our lives depend on all theese factors & many wrongly neglect or abuse animals & the earth. I only hope there are enugh individules similar to myself & many of the other posters here that are willing to step outside of thier own short term - shallow - instant gratification or whatever the case may be way of thinking to to take notice of and respect the simple fact that everything here has a purpose & great value which ironically, when it comes down to the wire, determines wheather we live or die. Neglect, disregard, abuse or destroy one part of the eco-system & our whole little world could crumble to... uh, well, you know what.
Preachy enugh for anyone here? LMAO - sorry for the rant, can't shut myself up most of the time! hah ha!!!
I like cats. They are so funny when are playing. Also, you can sleep with a cat in your bed

he's just an awesome dog and is very playful.. |
Different for me. I love Cats and Dogs they both are good animals. I have a cat and a dog and they both amuse me and they are like brothers to me. Everyone in my family loves the pets. The dogs name is lucky and the cats is Timmy. The cat never meows and the dog alaways growls.
I would prefer dogs fr a number of res\asons, firstly their poo doesnt stink like cats, secondly they do not leave around proofs of existance everywhere(hair) and thirdly they are much much more oyal than cats. Dogs are really the best pets you can have...
CATS!!!!!!!!!! but i dun mind dogs ^^. cats are way more independent and manageable + they clean up after themselves.
I'm not shure witch one i like more the love you get from both of them depands on the way you bring them up ower cat at home is a verry social one but that's becaus she isn't allaowed outside so it is a home cat. but the dog we had lisnet verry wel so i cant pik a favorit one

Cats have so much dignity...dogs are just subservient. I like my animals with grace and fierce wildness.
Cats are small, but mysterious.
Cats are small, but mysterious.
I like dogs because they are loyal and brave. cats is so cowardly.
Dogs. All the way. Why cause they don't scratch you like crazy like a cat. They are also a loyal companion to have and will protect you if your in danger. A cat will sit and watch you die. Then the cat will walk over and start being nice to the guy who just killed you.
Dogs for sure. Cats are scratching and ruing the furnitures
And they also smell. Hehe.. Just think that dogs are more my kind of pet.
I'm definetly a dog person.
Cats are too much of drama queens, and i've only met like one that i've actually liked.
Dogs are loyal, and much more enjoyable to be around (if well trained).
This is also impacted by my alergy to cats, but regardless of that, I stick to my all dog mentality.

Cats are all to often moody and tempermental. Kittens are really affectionate though.
Dogs have very different personalities. I find some dogs are very neurotic, hyper and demand attention, while others are calm and uninterested.
I would prefer a dog with an affectionate and loving personality.
I personally though would go off topic and suggest that pot-bellied pigs are best. Less maintenance then a dog, yet just as affectionate and less troublesome.

Dogs of course, cats doesn't like humans very much, but dogs do love humans. So I prefer dogs.
dogs rule, cats are too small
Dogs are cool, best friend, loyal and a nice foot warmer too. Cats, well they own you not the other way around, but the entertainment you get from them, make it all worth it.

Cats, yes. I am one weird person and I've never been too fond of dogs; I had one for three days, couldn't stand it, then gave it away. (Yes, I am mean, I know!) I think cats are a lot cuter and more independent than dogs. But I'm not really into having pets.
I like both of them... but maybe I prefer cats
I love cats. I have a 7 year old cat, that is like the best cat ever. He never messes anything up, and he quite gentle. My dog is the excite opposite, so I'm gonna have to say i'm a cat person.
How about humans?

Well I'm a dog-person I guess, the misses is more a cat-person. So we have both a dog and a cat at home.
My love for dogs is something I can't really explain but for some reason I get along with them pretty well. Eventually it became my job. I train dogs for their assigned duties, be it searching, defence or guidance.
I don't really hate cats though, but since I'm semi allergic to them I've learned to ignore them. Since we have our own cat that changed a bit but still I spend a lot more time with the dog then with the cat.

I have both cats and dogs in my house and they live together in perfect harmony! One of my cats is 20 years old and my little jack russel is scared of it!
I like both, but I wouldn't have anymore... Just too sad when they die...

I guess dogs are easier to train and you can walk or run with them. Their great friends

i prefer for dogs, why? I am scared for cats
(keep it quiet

Cats are better, they know how to relax and enjoy life properly, dogs on the other hand are too full of energy and they are very tiring especially labs because they stay puppy-like for a long time.
hate them both! >.<
dogs are definitely better than cats They do not produce rotten shit, no disease like cats get, and the best part they are loyal dear. try kicking a cat-youll regret it.

nice one! hahahahaha
Cats are "Awwwww-some" (Made-up words ftw
). Cats are cool. Dogs are a bit too loud and boisterous for my liking. Not to mention that they are high-maintenance. With a cat, give it food, water and the cat is happy. It will purr for you, sleep on your chair, and follow you everywhere around the house. Dogs do that anyway, but they tend to get in the way.
2 cats
I have 2 cats but I would also like a dog and a mouse
I'm a big fan of both, I raised a rottweiler from pup to full grown and 2 kittens. They both make for great pets, but since I have a smaller house cats are ideal for me.
Easy ,good and friend
1 dog and cat =>>good.

Definately cats. Most dogs are annoying to me. Primarily b/c they smell horrible, and certain types bark way too much.
Well I don't have cats or dogs. Don't have time to take care of them. But I prefer Dogs to cat. Dogs always loyal and they love to spend time with people. Cats only come to people when they want food or just want a cuddle.

Especially the kittens- ADORABLE! i want some and its weird because we have a lot of stray (although tamed) stray cats always roaming around our house but my dad doesn't want them because they're not clean ( as in they have flease- possibley) and he can't be bothered taking care of it.
A good thing is that they bury their own pooh!

Cats are royal, dogs are loyal.
I like cats better than dogs. This is probably because our personalities are more alike. I always think of dogs and hyper and fiercely loyal creatures, while cats are more aloof, calm, and sometimes cold. I wouldn't call myself cold, but I'm definitely not outgoing and sometimes may appear aloof, so I suppose that for those reasons I like cats better. I also like how cats look better. And they smell nicer (besides their breath... But then, it's equally as vile as the dogs' breath I've smelled. xD)
So anyway, that's what I think. I still enjoy dogs quite a lot too, though! Don't get me wrong. I just like cats better. =]

Dogs hands down. When I was much younger, around 12-13 years old I would go with my dad to one of his friends house who owned multiple cats (I think 2 or 3). When I would be there the cats would come up to me and they would be nice for a while and then one time one of the cats started to scratch at me to get ready to lay down I guess. The only problem with that was the fact that the cat still had its claws and that really hurt. I also never really liked cats for the fact that you cant really do the type of things with them like you can a dog. Dogs you can train, take with you on trips, go out doors with them and not have to worry about them running away, ect. They are just overall more fun to be with. Also I know a lot of breeds of dogs that shed less then cats.
Sorry about my poor english!
Dont like any one, dogs or cats
So I have a turtle.
She is calm and quiet!

I "room" with 6 cats, of course they don't pay rent but still... roommates nonetheless.
I have 5 cats.. But both is my choice
.
I am not sure what is question exactly. For me dogs and cats both are same. I am never going to have any of them. I will rather prefer to live with another human. That doesn’t mean I don't like them. Actually I will be the on who respects them more. Because I don't eat them or any other animal. I know it is easier to live with them than human. But c’mon to be able to live with human you have to develop some special quality. Thus a person develops a quality like another human. And to be able to leave with animal you have to develop quality like them. And I want to be like human. And wants to be batter human. So i prefer none of them. Yes both of them are great with surroundings good from them.
I used to have 5 Burmese and Siamese mix cats when I was in Burma (now called Myanmar). One Burmese cat gave birth to 4 kittens that are mixed with Siamese cat. They were so adorable.
I like both dogs and cats.

I have never met a cat who was not selfish they care only for themselfs and you are only a source of food and to get their tummy rubbed.

I have never met a cat who was not selfish they care only for themselfs and you are only a source of food and to get their tummy rubbed. |
Good point. I also love dogs. I have not had one for a while, and your posting just makes me wish for one very much. I live in the Middle East where dogs and cats are not really well treated as they are considered dirty. I also travel a lot. Would be nice to get home though and have a welcome like that. Staffies are really affectionate, awesome dogs. A friend of mine had one who was called Tess. She overconsumed food, so was on a special diet all the time. One day while my friend was out of the house, just before Xmas, she climbed into some Xmas presents, that had already been wrapped, and were liquor chocolates. When my friend got home, Tess was hopelessly intoxicated and she had to rush her to the vet. Would appear that the vet considered the chocolate to be more toxic than the alcohol, so had to pump her stomach. She was a real character. When she passed away my friend was devastated for a long time.
I like dogs because of the following:
-They are fun to play with
-Encourage you to get off the computer and go for a walk
-Very loyal
-Great companions.
Some things I don't like about dogs:
-They get horrible odors
-Bark when neighbors walk by
-Whine when they don't get special treats at supper time
-You have to give them baths
I like cats too:
-Calm/mello
-Very friendly
-Help soothe you after stressful days
-Clean themselves
-Use the litter box
Some things I don't like about cats:
-Having to actually clean the litter box
-How they don't mind breaking your wireless mouse trying to play with the pretty red light on hte bottom XD
-My cat makes this funny slurp/suck sound when he's cleaning himself
-My sister's cat pees in my floor and vomits/hacks up a hairball on my futon when she gets mad at me
-Cats are really good at holding grudges.
Overall, I love both animals. They help make your day worth while.

i'll go for dogs... a bodyguard

Dogs are mans bestfriend...a great buddy...a team player...or sometimes our opponent... i have 3 dogs in our house...a doberman, a german shepherd and my favorite japanese spitz...i love all my dogs...
i hate cats...i don't like them..for one reason...they will eat my food....

| Which one do you like and why ? Most of people who like dogs don't like cats. For me, I prefer dogs because they seem to be royal. |
Did you mean loyal and not royal?
I grew up with 2 cats. I do not mind either dogs or cats in general.
Cats are good because they rarely bother you, but sometimes if they want attention they press themselves on you. I do not really like smaller dogs though, they are generally yippy and annoying with some exceptions.
My fiance is does not like larger dogs, so it seems we will not be getting any dogs in the near future.
I love dog's, more than cats.
I love kittens beacuse they are friendly and really care for you.
I dont love dogs but i dont hate them either because i have got bad memories of them, i got attacked by a dog when i was 5 years old, nearly died and had to stay at the hospital for months..
So thats my story

I've noticed that, while cat lovers rarely express distaste in dogs, dog lovers often vehemently hate cats. Why is that? |
I think cats are like marmite, you either love them or hate them.
Personally, I like both cats and dogs. However I only have cats here as I work long hours and I am usually out of the house from 7am until 9pm so I don't think I could provide a suitable home for a dog.
I adore dogs, especially the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. We have 7 dogs at the moment. 3 of them are Cavaliers, two are half Cavalier, father is a Cavalier, mother is a cross Italian Greyhound and a terrier. The mother is also still with us and we also have a poodle. But I don't hate cats, I like all sort of animals.
Although I have 2 cats, I someday wish to have a dog. They are outdoor cats and are relatively low maintenance, but the companionship of a dog would be something I would like to have.
You can't play frisbee with a cat. And I enjoy frisbee very much. This is just one examle

Cats all the way for me.
I love dogs! Cats arn't as playful
I have a cat, I will have to wait for a while to get a dog... once I have a garden and more time I'm definitely getting a black sheppard.
I have always been with dogs my entire life. As I grew up I had a German Shepard that was the most loving and protective dog. He would sleep next to my bed every night and just keep me company all day long. Now I have a black lab which is just as much loving and caring for me. We always go out for walks, runs, swims, and anything you can pretty much think of. I have to say that our black lab is amazing with kids as well. She is gentle as can be and knows that she has to be very nice with them. She also loves attention so it works perfectly, she gets a rub down from the kids and the kids love to play with her.
I have never owned a cat but I have never really had the best experiences with them so I doubt Ill ever end up buying one. I cant really get over the smell and excess of hair they leave everywhere. Also they tend to think everything is theres to own.

i prefere dogs because they can protect you with their lifes..
and i dont like cats because i heard that when their oweners dies cats can eat them.
Cats do not eat dead people...and they are great. they only eat people if they are starving and the same goes for dogs, the difference between cats and dogs is that dogs will try to eat you when you are still alive if they are hungry enough
dogs are man's best friend. they tend to guard and protect. its good to have a dog in a house where you may feel lonely. the dog can give company. i would choose a dog over a cat. they are good for the spirit. just to hear the bark. to see its beautiful fur. its a wonder!
Honestly, I love both... Dogs are great because they're loyal, awesome cuddlers, and act like protectors for the entire family. The wolf is actually one of my top favorite animals.
As for cats, they're also great cuddlers. Yeah, they may act like royalty, but they don't bark at every little thing that goes by. They keep the moles and rats out of the garden, their purrs can calm pretty much anyone (to me at least) and they're pretty self sufficient. Both animals are great to have around and I couldn't imagine living somewhere without at least one of each.

I like dogs.I have a dog and i at my home. It's Golden Retriever.Dogs for Evet
DOGS
Why?? Because cat's are stupid... I've dog
I hate both. I hate all animals that can bite and hurt you, as I've had bad experiences with them in the past. Real bad experiences, and I don't think I would ever go near ones anyway.
Definetly dogs. i mean cats are ok and everything but they are not as awesome as dogs. dogs are entirely loyal. they would stick up to you no matter what you do. also dogs are more energetic then cats. i mean, cats are a menace. you have fish and cat as pets and the fish is agoner. the only thing dogs are against are cats. and dogs can be learnt to get alog with them. my friend has a dog and cat and the dog gets along fine. the cat still has few problems. Dog is mans best friend for life.
love dogs especially smaller "toy" dogs like terrier, shih tzu or poodle
serisouly. It's a very tough choice. It depends on what your going for. Dogs if you bond with them may save your life, cats if you bond with them may be very comfy lap pets. Dogs require attention, cats can suffice themselves.
I like both either way. A dog to take with me in the woods, a cat to warm my feet in the winter. If I had to choose to have ONLY one I would say cat, but ONLY because I tend to leave my home in excess of 5 days occasionally, and a cat would entertain itself far better than a dog would. Not to mention all it needs is a box to go in...

same comments for me as well but my cat is kinda different he doesnt hack up hairballs and hes pretty agro lol.
But i prefer cats still since some dogs when they get older make massive craps all over the place and stinks like hell
We have this dog in the neighbourhood i dont know who's it is but it just goes to random people's front gardens and back if it doesnt have a gate or something blocking and it just shits and pisses all over the place.... kinda pisses me off
I like dogs more because, their faces look innocent, but if you see the face of a cat it's wicked. Dogs are much more active than cats, cats always look dull and sober and give you a lazy outlook. But, if you see a dog, the dog always spreads enthusiasm and positive vibe all the time.
So i like dogs more than cats.
So i like dogs more than cats.
I have had 3 dogs for about 5 years but now I also have two cats.
Dogs are cool but need more maintenance and cost more to run.
Cats are much cheaper to run and maintenance is nearly none.

I used to share a 3 room apartment with my friend. We used to have 5 cats in our apartment. I LOVED it. There´s nothing greater than having "someone" waiting for you, when you get home.
My family has owned one dog and currently owns one. The first one died.
I love dogs, this summer I volunteered at an animal shelter and walked dogs for about two to three hours, it was very nice. The dogs were excited and I was happy.

You can't really decide between cats and dogs.
Although dogs help people - guide dogs, police dogs etc., some are known to have a bite worse than its bark and need lots of time to take care of. If you don't have time or money, Cats are generally better. Although cats don't need much time to take of, they can scratch furniture and be quite disasterous.

Dogs... Of corse =)
Both pets are having their own qualities and nature. Having cats are helpful to away from rats and other insects but Dogs are more smart then cats, they are loyal, obey the order, understand the mood if you are angry and many more.
I adore both, but if I had to choose, I'd go with a dog. Dogs are fun to walk and play with, and are usually more friendly and loyal than cats. But if you were the more relaxed type, I'd go with the cat.
I prefer cats, they seem more cuddly, not licking your face all the time
I have both dog and cat at home and i got to say that i prefer dogs. This is because dogs just seem more active than cats. My cat spends about sixteen hours sleeping, so i don't get to even play with him a lot. Whereas my dog is like awake for like 18 hours a day, so whenever i'm bored i would go out and play with him.
Dogs are the best animals have ever been there on the entire earth, not cats, i hate cats, they do nothin, but dogs are real friends... YEAH!!! DOGS ROCK
I love dogs
I think the cats very beautiful, and I really want to have a Persian cat, but I'm allergic to cats.
Cats have some chemical in the coat that makes me very badly. I lose my breath, is something horrible

Both. I have them both. I love them both. Dog usually tries to ctach cat, but cat runs away usually. Sometimes they do funny theathre also
Dogs and cats are both fine for me, because i take more care of my dog, but they both snuggle up to me at night, so I like both of em snuggling meee!
I prefer dogs, as I just do. No evidence, no argument, I just like dogs
Normallt I would state something and back up my answer but nope, I am just a dog person. Cats are cool too, but I like big, fluffy, and slobbery
