Icons if firefox and other browsers

I notice that in firefox (and some other browsers) there is an icon next to the url of many sites. I also notice that there is no icon next to my sites. How do you specify an image for this?
Is there some specific meta tag, or do you register at a specific website?

OK,first this image's name must be favicon and must have a ".ico" format.So create your own image with 16x16 pixels...And upload it to public_html or what you want(if it asks for a owerwite agree it)..So you can get it..And if it isn't work put the code to header.php(or what you use) for favicon.ico:

That's new vocabulary for me; favicon. Thanks a lot for the tip. It's on my equine dream site now.
