Clarification of rule 1h

Firstly, the gramar in that rule is a bit off - the last comma in the two lists should be an "or" and "more superior" doesnt make that much sence - remove the more Very Happy

Secondly i think a clarification of the intention with this rule is needed. The intention of the rule is great however the way its expressed at the moment is unclear / wrong, in my oppinion.

Im sure im allowed to say that i believe that denmark is a much more pleasant place to live than so many other countries (thereby implying that its superior to other countries). Im also allowed to argue that buddhism is superior to islam - as long as i dont do an "im right, your wrong" which of course would be against the rules. Finally im also alowed to argue that americas food culture perhaps isnt quite as sophisticated as the french food culture - again that surely shouldnt be a problem...

With the current wording some (new) members may feel too scared to propperly express their views...that doesnt generate good and intelligent discussions - so edit the rule Very Happy

Only when I have a closer look at the rule, I seem to understand the true meaning

Users are allowed to opine that a particular state/religion/etc is superior to other as long as it's in a positive projection and not out of spite or discriminatory.

Thanks! Thats the first time i've had a suggestion accepted Very Happy (small as it may be)

Sure n00bs dont read them when they join, but it think any serious frihosters (meaning anybody with > 50 posts) will at some point read them - if not out of necesity then out of interest. (they are afterall mentioned in something like 50% of all threads Very Happy)

After my previous suggestion i felt like fine reading the rules...Razz...anyway...i noticed something very peculiar:

Shouldnt PM's be mentioned in the rules post?

Although you may not wish to control the content of them in the same way that you control forum posts there are still some concerns...

1: Spam - I know this hasent been a problem yet but it could easily become a problem if some annoying advertiser gets his/ger eyes up for the frihost forum

2: Content - Rascism, Fascism, Insults etc. arent allowed in PM's surely

3: Content - pornographic elements shouldnt be allowed w/ the high amount of u 18's there are on these forums

There are probably more rules which should be set up for PM's - I'll let you tihnk of them Very Happy

Do they need to be changed or am i missing something ?

PMs of course should not be used for any of those but is there much point in having rules for them? Especially since users can block other users who send them rubbish.

PMs are private - that's what the P stands for.

I dont think admins can see the PMs unless they get into our account by getting our password, right?

I am not sure, if this can be implemented

If it can, then it is well and good

that situation wasn't overlooked.

But if you receive any harrassing pm, please referr it to the team (and THEN lock the spammer out). even with the power to block them out, reporting abuse to us may prevent the user from spamming other users.

there are other ways to check these situations. remember that phpbb forums (and pm's included) are based on MySQL databases.

Anyway, implementing a system like this would be a problem and since Bondings doesnt have time and is busy, I think it will be a while before this is even agreed to.
He's already got his hands full with the ruby on rails stuff
