Accessing mysql database thru software on local machine

ocalhoun
This should be simple, but I can't seem to get it to work.
I'm trying to access the mysql databases on my webspace through a third party program running on my computer.
(I'm only doing this because when I try to use phpmyadmin, I get a cannot find server error)
I need to fill out the following information to connect:
-MySQL Host address (Not entirely sure, so I'll wait for a response, should it be www.frihost.com or www.onet.frih.net?)
-User Name (easy enough: ocalhoun_Aerth)
-Password (again easy, it's the same password I use for everything)
-Port (I'm using 3306, and have no idea if its correct)

I am coming from behind a firewall, but I do not have any way to change (or even view) the firewall settings, so I'm currently ignoring the possibility of that interfering, as there's nothing I can do about it.

Getting phpmyadmin to work would also be a solution to this problem.
It's no big deal, but I do need some way to manualy edit mysql databases on this server.

Well you shouldn't be able to connect to the mysql database from outside the server. For security reasons it's better to disable it. (the host would have been the ip-address I guess, it is 216.32.85.170; the port something like that)

About phpMyAdmin, that should certainly be working. Try http://www.frih.net/phpMyAdmin/ and log in with the username/password of the database and not the one for your hosting account.

Well, that works so thanks.
However, the link from directadmin to phpmyadmin still dosen't work.
It goes to this url: http://localhost/phpmyadmin
Anyway, thanks for the working link!

This also happened to me for a number of months. It should sort itself out on its own like it did with me. It is not known what causes it. I never checked this but when you hover over the phpMyAdmin link in your DA what URL does it point to ?
