What are the steps that you take to attract more visitors to your site.
Every webmaster comes to that point where the counter just isnt ticking anymore.
So what do you put extra on your site to just get that ticker going again
SEO -> Search Engine Optimisation
It would be possible to write a degree on SEO, but here are some quick tips:
- Exchange links with other sites
- Get you site listed in as many directories as possible
- Make sure you regularely add more content to you site (important!)
- Make sure there is a reason for you users to come back
- write <meta> tags (not neccesarely that useful)
- Design your site to solve the customer / users problems.

Make sure the site is regularly updated, and it's something easy for the guest to pick up and read.
Make the home page clean and something to attract the user. Don't overload the links or the text. Most people just skim over it anyway, so make it sound interesting so people will want to read more.
Make sure the color scheme is in good taste. Have a scheme and stick with it. Don't jump from blue to red and then to black on white. (Don't do blue on red, it's terrible
).

Blue and red are, in fact, complimentary colours and although i agree that they often get combined in awful ways, they can be combined to give the site a very "posh" feel - they can look good together!
Is there a place where i can find all complementary colours to use in webdesign ? ? ?
- try experimenting yourself to see what looks good..
here are a couple of tips on how to achieve a "professional" result:
- Use gradients
- Use colours with less saturation
- stick to ONE colour scheme for your entire site
- Use pleanty of blacks, greys and whites together with one or max. two other colours
- Use a colour which represents what you want
to maintain your color scheme/design use CSS and/or PHP includes instead of frames and tables. Your site will be more consistent and users will associate that consistancy with your site. That way it will be easy to keep all your pages on the same design scheme.
I like what LukeakaDanish said, although I'd change the last line to "design it to solve their problems."

at colorcombo you can scroll and see what looks good.
There are websites that provide free traffic for your websites for placing some ads or something. paid traffic too helps. Softwares like traffic hurricane should help you. web ceo 6.0 i heard is good for seo. Be careful about link exchange you might lose visitors too.
This suggestion might be a little more "out there", but I'm more likely to visit a website that is offering me a valuable resource/tutorial/anything useful for free. It's a nice little hook to draw people in, and once they take advantage of whatever you're offering them that might be useful, they're sure to browse the rest of your site. Don't forget to add "free ___" in your internet search tags!
Hi, a nice website color is if you take a picture up in the sky with nothing other than the blue sky and some clouds. And sometime you should try to take a picture when it's dark outside, if u live in a bigger state it will be many roadlights and so on and then you get a lovely puple/blue/pink/red and all kind of colours!! try it sometime

The sky is the ultimate gradient
- and one which countless (web) designers have tried to imitate

SEO is the key. If you do the Search engine Optimization for your site carefully and in a regular manner, no doubt it will draw some attention. But to make people come again to your site you must have some quality contents.
Very useful thanks! Are there other Sites where we can learn more about web designing?

There are absolutely loads of good webdesign sites - just search with google and you should quickly be able to find some yourself.
For the programming side of things i recomend www.quirksmode.org as an excelent resource for css and markup tips
Er, provide content that will keep the users coming back- games, puzzles, a community, stories etc.

And where do you get your content. From other sites, tv,... ? ? ?
Or do you try to make your own content.

Im afraid content needs to be written by you!
- a good "visitor atractor" is tutorials or guides which "help" the visitor in some way - for ex. you might wanny have a section explaining cricket on your site
