Well any physical work is not easy. It is all about finding a rythem and starting to find reasons on why you might enjoy it. My biggest problem when I was trying to loose weight was consistency, I just could not commit for a long period of time. However over time I found that attitude and the way we think about things is the basic cause of commitment lacking. Once I found and convinced myself about bad habbit I had, I was able to find reasons to stay on exercise routine and hence enjoy it.

Yeah I gotta agree the body builders today look like freaks. www.t-nation.com a lot of the authors state that the golden era of body building was the late 60's to mid 80's and then after that they started to look wierd, not human!

I've been working out for over 30 years, I'm almost 50. You don't need to spend hours in the gym to be well built, and you can carry a fair amount of lean muscle mass without the use of steroids, just a good diet and regular workouts. If your lift time is over 45 minutes long, you're doing too much, Stick to basics, one or two basic exercises per body part, 24 to 25 reps per exercise, you can go 3sets 8 reps, or 4sets 6 reps, or 5x5 or 6x4 or 8x3, obviously the less reps you do the heavier the weights, but there is a lot to be said for 3 full body workouts per week, and the progress you can make off them, just change up the exercises every 2 weeks, and do your variations of squats and deadlifts, pull ups and chins, and the rest of the body parts, and you can be really well built, and not spend a lot of time getting that way. Most important aspect though is DIET!! You can't out train a bad diet! You have to eat properly to fuel the muscle growth, without dialing in your diet you are just spinning your wheels!

Steroids are good but their illegal and the result wont last long.Unfortunately the power and the muscles can decrease after the course is over, growth hormone is also cool but tunnel syndrome is unpleasant.Exercising is good but the result without magic injections wont be as great as with them Very Happy

Danger of steroids is in their metabolism.Testosterone binds to an enzyme called aromatase which converts it to estrogen. This enzyme is usually present in adipose tissue (fat), so fat people will experience higher estrogen levels usually.
To undergo aromatization - a steroid must possess a chemical structure similar to testosterone. So testosterone aromatizes to estrogen, methandienone aromatizes to methylestradiol, methyltestosterone also aromatizes to methylestradiol. DHT on the contrary cannot aromatize because due to its structure, its unable to "fit" in the aromatase enzyme, so it doesnt bind to it. So steroids which are derivatives of DHT usually cannot aromatize. (Stanazolol, Oxandrolone, Masteron all do not aromatize). Anadrol does NOT aromatize either contrary to what you think. The reason that it causes estrogenic side effects are because it binds and activates the estrogen receptor itself.
There are also steroids that bind to the aromatase, but no chemical reaction takes place, so they deactivate the enzyme because no other steroid can bind to it anymore - its already taken. Proviron is one of such substances.

So, if you have a high level of androgens in the body that can aromatize, you can expect a high level of estrogen also. If theres a high level of DHT related compounds, expect estrogen levels to be low.

At the IFBB New York Pro this year the day was carried by a 27-year-old first-timer Evan Centopani to the ear-splitting cheer of the New York City crowd. The new pro put in quite an impressive performance and scooped up an Olympia qualification, $15k, a NY Pro ring and a good deal of popularity.
Big Dennis James followed on his heels, mustering all his 247 pounds in a perfectly tight show, beating his own previous appearance at the Arnold.
The walls of the Tribeca Performing Arts Center got a good shakedown when it was let out that the popular Marcus Ruhl was the third. His freakishness was running high as usual, but there were many who shrugged at his physique judged as not quite up to the mark.
On the contrary, the well-tanned Hidetada Yamagishi looked sprightly and on his toes, acquitted himself well and became the last one to collect that evening.

It places Evan Centopani and Marcus Ruhl in this year’s Olympia lineup. The oncoming show gives definite promise of presenting a fairly fierce competition for the qualification.

202 division, which ran a high level of competition too, ended in the New Yorker Kevin English’s favor. It is the second year in a row that he does the trick! English proved his worth with a vengeance and threw his impressive upper body around very much to his credit. He cut a great figure for all his drawbacks (his right and left legs are not a perfect fit and experts find fault with his midsection). Yet looking at his chest you may easily mistake his weight for a bigger one.

BigGeek, do you have a favorite body building/fitness website? Something to help a guy get started on specific exercises for excellent fitness? I agree with your statements on diet. I'm eating five 100 calorie, 10 carbs and 10 proteins meals and two meals of a salad, green veggies and a hunk of meat. My goal is that by the end of this year to be able to finish a mini-Ironman ( half a 70.3 race). That's a .6 mile swim, 28 mi bike and a 6.5 mile run. I need a resistance routine to help build my core strength.

I agree, bodybuilders have started to look like freaks.

I think it was only with the onset of steroids that that level of muscle mass was possible?

With steroids they looked good and their shape shape was OK.
Now apart from steroids bodybuilders use insulin(which increases the protein anabolism) and Human Growth hormone(that's why their stomachs are so big now).Plus nearly all top bodybuilders inject synthol, the classic example of modern bodybuilder freak is Markus Ruhl.He has got synthol in his triceps and biceps and his stomach is really weird.

I want make sport this year. I want to increase my power level. I do not want to increase muscle mass

What exercises should I do for that?
Rajiev
Well I dont consider Body building as a sport. Its a personnel intrest and body building lead to decreas of health most of the time. So unlike most of the sporrts, this is not good for physical (or sometimes mental) wel bieng Sad

people do it as a personnel interest. So do I.

It is soo hard. Like meditation. the hardest period is the period till you get used to it. Once you get going, it says you cant stop Surprised
