Just been reading the topic about adsense & thought I'd ask about adwords aswell.
My site will be launching in a few weeks so I'm looking at using both.
Have you had experience with it? any tips, advice?

I dont use any special techniques (prolly thats why i dont get too many hits). I got about 2.7k visitors last month. A good chunk is from search engines.
I put in meta tags in my forum using the tutorial on the phpbb site and later downloaded a mod which automatically inserts meta tags in the forum.
I also manually applied to Google search engine and some others.
For the last couple of days, my forum is being crawled by google. Although I cannot say whether it has been formally accepted and is visible on Google.
By the way, I read an interesting article on another forum. The gist was that one must not go in for search engine optimisation using certain dishonest methods popularised by some seo sites which promise you the moon. Rather, if the content is attractive and rich, gradually your forum or site for that matter will be crawled by quality search engines such as google.
Can i place my site in search engines like yahoo,google,msn for no cost?
If anyone know any way for that plz tell me.But there is one thing my websites are either a blog or a redirected webpage!!There lies the problem!!!!!!In that state can i do the above mentioned?

simple always add meta tags, be consistent to your contents, update it regularly...

just joking. hehe, make it possible that every bot on the net crawls your page and you will move your way up the ladder of SEO's. But the thing is, everybody knows this. Your only chance would be to create something that will be of extreme use. If you're planning on mediocrity, I doubt you would make it, it will take time though.. you can add your site to search engines for free!

Thank you...I'll add the MSN link to my list of over 200,000 currently available (at least on my submission list). 
i use a whole heap of different ways, having correct keywords and relevant content is a great start. There are thousands of Search engines out there. But i use a few lists to get exposure, link exchanges, there are a few places that run programs that are similar to adwords but are free. To be honest doing everything for free is possible but can be very time consuming. There are traffic exchanges, plenty of software that will make it a little easier to promote your site. But if you have relevant content and keywords it shouldnt take long to start getting results from search engines. hehehehe hope that was helpful.

yes u can get ur site listed in these sites for free. ...A slight correction Yahoo charges a fee for commercial sites, but if the site is a personal one it is still free to submit to.
How do I attract people to my free site?
Do I have to configure some code in my domain so that the web crawler get addiducted to it?
Suggest some tricks to do this with frihost?

The number one thing you need is patience.
After the site launches, it may take a week (or several) before Google begins to crawl your site. It may then take Google a couple more weeks to start crawling your site regularly...
I just launched my site in the beginning of August. I signed up with Google, submitted the site, and submitted a site map. It started getting visits from googlebot, and within two or three weeks it hard been partially crawled and the front page was listed.
At this point, it wasn't getting crawled regularly or thoroughly though. My postings weren't getting listed, just the front page. After another two or three weeks, the crawls became more thorough. The full site was listed, with individual postings. The crawl was also being re-done/updated every two or three days.
I don't know if that's typical, but that's my experience of the process. So don't expect to get listed and start receiving lots of traffic in a couple days...
As for some tips to help the process along, here are some of the things I did.
Submit a sitemap. Google says it helps, so it couldn't hurt.
Update the content constantly. If nothing changes, Google isn't going to come back and re-cawl every day or two.
Get links to your site. This will improve your pagerank and credibility of your site, and it should also help getting the original crawls done. Some places to start out are similar blogs/websites, free directories, etc.

That is really a big problem for attrcat people to your site.Google Adword maybe a good way but it is not free.
social networking sites really helps a lot..........stumbleupon and digg are my fav...
I have a blog and for me the best way to attract people is post TITLES
title attract people to read post.
And i post my blog links on many forums so get more visitors
