I need an introduction to cgi-bin

Mamsaac
well, mainly, how to use it with my site, how to install the scripts and that's pretty much it.

I might suck at looking for tutorials, but I haven't been able to find it.

You need a Perl, C, Unix shell, Visual Basic (Windows), AppleScript (Mac) file that does a particular function. Put it in that the cgi-bin folder. Link to it through the <form> tag, method = "post". CGI isn't really used a lot now, PHP does what CGI does but with more positives (faster etc.).

The cgi is a method of calling scripts from webservers. They parse a script every time
it's called.
Many websites use php as cgi. It's a matter of configuration.
But php ( and perl ) can also be used as modules so the webserver parse ( compile ) the
script the first time it's called and thus get faster execution for large scripts.

The sites with free web space useally offers their own cgi-scripts like guest-books , counters.

To make a script in perl make sure You get rid of the \r in the script .
Most windows editors add Carrige return newline at the end of the line
when You have to use just newline
