This should probably go in the jobs section, people ask this in there all the time. Bear in mind that I'm from the UK and not India so things may well be different.

A few things I have noticed about Web Designers;

Compared to other tech jobs they get paid relatively little, but that is because for most tech jobs you need a degree. For web design you don't. This is a plus if you don't want to go to university.

The web design market is also VERY competetive especially at your level. Web design tends to be the chosen profession for those computer literate people who come straight out of college. An awful lot of them are also pretty clueless as to how to run a businness.

If you are "simply loving this field" then you should look into it more. You don't have to make it a full-time job. You could do it as a hobby for friends family etc or as an extra part-time job, charging small local businesses and people.Wink

As for 'excelling' you should feel confident and know all the little tricks, if you want the upper edge. In the end however I think it is creativity, imagination and so forth that put you above the rest. Laughing

The prospects I'm not so sure about. The web is growing at alarming rate and its hard to know what will happen and what and will mean for web designers. Rolling Eyes

I LOVED web designer and started a website of my own. While making the site, I read many books and did tons of research, and I believe now I'm closer to a web designer.

Maybe that helped?

Web designer is learning all life Smile
If You like it - learn it ... html is easy ... CSS - some problem with diffrent browsers (when You make an css based layout you have to check it in every browser, but it is a lot of satisfaction when everything works gr8)
When You learn CSS/(x)HTML start learning PHP Smile JS is not so important now Smile

Hello,

I think that If you really like web designing then you should not waste your time in doing crash courses.

You should install Microsoft FrontPage which is a wysiwyg editor which can be used to create a text page to a high quality graphic website.

You just have to browse the web to learn HTML.

Like after you have installed FP on your computer you just have to open a page you like and click the FP button on your inter net toolbar.

It will make that webpge into a HTML with source code and then you can grab the functionalities by exploring how the site is made.

HTML Designing is a no big deal.

You can download free website templates to get more experienced.

So start making your site now.

You can also earn by making adsense friendy sites and sell them.

Best wishes

Thanks

FrontPage isn't recommended - It's just like MS Word Razz It makes trash from Html code Razz
If it have to be Wysiwyg - use dreamweaver - when You learn some HTML the macromedia product is gr8 coding tool (automatic close tags, coloring code, templates for xhtml/html/css etc.)
You may use free notepad replicements like Notepad++ too Smile

I'm studying Multimedia and communication technologics. We have classes like Visual Basic.Net, Java, xHtml and css, Javascript, Photoshop, illustrator, Flash and actionscript, JSP, ASP.Net, PHP, Premiere, DVD Encore, bussiness logics and many more...

And after 3years you get a degree.. So a degree in webdesign can come handy... webdesign isn't just html and css ....!
