Style XP is not a skinning engine. It uses Microsoft's built-in visual style engine, but enhances it by providing many useful tools. Style XP can import, select, rotate, and manage themes, visual styles, wallpapers, logons, bootscreens, icons, cursors and explorer bar. Future versions may support sounds, screensavers, and packages of all the above. How does it work? Instead of lines and gradients, the XP user interface natively supports the use of skinned bitmap controls (a visual style). This is Microsoft's own innovation. Style XP includes its own visual styles. Style XP is supports Windows XP, Windows XP Service Pack 1 and 2, Tablet PC, or Server 2003.

YES!i agree that these things will slow down the computer's performance!I should i try it first.. before any comments thnks for the links

Personally, i dont mind using these things because my computer can handle them...now. But i remember before with my old machine, it couldnt really handle running them. I agree that they slow down your machine if its sorta old and slow to begin with but most newer computers dont get effected that much.

Also i have tracked down that a virus/trojan by the name of nail.exe comes from this style xp. Along with a host of other sypware and adware. I would stay away from this at all costs. If you are in need of cool styles. Try to find ones that are already int he windows format, it is much easier and safer. It will also use none of your system resources as it doesnt need processes running all the time to keep it going. I found a pack with liek 50 themes, and wallpapers to match them on Bit torrent. I use them all the time. they are pretty nifty.
Even if it's slowing down PC it's doesn't matter. This software is for bringing to our windows new look. Who's using old PCs?? On my Athlon XP 2800M with 1Ghz RAM memory it doesn't seems to be slowed down.
style xp doesn't bring anythin but problems with it.
sure, it might look good. but your system will suffer in time.
it will start to hog memory. cause the odd exception errors.
maybe you'll get lucky and it will make your system crash.

i like FlyaKite OS X better. in fact, it's addictive. StyleXP is a resource hog.
