yes, here is my information.
Firstly, my email provider is the frihost. Take my email as example, my email is email@example.com. I can receive email successfully, however, I am not able to send email using that server.
My email client is outlook express.
There is only one account in my outlook, that is the firhost account.

- Who is your e-mail provider?
- Which email clent do you use?
- What are your current setting?Are they as per the e-mail providers requirments?

I had problems with my email too (but I used MS outlook), and I went to Site-Helper. Here is the part that solved my problem:
|When setting up POP3 account(s) in your e-mail software, you will need to enable SMTP authentication if you choose to use your hosting account for sending mail (instead of using your ISP's mail server).
The SMTP authorization login name / password is the same as your POP3 account login name / password.
How to do this varies by e-mail client. In MS Outlook: Tools, Accounts, select the account and click Properties. Then, under the Servers tab, check "My server requires authentication."
Please consult with your e-mail software's manual for further instruction.

But Frihost's settings are same for both incomming and outgoing mails.
And in your case it will be : mail.thealpha.frih.net
And the default ports do work fine. Check your accounts page for such details: http://www.frihost.com/forums/account.php

mail.frih.net will also work if you're having problems with the above setting. Please note that your username for the outgoing server is firstname.lastname@example.org - not louis.
