I am about to get a car from work (I pay for it a considerable amout of money, though the gas is free).
Anyway, I have to choose what will replace my Mazda Lantis 323 -
New Ford Focus - only 2 air bags, a little weak, not as accessorized
Mitsubishi Lancer 2007 - 6 airbags, much more accessorized
what would you choose?
The mitsubishi for sure. I would rather pay for the car then the gas. that is for sure. So i think the mitsubishi is the best thing for you. They run longer too. The Jap cars are much better then the american cars.
I'd have to say to stay away from the focus. American car manufacturers have never made a good four banger. (Likewise, you should stay away from Jap V8's.) Anyway, if I had to pay for a company car, I'd use my own.
I thought Ford Focus is quite good. Very nippy and the steering is very responsive too. For Japanese cars, I prefer Toyota and Honda. But I think they are more expensive.
between those two i woud choose the focus. and that is not by much. the lancer is pretty ugly, if you were gonna get that maybe pay for an older used evo.

Crap man how much is gas where you live?
Unless you drive a but load where the gas used is more than the monthly payment each month, and the maintenance is all paid by the company, I wouldn't mind paying for the company car.
Who holds the title of the car?

Gas cost is very high, as in most palces i guess, and it just keep getting up.
The title of the car is of the company. It is worth it - believe me, most of the hi-tech workers take the deal because it is good. It is much cheaper than buying a new car in the same class and paying gas and other expenses (or buying a good used one)
I was told the Lancer comes 6 airbags, not sure about the Focus but i think it has less. On the other hand it got the best mark on crash tests... I'm still thinking about it.
On the subject of cars, we had a Daihatsu Fourtrak for many years and it was one of the best cars we ever had, solid, good mpg, VERY good tower, nippy, it was brilliant. Nice and tall as well.
This isnt ours, but its very simmilar. ours was a 1992 2.8 TDI (turbo diesel intercooler), we got it in 95 and sold it in 02. We had one accident in it (I wasent there) and it needed literally an entire new back end and prop-shaft, but they still fixed it. A car had rear-ended it at 60mph but it was still repaired which was good!
well i decided on the Ford focus eventually. The lancer is quite old (ythe model) and the only advantage it has is more accesories and an engine the sims stronger. after driving both i think the ford is much more comfortable and modern.
I'll come back and tell you how i like it when i get it.
Thanks.
Sounds like you already made your choice bro. I suggest buying a hybrid car though because it will save you in the long run.
Ford Focus's are garbage. Lancer's arn't that much better though. Test drive them both, and make up your own mind, but I'd go for the Lancer.
it has to be either the 323 or the lancer... the 323 is certanly a great car, but between these two i'll take the lancer. the 323 is anyway a good alternative. whatever you do DO NOT pick the focus... that's for sure. it's not a matter of american-japanese car, it's just that the 323 and the lancer are way better than the focus... that's what I think, at least.
