It's in production! Being made by the students of DAVE School (Digital Animation & Visual Effects). It's based off the new Age of Destruction instead of the Classic Battletech mechs. No clue what software they used. I think the intro to Mechwarrior 4 was very well done. The technology is there and there are tons of books. I think if someone were to follow Battletech lore very closely they could make a killer Mechwarrior movie.

Saddly i do not know any attempt to produce a "real" hollywood movie, there was a rumor in 2003 with Paramount Pictures, but since then, i didn't heart more about that. I agree that this film will be a "must" for some decads, like the StarWars.

hahahaha, this is prety simple 3D animation, all 3D work seems to be done in 3DS Max, and there is film composited with 3D. where did they get the film from, I don't don't know... maybe they are also shooting live performance...
