I need your help! /w phpBB.v2

Hey guys, I'm trying to run a phpBB forum on my website, and for some reason... i can't get it to work.

Here is some info, I'm using FTP Voyager to upload my files, and Dreamweaver for actual site creation, although i haven't touched my phpBB files with Dreamweaver yet, just fyi.

Ok, I downloaded the phpbb files directly from :http://www.phpbb.com/

I then followed their flash tutorial here : http://atrocity.frih.net/forum/install/install.php

and when I try to access the install.php it shows up as this : http://static.flickr.com/44/155705835_b06e3cb236_o.jpg

I went through the tutorial tit for tat, I set the upload to be "auto-ASCII" which is as close to the automatic setting in CuteFTP as I can get.

What mistakes have I made? This is my first time running a server, so please, talk to me like I was a 10yr old kid with downs syndrome Wink

ok, additionally, i can't seem to connect to that forum by going to http://atrocity.frih.net/public_html/Forum/install/install.php

which I SHOULD be able to do... i think at least, but i can access it from my DirectAdmin interface, please, someone enlighten me.

Seems like you used a completly fault url. The root of your website (thus from http://atrocity.frih.net/) is in the folder /domains/atrocity.frih.net/public_html/. So when you access your website via the url http://atrocity.frih.net/ , you will actually see the index.html that is in the folder /domains/atrocity.frih.net/public_html/.
The same goes for every subdir from public_html:
http://atrocity.frih.net/Forum/ = index-file in /domains/atrocity.frih.net/public_html/Forum/
So you need to leave out public_html in your url. The page will be accessible at http://atrocity.frih.net/Forum/install/install.php

I R stupid rofl, that was apparently the whole issue, putting the lowercase "F"...

thanks for the help man, still don't know why/how I was getting that entirely messed up webpage going to the config, but thanks man, I appreciate it.

You probably askes a preview from that file, but the php-code wasn't interpreted by the parser. So the browser parsers the html, but he doesn't know what to do with the php, so he just leaves it alone Smile

ok, now that you helped me out with that, could I ask you one more question?

what do i put into the

Database Name :
Database Username:
Database Pass :

?

I didn't get this info in my message when they accepted to host me, how do i go about getting this info?
