It has been years since I developed a website. There have been many technological marvels that have come along since the last time. I am almost finished with my new site, and I am very pleased. Not so much that I put to use a lot of the technology that so many others have mastered, in fact I kept it fairly simple. What I am so pleased about is that I am almost finished!

I have talked to many people out there who STARTED building a site but never quite finished. There are so many reasons and excuses. While my site is maybe 14 or 15 pages, it takes a lot of creative thinking to make the site pleasing to the eye. I had to really think quite a bit. Sometimes I just don't want to! That was why I worked for websites rather than building. I am on my own now so I have no choice.

Content is a pain in the rear. I am a writer, but getting solidly readable content is not as easy as it sounds. Most of you know what I am talking about.

I would like to hear from those who are working on, or have abandoned their web project. I am putting together another component to my site and may be interested in joining forces and helping you finish yours or vise versa.

I am really interested in those great ideas that are having trouble developing fully or not at all. Tell us what is happening and why you are stuck. I think it would be fun to hear about it!

So no takers huh? Everybody here is a website finishing fool, huh? RIGHT!

I totally agree that making a website is a hard thing. But most people make them just for the fun of it, something like a hobby.
As for me, it is a hobby. My sites will always be less than 5 pages mainly because i'm very lazy, and I have a bad imagination. Confused

And you know what else you are? Honest! That counts for a lot.

Sure they are a great hobby. I have been aware that a lot of young people would like to make it more than that and maybe make a little money too. Since there are very few jobs out there for teenagers. I am brainstorming some things right now, so we will see.

I think it's a little easier if you make one for another person. Then with their ideas you can lead them and mould the site to their wishes but with your skills.

I totally buy into that. I write lyrics really well and almost immediately for other peoples music. When I compose my own song, writing the lyrics is tougher. So I agree with you there.

MY SITE IS FINALLY FINISHED! YEAH!!!!!

Really this is the small site or part #1. I have a much more critical site to build, but I am hoping to get some help with that one. I haven't built a site in so many years... That is why it took so long this time. I'm going to beaf up some stuff on it and that will be easier now that the bulk of it is finished.

I am not sure if you want suggestions for your site or not, if you do i am willing to give a few.

I myself am on the verge of abandoning one of my projects now and ready to jump on to another

I feel that my current one is pretty bland and it is also very tough to cover many topics in one go

So I am starting a site for just one specific topic.

Have to see how that goes

Agreed im also very lazy, well that and i have no other html editing tool except for notepad, and very little time and i still managed to make my site, which was a bit of a flop since im way too busy to do anything on it, it turned out alright...i guess

No, not really. My site is probably something you are not really understanding. Did you read any content? It's not a beauty contest, it is a plain vanilla "Brochure" site. It is not about being cool, it is about information.

So if you want to critique the design... No I'm not interested. If you have some content suggestion, then I suggest you read it in its entirety. All the questions are answered. The business end of the site is the forum, not the site itself. Then there is going to be an entertainment site. Now that will have lot's of bells and whistles. This site doesn't need it

I looked at your site. Nice template. It's old though, probably 2002 vintage. What is it about anyway, templates? Do you have any positive business feedback related to content? That's cool if you do, we all need guidelines I guess.

The Design site is nice. That's a template also. I have seen so many templates I can almost tell you who made them. I don't use them. I design by hand mainly. If it's not a template I apologize, but it looks like one that I have viewed before.

So you have two FriHost accounts? Cool. You're a web designer? Great! Do you do original design, because I will need a designer soon and standard commercial designs are very pricey. I don't run websites I promote talent. So I am outsourcing the work.

Let me know how much you charge for a php based color background design 25 pages or so, minimal SQL or ASP, possibly VERY little, with graphics that I will supply for the most part and lots of hotlinking to JV partner sites with return hotlinking back from them to me. Moderate object linking on site with possibly 10 or 12 software installs or less. The database will probably be more intense that I am saying (wishful thinking).

I am a professional writer. Maybe we can exchange services and do each other a favor. Who knows. Also, I can use your design services on referral. In other words I can refer people to you. No cash from you is needed. I just need the availablity. No guarantees of course, but if you are pretty good, and you do seem to be a cool person to me, so?

Thanks for asking anyway rather than just blurting something out. That is very classy! And, if you have some POSITIVE suggestion that would make my site BETTER, than by all means. Thanks Scorpio!
