I think the war on drugs is a huge joke, so this comic-style article bashing it just cracks me up.
Shouldn't people be allowed to do as they please, as long as they don't hurt anyone else?

That's the problem - THEY are hurting themselves and more importantly, other people. Underage drinking, smoking, etc. They hurt and/or kill OTHER people through their actions. They've lost their inhibitions, but they're still responsible for their actions.

And no, it would be complete chaos if people could just do what they wanted.

Those things are illegal regardless of what drugs are considered legal. The massive war on drugs is not intended to stop underage drinking and smoking. I have no problems with preventing children from doing drugs. I have a problem with preventing adults from doing drugs. Also consider all the crime caused by black markets. If drugs were legal gangs would virtually disappear. Murder rates in urban areas would plummit (most killings in urban areas are drug related). Organized crime in this country got a huge boost by the eighteenth amendment. The government realized that it made a huge mistake, and fixed it within 13 years. I don't know why the same hasn't happened with other drugs.

Soulfire, do you think alcohol should be legal? If so, how is it so different?

Soulfire, aren't you a Republican? The federal government spends more than $600 per second in the war on drugs. Don't you believe in limited government? Or does that not apply when you disagree with something?

I agree to what you say, But do you know what alot of these drug dealers are putting in their product? They are trying to make money so they sell crap which for the same price you can get better quality off the dealer.
