Hello there,
I'm Renato, from south Germany. I spent some time looking around for a suitable free web host, and after reading many reviews and fine-print, decided to try FriHost out.
I'm a student in mechanical engineering, but after I got my first internet connection started staying increasingly longer periods online. No, not chatting - that's the reason there are no ICQ numbers and the like on my profile: I don't use these services. I surf the net to learn, to absorb information, to have fun. I don't buy newspapers or magazines, I read everything online. After I found Gutenberg.org I even started reading online. And as long as my X is cooperating, I don't even print anything. Paper is a luxury, and should be used accordingly.
So, all this information soaking rather shifted my interests from machines that rotate or otherwise move to machines whose single moving parts are fans, HD spindles and keyboard keys. Web design is not really my thing, as I lack that artistic flair, but it's quite fun, so here I am..
My first project in FriHost will (hopefully) be a photo gallery. I did some work on setting up a simple website on a commercial host, and deployed a TWiki platform in a IT company. Both were straightforward, as the former was standard XHTML and the second provided admin privileges in the server. I wonder how hard it will be to deploy http://gallery.menalto.com in FriHost..
What's more: south Germany! Servus, Gruss Gott und Weisswurstfruhstuck. And, cliches aside, I just feel wonderful here. Great weather, mountains to the south, lakes all around, huge libraries, wonderful cultural offering - even though I prefer to sit a while listening to students playing in the street.
Cheers,
Renato
