hi guys,
i am trying to play a clip in Real player but it asks me to install the MPEG 2 Support Plug in.
When the player contacts the real network to install this codec it just doesnt install the codec.
Just giving me the warning that i have to install the codec in order to play this file.
What can i do or are there other and better free players on the market.

Don't ya hate that?! I used to go through that with Windows Media Player all the time. Rolling Eyes

Well no MPEG 2 support plug in on that site.

Uh... if you download one of those codec packs, (like K-Lite) you should get an MPEG 2 codec that RealPlayer will probably use.

MPEG2 is a proprietary format, so in order to use it, you need to pay royalties. If you don't have an MPEG2 decoder on your computer, you'll need to buy a commercial DVD playing program (OEM versions will work too - you might have got one with your computer).

If a program offers "free" MPEG2 decoding, it's illegal.

That is also probably the reason why you cant code MPEG 2 files to streaming files with RealProducer.
No alternative to play this file ? ?
