MySQL database

roadruner
I've got a little problem
i've just set up my site on your servers and i would like to restore the MySQL database data from the site i was running before
but the problem is that in order to do that, i'd have to have the same database name as i had on the other server

the easiest way to solve this would be if you guys could change my control panel username Smile
because you probably wouldn't do it just like that i'd give my FRIH$ away if necessary(it's not much but still Smile ) or maybe something else

i would be really gratefull if you could do me this favour SmileVery Happy

You don't have to get a change of username to do so. We will not give you one change either.

Just restore your database on our servers, then change your configuration file for the program you are using accordingly.
roadruner
tnx for the quick response Smile

well if i could restore it i wouldn't be asking about it here Wink
i tried restoring but it just doesn't want to Sad
the main problem is the server wants a .tar.gz but i have .sql.gz Razz

It's impossible to get a .sql.gz Confused

Is your mySQL database still available for download at your previous webhost?
Bondings
Roadruner, did you try it in phpMyAdmin? And how big is the database?

well that is what i downloaded (several times today) and it had a .sql.gz

well as much as i can see importing in phpmyadmin is not enabled, only exporting :/

gzipped it's about 200kb, otherwise it's 1MB
n0obie4life
As far as I can remember, you can only export a .sql or a .tar.gz through phpmyadmin Confused

If you meant a .sql, just create a database in DA, then login to phpmyadmin, press import..then import the whole .sql file.

only export Confused
n0obie4life
You sure?

I am able to find my import button at the top Confused

Click on the database name at the left first. Then click on "query".
roadruner

this is what i see
n0obie4life
Sorry, I meant click on "SQL".
roadruner
well in there i browsed for the file and pressed go, it was uploading the file but when it stops, nothing new happens and there are no new database tables
it's like i didn't do anything Confused
n0obie4life
Open up the SQL file in wordpad.

Copy everything.

Paste it in the text-box and press submit query Wink
roadruner
and after a while of waiting i get this Sad:

You don't have permission to access /phpMyAdmin/read_dump.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
n0obie4life
How big is your .sql file Confused

If it's not too big, maybe I can help you with it.
roadruner
it's 1,4 MB

but now i have to go so i'll have to continue this on monday

thanks for all your help so far Very Happy

Try using this script to restore your database - http://www.ozerov.de/bigdump.php

It's called big dump it breaks the SQL file down into small chunks and then executes the querys.

I used it to restore my phpBB database. Hope it helps
roadruner
well in the end decided to try new software Smile
i would like to try out new stuff to compare a bit and i guess a new webhost would be a good time to do something like that Smile

thanks for all your help Smile
