Aaron Copeland

Oh, I just cannot express how much I love his music.

He just has such fantastic music. He has a rivalry, though.

Stravinsky.

What classical composer do you like? (Besides the obvious - Mozart, Chopin, etc...)

Well, Chopin wasn't Classical, he was Romantic. The divisions are:
  • Baroque: 1600-1750
  • Classical: 1750-1800
  • Romantic: 1800-1920
    • Early: 1800-1830
    • Middle: 1830-1870
    • Late: 1870-1920
  • Modern: 1920-

Thus, Aaron Copland [correct spelling] was Modern, and Stravinsky was Lat Romantic into Modern.

For Classical, my favourite is Mozart (sorry to be so obvious). Though I generally prefer Baroque, my musical tastes are varied and eclectic (e.g. I'm a big fan of Tangerine Dream).

In the Modern period, I like Aaron Copland, John Tavener, Arvo Pärt, Maurice Duruflé, John Rutter, and especially Gabriel Fauré (I consider "Cantique de Jean Racine" to be one of the most sublimely beautiful songs ever written).

No problem - just clarifying the definitions, since it is a common error.

"Orchestral" might be a good choice, as well, since "instrumental" could also be applied to "Liquid Tension Experiment," but nobody would consider them Classical. Laughing (I do wish they had made more than two CDs, though).
