So I was watching CNN the other day and the u.s. pres Bush was making some speech about illegal immagrants.
He thinks they should 1) learn to speak english 2) pay taxes and 3) have a job for several years.. and then they can apply for legal citizenship. Now, correct me if I'm wrong.. but how isn't it illegal for an illegal immagrant to have a job? So we would have to assume they would go under a fake id, and pay taxes? Isn't that tax fraud?
So he's encouraging illegal activites among illegal immagrants. Wow, genius.
Now again, I could only stand to watch a few min of this news blerb before I had to leave the room.. it is Bush after all.. so I don't know if there was anyone trying to explain what he REALLY meant after or not. Have fun with that one!
That's the one area that I disagree with the president in. I figure we could discourage illigal immigration by laying minefields.
Or here's a better idea: Invade Mexico, and claim it as US territory. All Mexicans will then be US citizens.

Ah, I will never understand you Ocalhoun. What happens if a HORSE walked over the mine fields?
Here in Australia we put them on some island, then try to get them back to their countries. (Though it takes a while.)
as an australian, i feel we should cater for anyone who is unable to return to thier own country for whatever reason, and anyone who wishes to come to our country because they want to live a better life, should have the oppurtunity to do so. We should not stop them coming, but make allwances and even education programs in certain areas for tem.
This is also the main point i disagree with Bush and every other politician on. somethind needs to be done about the border and illegal aliens. i wish people would stop calling them immigrants. immigrants apply legally and assimilate. these illegals from mexico (the problem at hand) dont want to assimilate or do it legally, they want to enjoy the better life in america without paying the price.
I think (and I may be wrong) that Bush means that when they speak English, get a job, and pay taxes, they become American citizens. Although his words weren't the greatest, I see what he meant. At any rate, it's not Bush contradicting himself, it's Bush contradicting the law.
It's not just the USA that has a problem with illegals. In the UK it has been estimated we could have between 350,000 and 1million illegals living off the black economy. Because of the very nature of illegal immigration, it's impossible to know for sure just how many there are. The government, obviously, holds to the lower end of the figures.
Bush seems to be doing that a lot.
Have you heard on the news...Laura Bush says "Yes, I think that the Mexicans should be able to sing our national anthem in Spanish!" and Bush says "NO, the anthem will NOT be sung in Spanish!"
I do think that he should have reworded that. I think, personally, that it's screwed up we can invade Iraq and be over there for what....6 years now? (*COUGH*Oil*COUGH*) and help them and put ourselves in billions of dollers of debt yet we CAN'T HELP OUR NEIGHBORING COUNTRY.
