Why stop there? With a little alteration you can turn a radar detector into a radar jammer. (no promises about the legality of that)

well if you have the money to spend you could always look into getting one of the Valentine 1's http://www.valentine1.com/. They have one of the most advanced and best radar detectors made. It's $400 USD, but they used, don't know if they still do, guaruntee that you don't get a speeding ticket, and if you do they pay it. You might have to check on it. Otherwise Escort makes really nice radar detectors, better than some crappy cobra or something like that. The Passport 8500 has been reviewed by a retired cop at http://www.radarbusters.com/products/escort/8500.asp but it's upwards of $300 USD, but you may be able to find it cheaper. I think my friend found it for around $200 USD.
