Capturing multiple USB cams to an AVI or MPEG file.

Texas Al
I'd like to have a whole bunch of USB webcams running at the same time, and capturing input from each cam to its own file. Yes, I have plenty of drive space. Yes, I can upgrade to get enough memory and USB ports to do the job (ultimate target-- 16 cams!!!).

The question is, what kind of software would you recommend for doing this? I don't care if it's a single program that can capture multiple video streams or a program that can be launched multiple times in separate windows.

Thanks!

With a lot of work, you can get aviSynth to do this in realtime.

http://www.avisynth.org/

But, I would suggest doing this separately, and then layout the parts in post-production.

Thanks for the link! This might work (if it listens to USB and can do compression).

Can't do much in "post production" all sixteen events are happening at the same time (it's a lab experiment, running in replicate).
