Does anyone know of a way that i can run dos within Windows XP. I want to run some dos applications but have windows xp.
Is there any type of program that will perhaps emulate dos on to of windows xp. if anyone knows of something... thank you in advance.
You can use DOSBox. It is little bit slow, but if you want to run an old app...
Or some general purpose emulation software like
QEmu with a freedos disk image
or other PC virtualisation software like vmware, VirtualPC....
It depends on your target application
yeah dosbox is pretty cool...
Supposedly windows xp will emulate dos for you. If you have problems, right click the executable file, and use the menus to tell it to run im MSDOS compatability mode.
Every windows since NT has had virtual dos machines running inside it.

But there is problem some incompliant applications comunicate directly with HW and winXP shoot down these apps
In my point of view dosbox is better thn dos inside Xp. XPdos runs dost aplications slower than dosbox, and sometimes doesnt find mouse and requlary sound comes from computer nor΄t lik in dosbox all "beep"s come from speakers and no problem to turn them of.
Dosbox is well and cool!!!
DOS IS DEAD YOUR TOO OLD LET GO NOBODY LISTEN TO TECHNO !!!!
YES DOS IS DEAD, but however the only real tasks i can think for using it is for virus solving or other date related probs.
just get a bootdisk with a tonne of features.
