I Hate Football

Harmony
I hate football and just cant understand why grown men leave there wife and kids on a saturday afternoon just to see other men kick a ball around how sick is that.
Knappers
I agree with you Harmomy... What is the point in kicking a ball around a field then hugging each other when they get it in the goal.

I think it is just an excuse for grown men to hug eachother.
Jurado
What do you like then??? I don't understand why people sit down and fish for many hours.
Everyone has its own passions some like fishing some like football some like women or other things.
Blaster
I love football.

I hate soccer. I can't stand it. Ahh i can kick a ball yea!!!!! Good for you....I can too. There needs to be more to the game then kicking a ball on a field.
shun
well, you make me remembering a guy saying football is just non-sense 'coz you're just watching a bunch of men kicking a ball around with the redult of 0-0. I mean, football is about passion, you enjoy the process, not so much the result. If the game is good, why would I care if it's 0-0? I can only say that I really like football. and that everyone has their own habits. someone can sit in front of the computer for months, some can sit in fornt of the TV for hours, so what's wrong with someone watching football for just 90mins?
Blaster
Its just a bunch of people kicking a ball around. There is no like major hitting or anything like hockey or american football. There just isn't a concept to it. Two teams of people kicking a ball around. It is sort of like basketball. It seems like there is not really any talent needed. Just something anyone can do. I played it for a year... it sucked. Watching it is even more bouring. Dont' even get me started on this topic. I so hate soccer football what ever the hell you call it.
ashok
every sport is refreshing in it's own style.. some people like the style, some dont get used to it.. bcoz of that u just cant say that the game sucks. besides, football is really a nice game.

Thats the point, YOU hate it. Thats about it.

But you need not talk about how terrible it is.

You'd do better to mention that it is terrible for you to watch. Dont generalise it.
There are millions of admirers of football. But only a handful(i.e Americans) bother about American Football.
In american football, in case you are not aware, the coach or manager or whatever must keep the players not only physically fit but also heavy like a overgrown gorilla.

The players are ordered to increase their weight to atleast 125Kgs for playing.

And recently a player(in some uni or something ) died after a game by collapsing in the locker room due to heart failure He weighed 145 kgs. The other players got instantly nervous ,

It is like that. Football may be boring to you, but atleast doesnt carry so much dangers which are obvious.

They do have accidents and fractures once in a while, but they dont play using a Knight's armor for protection

i don't think it's the game itself. it's rather being around other men, behaving strangly, yelling together... some primal instinct perhaps.

Don't get me wrong i love watching men on the field but football seems to tame for me I would rather watch rugby if I had to choose. Men in shorts in mud.....gets you thinking.

I don't hate football, but I do dislike it. I think it stems from the fact that in my opinion footballers get paid too much. The most-payed footballers salary is I believe to be around £110,000 per week. Now ask yourself who needs all this money ? All they do is kick a football around the pitch for 90 minutes. I think doctors, police, etc, should get paid this amount. The average doctor is now said to earn around £80,000 here in the UK, whilst a footballer gets £110,000 per week

Correction! You mean sunday! They dont play football on saturday.... And i dont really like watching football, i rather get some of my friends and actually play it!

I don't like soccer much either, unless if it is an important game like tomorrow's Arsenal Vs Barcelona. where I will probably watch a total of 10 minutes! The thing with soccer is that for there isn't enough ACTION. Its guys passing the ball around and not scoring as much as you would want them to. And at the end of that you have a DRAW. No body wins!!! If i am going to invest 90 minutes of my life into a game there better be a lot of action and a winner at the end. That's why i love american football. there you are guaranteed some proper action and some one will emerge the winner.

The thing about sports is that you basically simplify any game to a point where it seems rediculous and pointless:
Basketball: Guys trying to get a ball through a net - Wait, that's netball!!!
Golf: Guys hitting a little white ball with over-priced metal sticks, trying to get the little white ball into little holes you can't even see!!
Formula One: a bunch of idiots driving around in circles! Why would they do that? Especially with the price of fuel nowadays?
Tennis: Guys hitting a green, bouncy ball back and forth trying to make the other guy not hit it back!
MotoCross: Like formula one except you use motorcycles there is more time spent in the air.
MotoGP: Like motocross with less time spent the air!

See? Sports are about passion and believing in your team and its players. It's silly to simplify sports because you are closing your mind to something special.

Personally i think F1 and American Football are the best sports ever!!

each sport has this argument, and football isnt just kicking a ball, its do do with sharpness agility, quick thinking, skill and maybe a bit of luck. It keeps the nation happy so there is a point in it. My arguement against football though is why do they get paid so much. THis money could go towards funding the NHS ect ect. But the arguement against that is the chairman gives them wages and its his money so he can do what he wants
lyndonray
its not just soccer players who get paid a bundle. you have guys turning pro in the states whether it be basketball or football and they get $15 Mil. contracts. Look at guys like LaBron James he went straight from high school to a multi-million dollar crib in Cleveland!! They are worth that much given how much money they make for their teams and leagues! yeah it sucks the money couldn't be put towards helping NHS but that's just how it is. This is capitalism my friend!

*grin* i see you get the point. rugby is even more extreme then football, didn't it evolve from football? well whatever, anything that makes us act like little children makes us happy. fottball, toy railways, fred flintstone... .
Whong
I don't really like football, but I don't hate it! In my opinion its a fun sport but wouldn't go out on anyday to watch people play it, unless it is my friend then I might go!

I like playing tennis and practising Tae Kwon Do! Idea Exclamation
kazza
I enjoy watching rugby but I don't like the idea of men just muscling their way to the try line. Not really exciting stuff.

Plus whoever said that soccer (football...wateva u call it) is just kickiing a ball around, you're wrong. Obviously someone who said that didn't have enough passion to explore the cool tricks you can do with the ball and the mind to think that u can stragetise to win - and that's usually the same with other sports. Controlling the ball with ur feet is a hard thing to do.
Fuhrer
2 manships play. but just one can win.
is it just nonsens
Telnven
I dislike football mainly because people, get so passionate about it, and take it so seriously. I can't see many skills on display and come on be fair, it is the same repetitive proccess of kicking a ball around a field. My friend once said, "Why do some guys like watching some other guys, kicking a ball and getting hot and sweaty?"

Its not really a free sport, your restricted to a pitch constantly repeating skills, day in day out again and again. You rarely encounter any problems you are not used to. To be frank it a total bore.
Phil
I never saw much in soccer, living here in the states, until my kids started playing. Then I began to see the stratagy and techniques involved. Not to mention the athletics.
I always played American Football, so I can really get into watching that now.
I guess what is boils down to is Sports = Entertainment, and having some sub-conscience involvment/attachment to to the players on the field.
Darren
I agree sports=entertainment. To each is own. There are many positive point to most sports and some negative. Whatever.

Hey, if any of you get a chance to see some Canadian football I would urge you to check it out. It's sort of like the American game but with some unique differences.

I don't understand that. Football is just a bunch of huge guys jumping on each other. ITS A FIELD, NOT A MOSHPIT!. I love soccer. It is full of strategy, nad there is so much to be done. The ball can get any effect, fly left, kicked right, the opposite, nothing a FOOTBALL could do. Most soccer players have education; it is a sport for the wise ones--no violence is tolerated. We soccer fans are proud and stick to it. You don't love soccer for one summer; its a lifestyle.
sketteksalfa
what football are you referring to? whatever it is i love football (fifa) and american football. at first im not that interested with soccer but when i got to know the best players and read some histories, and learn about the crazy fans i started to like it then.. yebaaaa!! go brazil!
