It takes up to 2 hours to record a DVD disk (data only, no DVD files encoding), It used to be allright. the tech. spec. speed is up to 8, so it should burn a DVD in 20-25 minutes.
Any thoughts.
thanks
I burn a DVD completely in about 12 mins usually.
Taking over 2 Hours is something I haven't faced yet
write spec of your computer (HDD,RAM, OS ...).
With sped at 8x it should take about 8 min. Have you installed mainboard drivers (especialy important on Via chipset)
it depends if your using high quality discs... a lot of DVDs are 4x or less, so your burner would knock down the speed.
your problem is the mode of the IDE connection. (your writer is using SmartBurn, so it burns DVD up to speed you select)
Windows detected bad mode and they are using PIO-4
sou you must select some UDMA mode (but it will not work) or you must upgrade your DVD-RW firmware.
(Your task is to persuade Windows to detect DVD writer with UDMA-2 or better)
I had a same problem and firmware upgrade solved that.
Thanks Jaybe, I will try and update the firmware, what is odd, is that it worked perfectly fine untill recent, when speed just dropped down. I think i might have installed something what knocked the driver down.
