Photo Gallery with Thumbnails

Hi,

I'm in need of a photo gallery with thumbnail generation from hi-res images (150-300dpi JPG). Ideally I'd like to be able to upload the hi-res image and be able to sort them by category or folder and then when a visitor views a category/folder have the web-res thumbnails automatically generated (maybe even with image details like res, width/height, but this is not required). A web control panel to upload would be nice but not required, as long as I can specify the folder I FTP the images to.. Also when you click the thumbnail I want the visitor to be able to download/save the hi-res JPG, or have a download hi-res link available.

Is there any free or commercial php, flash, cgi script out there that can do anything like this? Or am I dreaming and need to have someone make this?

If you look in the Fantastico in your CPanel, you will see a few decent Gallery programs that should suit your needs.

If you need something specific that they do not offer, I may be able to help, but please, try those and see if they work for you first.

Flickr.com probably has everything you could want. You can build sets, set different levels of privacy, and much more.
They have a limited free account which is quite generous and pretty nice. but for about $25 US you can get a pro account for a year which is no doubt more than anyone needs.

I like Simpleviewer; it's a nice script for smaller galleries, and is pretty customizeable. I'm not sure if you can use header images or not, but it's reall the colors you can customize. Still looks good, though. And no need to resize anything for the thumbnails.
