Hey! i learn't php from the book called as "PHP and MySQL" by Larry Ullman and was very good for me.. however book from SAMS publication is too good.
However using the net or just googling around may hlp a lot. lot's of web e-books can be found.

I learned from tutorials and from "PHP in a Nutshell" O'Rielly Books. It is a good book for learning and for reference.
