An introduction from California - Looking for some feedback

rhathar
Hey there, everyone.
My name is Tyler Johnson, I'm an EMT and student in California. I've been messing with websites for years now, and after paying on and off for websites, or using the basic hosting that comes with ISPs, I ran into this site.

So far, I've heard good things where ever I look. Any tips/hints/advice/reviews from you guys personally, from those of you that use this site a lot?

It looks good, and if all is as it says, I'd love to start a site here (for the PHP/MySQL support, mainly).

Another question, one I didn't see answered in the TOS. I realize that hosting downloads, images or other large file / high traffic sites are prohibited, but would that extend to someone hosting a webcomic?

A friend of mine is looking to start up a small comic online, and isn't interesting in doing it for profit (mainly because of the amount of work involved), but webcomics definately take up a lot of traffic. Would this be allowable?

This site is a really good reliable site. For your comic thing how many comics do you plan to have? Also how many people do you plan on visting the site?

(also a little hint for you, wait for a mod or bondings to answer this. Wink )

Heh, well, just one comic. But how many strips will it be? Only time would tell.
The same really goes for the number of people who visit.

It's not MY comic, I'd just be the webmaster for it. But I think it's a pretty good comic, so it could catch on.

Nice that you've heard lot's of great on the site. It's the way things are Smile

Hints and tips are quite simple, get in to the forum, and you'll soon find yourself
posting a bit here and there. That's all that's requiered, as you know, thus you
don't have to pay and you can change ISP as you like Cool

About the comic's I'd sign Blasters suggestion, to wait for a mod to answer,
but I think it will be the same as in the TOS, you got your bandwith per month...

Hope you get it together, would be nice to have a peak.
Welcome!

I would post something in the Web Hosting Support forum and ask weather it is ok or not.

Dude, this place is awesome. I love the forums. It's uber easy to use, and people here arn't rude at all.

I love how everyone here accepts everyone elses opinion. It's cool like that. Like, my avitar. I havn't gotten my head bitten off ONCE! for havig that up. People just say "Dude, that's totally tubuler." or "I don't really like it."

Thanks everyone for your replies and help Smile One thing though, is how long does it usually take to get approved for a website? It's been a few days now.

I'm not complaining, I mean, even if I don't get one it hasn't been a waste of time. Just curious as to the normal waiting periods. 7 days? Two weeks? A month? Year 3? Wink

It can take up to 2 weeks
