Anyone registering IDNs?

domainstosell
I have a small IDN portfolio (about 30 domains, Russian and Japanese). I see a huge potential for IDNs with the release of IE7, and I was wondering if anyone else here is registering IDNs.

I also am open to selling any of my current IDNs, just let me know if you are interested. My email is domainstosell@hotmail.com.

Thanks

Seems like you are probably on to something. This is a topic that I (until this post) was completely unaware of. It would seem inevitable that eventually there would be a need of these domain names because of the finite limit on currenly implimented naming schemes..

By far, US citizens or even English speaking users are not the only useres of the internet. It would seem that there would have to be something to cater to these net-users. Seems like the system has been around for sometime, just hasn't been widly implimented (or has and I dont speak/write the language that it is in).

It would seem to be potentially lucritive to purchase possible "hot" domains for later ransom Smile Might have to check into it... thanks for the tip-off.

Well no doubt IDN domains have a lot of market ahead of them. With .com at saturation point I think people are now looking for other extensions and IDNs. Well I have got some IDNs right now. But i can't understand how can IE7 boost the IDNs ?

once again: can anyone tell us what are IDN domains and why are they soooo attractive?

Quote:
IDN means International domain names. An internationalized domain name (IDN) is an Internet domain name that (potentially) contains non-ASCII characters.

Internationalized Domain Name
Also known as multilingual domain names. It gives the possibility to use more characters in domains names, besides letters and numbers, and specifically characters available in other alphabets, like accents.
A standard is being developed by the IETF.

thanks. I don't find it too useful. while it's a cool feature, it will complicate information exchange between people from different cultures.
but.. we'll see

There is no doubt that there is potential for confusion between cultures because of communication barriers, but on the flip side individual who where never able or desired to learn english/american (etc) culture may find it easier to communicate with people inside their native cultuer as a result of having a native naming scheme for domains and sites.

Like manumiglani pointed out, the .com-s are saturated and e-realistate is dwindling thin; with increasingly limited availability it would seem inevitable that another naming system would have to be devised and it would seem that this would be an inuitive solution for all. There is something funny about seeing .jp .cn etc. domains on sites that specifically appeal to chinese or japanese people instead of it being their native characters for the such.

It would seem safe to bet that there will always be enlish domains for foreign sites that have some international appeal but for someting localized it would seem IDN a suitable solution.
