SSH tunnel to MySQL database

Hello folks!
I'm taking care of two websites of a friend. (on two seperate hosting accounts) One of the websites needs data from the other website's MySQL server. But my hoster disabled this possibility. He says it's possible by SSH tunneling.

I only know SSH from the possibility to use the server's command line. How does this SSH tunneling work for MySQL?

He means connecting to the other's server SSH(Secure Shell) so you can execute some mysql queries in the other server and get the response.
