Thanks

| Viasat extends Ice Hockey World Championship rights
Viasat Broadcasting has tightened its hold on the live broadcasting rights to the IIHF World Championships until 2011. The ice hockey world championships will be carried on Viasat’s free and pay channels in Scandinavia and the Baltic region including TV3 and TV3+. Viasat already held the rights to the championship until 2007. The new contract also includes new media distribution platforms; the Internet, IPRV and mobile telephony including UMTS and DVB-H. |
Well, this championship didnt start well for us. Aciminsk what have you done to us?
Slovakia 1 : 2 Belorussia, what a shame
. But we had so much bad luck. I hope we will beat Kazakhstan today at least, else we are going home. Anyway this year is odd, olympic season and hard season in NHL too. Most of our best players from NHL didnt come
.

Com on. Give Belarusian fans a chance for a small celebration. You still have Kazakhstan, and you guys do not look like you are afraid of Russia
Well, celebration did not last long. Belarus lost to Russia. 2:3. Nevertheless, the game was worth watching.

Different group. Not translated over here. And what's the problem with the ice?
Ok aciminsk, I have a plan. You will beat Sweden today and then Switzerland and Ukraine and finish 1st or 2nd in the F group
. And we will beat them all too and finish 3rd. Then we will both make it to the final, where we will revenge our loss to you. Silver medals arent bad at all, so what do you think?

Well, nice scenario. And we already have had a pleasure of beating Swedes before. So I almost agree. Except for the last part. Let's keep some intrigue, let's final to diside the winner.

Ok, after about 4min of the second period a big board of ice just come loose and they had to stop the match for some time...
The thing is that they have had these problems before with exactly the same portable rink for about a year ago, and for some weeks ago when they tested the rink the problems were the same...
I think it's a bit awkward that they haven't fixed this yet.

Yea, already heard it on TV. Right now Belarus vs Sweden. 0:4 in the second period. Disaster.
Yea Sweden has a good hockey team. I'm Canadian so you know who I cheer for. The thing that impresses me most about these tournements is that each year the other countries keep getting better and better. It really is a good thing to see. Was a shame to see the Latvian crowd get so out of hand there. I know it ended up 11-0 for Canada. But the team shot themselves in the foot with all the penalties they took. 10 power play goals.

Looks as if you are following the plan (Beat Swedes 5:2). We have stumbled over Sweden (1:4), managed to improve with Ukraine (9:1).
P.S. Thumbs up to Czechs for beating Canada (6:4)

Yea that was a tough loss. But if we were gonna lose this is definitely the time to do it. We got Finland to play next. Then after that the elimination rounds. So hopefully we (Canada) will bounce back.

Yea, judging from a couple of late WCs riding fast in qualifications does not mean getting to the final.

good...
It's a pity though, that so many nhl-players didn't join the team.
Now it looks like we're getting second in the group and going up against Finland in the quarter...
If:
...Switzerland will lose points against White russia today
...Switzerland will beat White russia but with less then four goals
...Switzerland will beat White russia with exactly four goals but will have less total goals then Sweden.
If white russia on the other hand win, we(sweden) will be second in the group
)
But of course, the only thing that's for sure right now is that we won't meet Canada in the quarter.
Maby the USA will get third in there group, but then they have to beat the Czech(not likely..)
Well... for now I just say Go Sweden!
It happend. Belarus vs Finland 0:3. Had been expected. Well, may be next time...
Sweden - Canada, What a game!!! This is not good for the heart...
At the end of the second period just before Crosby reduce 5 - 3 I almost believed it was over, then Hannula gave Crosby a big one
That stupid a**, so darn unnecessary.
It gave Canada a new air injection AND powerplay in 3min in the third period which Patrice Bergeron used very well... score: 5 - 4
The rest of the match was a game against the clock, with a frenetic tempo and with a minute and thirty seconds left canada takes out the goalkeeper but they never were realy close to an equalize.
Now it's only the final left...

Canada seemed resurrected from ashes. Swedes belived into their win too soon. Five minutes more and who knows, quite possible the final might look different...
The fest is over. Congrats to Swedes. Earning two titles speaks for itself. Thoough my thympacy in the final was with Czechs as there were no Belarus and Russia. Besides the medals, there were other trophies. Details at http://www.eurohockey.net/news/story.html?id=20060521231349worldchampionshipawards

gheh I had to figure out first if you were talking about Ice hockey or field hockey...
In our country hockey mainly corresponds with field hockey

Holy F*** that Canadian guys - 65 points rofl rofl rofl lmao lolller blades.
Now that the NHL changed their rules and are playing true hockey again--no clutch and grab, we fans finally get a chance to see real hockey. I don't miss the days of clutch and grab. This is the main reason I loved the Olympics and World Cup Hockey.
Well the NHL finally got it figured out. It's too bad that Carolina and Edmonton are 2 of the 3 smallest market sizes for TV ratings, but at this point who cares. At least I have OLN and that's all that matters.
Great World Championship series. Go Finland!!!
