Favorite Athlete
Muhammad Ali, without a doubt. My reasons are many:
1) He became a hero to people of African descent throughout the world, but was particularly important to people of color in the United States during a volatile time in our history.
2) He climbed to the top of his game not once, but 3 times!
3) He was willing to go to jail for his beliefs, even if those beliefs may have been unpopular at the time.
4) After a great deal of personal struggle with his own demons, he went on to become an ambassador of understanding to the world. His life has come to mean so much more than even he could have foreseen.
