Kennedy seeks drug abuse help

It seems those wacky Kennedy's are in the spotlight once again. If they aren't messing around with the government, drinking to excess, raping women or being shot at...they are now drug dependant. Go figure.

Reuters wrote:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - One day after he crashed his car near the U.S. Capitol, Rep. Patrick Kennedy, son of Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Edward Kennedy, said on Friday he would seek treatment for a long-term drug abuse problem.

"This afternoon I am traveling to Minnesota to seek treatment at the Mayo Clinic to insure that I can continue on my road to recovery," Kennedy, a Rhode Island Democrat, told reporters.

The person I feel the most sorry for is old joe Kennedy. The poor old man is spinning in his grave so fast he's about to pop out in Ukraine or something! The old man spent his whole life building the kennedy name only for his youngest son along with his offspring to shred to pieces. Now when you think of Kennedy you think of crazy alcoholic, drug-addicted, in-serious-need-of-a-cause-liberals! But hey they are rich so I am not crying for them at night

Joe Kennedy was no saint,...but one must admire his passion for his kids.

Here’s the sentence following what you quoted, Max.

Kennedy said he was a patient last winter at the clinic, receiving care for an addiction to prescription pain medicine.

Have y’all ever noticed how people addicted to “prescription” medicine (you know, the drugs that the government advocates, licenses, and gets revenue from) get put into hospitals, while people addicted to medicines/drugs from which the government doesn’t collect any booty, get put into jails?

As I just wrote on another topic: Follow the money trail! And you shall then find there’s more to the situation than meets the eye. Smile

I am with you on this one Princess....if you have money, you get "special" treatment.....the rest just go to jail.
The Philosopher Princess
Yeah, Max! And it’s not so much the money in and of itself, as it is the power that it buys. If (and that’s a huge hypothetical) we lived in a world of no corruption where people couldn’t use monopoly power to thwart others, then having people with lots of money would not be a problem. Am I explaining this well? Do you agree with that?
Vrythramax
m'lady...I agree wholeheartedly. Our current system is geared to those who have, and the "have nots" can just suck canal water.

Sad, but true. Sad
