The best bike
Ducati lovers help ducati win
This is too vague because it depends a lot on the model and type, or if it is a racing bike, the class.
You are obviously a ducati fan and thats good because Ducati is the "Coolest" of all the brands you listed, but not necesarilly the "best".

Harley Davidson?
Are you serious?
Get that thing outta here!
Harley's are nice if you want to eat doughnuts and drink coffee while you ride your couch. But if you want to do real riding, there's nothing like a big strapping V-Twin Suzuki.
Sorry, duc fans, but until the price and maint price comes down, I'll not be putting my money into 'cool'. I'll put the extra money into 'functional' upgrades. Never been one for name brands, unless the name brand is a good functioning name brand.

Not going to vote. I have a Ducati S4R (and S3nd K3ys is right, they're too expensive - haven't had a lot of maintenance for the two years I've owned that one, though, and I still love it
), have a Yamaha, very happy with both, but I'm in love with lots of Suzuki models too... from the cheapest to the most expensive. If the SV650 had existed when I got my license, I'd have ridden that one, and the SV1000 is still cool
. And then there's the Hayabusa, and the larger Bandits, and the GSX-R's, and and and...
Ducati's faired designs I'm not a fan of. Honda makes a few models I quite like (like the high-cc CBR's), but in general, they don't stand out to me...
And Harley Davidson? Bleh. Just bleh.

Yeah i voted for Ducati , and Harley Davidson don't belong here .
I heard ducati's need a new clutch at 32000 kms?!?
How do you tell if there's no oil left in your ducati? There's none on the ground under it
No hard feelings for ducati lovers, they are very cool bikes.
Where is MV (augusta, surely they're up there, or haven't enough people heard of them?) Or Aprilia?
I owned a BMW Funduro, which was a great bike, but a bit too easy going, traded up to a Honda VFR800 for more power & handling!
Go the Honda's!

I agree, this poll is too vague.
I like Honda's, in particular, the Shadow. I can't stand Harleys. Though there are some serious bikers who own harleys, but for the most part, the people I see who own harley's just want to look cool.

That whole Harley thing makes me laugh. Here's to hoping you'll laugh too!
How to make your Jap bike sound like a Harley
Step 1: Set all bolts to 1/4 torque settings. Set engine mounting bolts
to 1/8 torque. They will fall out periodically. This is normal. You will
experience a lot of vibration.
Step 2: Loosen the oil drain bolt and over rev your engine to blow the
head gasket. Oil may spray/leak everywhere. Ignore this and fill it up
again every 5 miles.
Step 3: Take off the muffler. Loosen the headers, and change your
carbeuratuer settings. The bike will sound like it is taking a gigantic
fart. This is part of the process.
Step 4: Cosmetics...polish your frame and swingarm. Put flames on your
farings. Add a skinnier front tire and a rear tire at least 3x wider.
Place fringe (leather, not the cheap plastic stuff) in place of bar
ends. Optionally add leather saddlebags. This works well as a foot rest
for whoever is riding bitch.
Step 5: For that authentic harley look, add a harley badge, and break
some parts off and duct tape them back on. It is ok if they are hanging
by a few threads of metal.
Step 6: Tune that engine! Tighten the intake valves. This lets more fuel
in. Loosen the exhaust valves. This produces a loud clacking noise, and
gives the authentic harley pop by not letting all the exhaust out. Open
up that gearbox and remove the gear synchros. Your transmission will
clunk wildly, and may miss every other shift. Don't worry...you wanted a
harley right?
Step 6B: An alternative to the gearbox mod is to simply stay in first
gear. It also makes your engine louder.
Step 7: What harley would be complete without a rider? Arai? What are
you thinking? Trade it in for a chrome nazi helmet. Dainese? Who do you
think you are? Throw those out and get some chaps and a leather vest.
Colors are not an option. ****? No way. Throw on your work boots and
gloves. Be sure to drink lots of beer, and don't shave. ever. This may
be accompanied by loud belching and farting, and occasionally flies.
How to ride your newly created machine:
1. Ride with the choke on always. This gives it enough gas to stay
alive. Never let the tach dip below 3 grand RPM...this decreases the
amount of oil spraying from the head gasket, and the engine will not be
as loud.
2. Do NOT lean the bike. If you must lean it to turn, you are going too
fast. Try bending your forks forward to add more rake/trail.
3. Never go into a tuck. Use your frame sliders as pegs...you don't need
to shift, and the rearsets are too far back.
4. Rev at cars as you pass them...this will also douse them with oil!
5. NEVER EVER wave to other bikers. They are all jackasses with import
bikes that they think are fast. You ride a harley now!
5B. (note: harley parts are made in japan, as is your bike, so don't
worry...its still all american...after all, it says harley)
I prefer Yamaha R1 but it's not in the poll list. It's work of art!! Don't you think

is the r1 a copy of the cbr 1000 in the exhaust department (meaning does the exhaust come out under the seat?)
Well as a feeble female
i prefer the susuki SV650s i find its light and
low enough for my short legs to handle.
Fast enough too where in this country can you
go as fast as the speedo goes up to without losing
your licence.

The Ducati is my choice- best looking bikes, great sound and made in Italy
Kawsaki is oddly misplaced from that list.
So, I'll have to cast an unofficial vote, and say Kawasaki. I've always been a fan of the Ninjas, and even though I've only ever owned one (1999 Kawasaki EX 250 Ninja), I know enough to say that they're one of the best manufacturers around.
I hope to get myself an 03-04 ZX-6RR this year when I move to Calgary. And after that, either a ZX-10 or ZX-12.

I don't whether the under seat exhaust is a copy from cbr. I don't know which bike came out with this design first. What I know is this is the common feature for most of the bike nowadays. it claims to improve the stability of the bike.

Um...
No.
Perhaps it is in your (albeit under-informed) opinion.
What about yamaha? I like yamaha's bikes. Honda makes a decent bike though. So my vote will go to honda. I also like harleys. Its hard to pick though. So i just won't vote. If it has a motor i would most likely drive it

I prefer Ducatti... It is cool.
thanks for the pix of the Yammi... I find that Yamaha is often over looked but they seem to have nice stuff. I only have two of their ATV, Griz 660s... matching his and hers LOL
real nice and so far... real reliable ... 3 yrs?

I agree. I also want to register an unofficial vote for Kawasaki. When it comes to raw straightline power there are none better.
What about Triumph .... they make some great bikes.
But I voted Ducati..... Well I can dream can't I?..LOL
