Machinists and education

When I was in school, (early eighty's), there were several options for metal-working classes.

It seems now-a-days there are very few. That trend seems to be showing up in the work force as well. It is becomming harder and harder to find people even vaguely educated in metal working.

Is there any metalworking classes available at your school? If so, are you in it?
