Okay, I decided to tinker around with creating a Linux server for my home LAN. I'm using SUSE Linux 10, which I really like, and I've got the web server part working, for static pages at least. I'm not sure how to get any advanced stuff, like PHP or MySQL yet. However, the main thing I want to get working is a user server of some sort. So that I can go to any computer in the house, login to a user, and get the same desktop/settings/documents. All my computers are Windows XP Home, except for the server. Is what I'm trying to do even possible? Any help or comments would be appreciated.
SUSE Linux-Home LAN Server
Shouldn't be problem using Samba. Samba includes Linux into Windows Netbios-Environment. Once set up, you can host the windows-user profiles on the samba-server. At least I'm not quite sure if this will work for WinXP Home, for XP Professional it does.
