Dolphins dead - US military sonar?

This news of hundreds of dolphins dying sadens me. I suspect that US military sonar was the cause as these dolphins did not die of poisoning.

It has already been proven that military sonar does kill cetaceans because it blasts out their ear drums which is how they communicate and hunt for food.

Does anyone else know more about this story?

I hadn't heard about it till I read your post then the story. I can't really beieve sonar was the cause, the sound levels used by the military in those situation is ELF or extremely low frequency so as to not warn others they are there. Whales have been known to go washing themselves onto beaches for as far back as anyone can remember.

The question isn't 'Does military Sonar kill cetaceans?' That has already been proven.

I like how it's the US military's sonar... not just sonar, many research ships use sonar too...
