xp and microsoft sql server 2005 enterprise edition

I am currently doing my java software course. I wanted to try out the jdbc and other sample programs. My pc config is:
windows xp version 2002 Service Pack 2
Computer : pentium 4, 1.7 Ghz, 248 ram.

I tried to install microsoft sql server 2005 enterprise edition but it shows me config error.
Later i tried sql 2000
this too shows incompatibility.
Please advice me how do i install sql server on my computer??

which version would be compatible.
Help me !!!
try MS SQL server 2005 Express Edition. It works great on my pc.
I think to install Enterprise kinda editions one has to have server OS like Windows 2003 server.
Yeh, he is right MS SQL server entrprise addition is a bit to picky. Express should work just fine. bot don't forget you will need a whole bunch of add ons (avaliable free on microsoft site) to run it.
Good Luck!
MS SQL 2005 need "Microsoft Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack (SP) 4 or later; Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition, Enterprise Edition, or Datacenter Edition with SP 1 or later; Windows Small Business Server 2003 with SP 1 or later "
So you can not install on Windows XP.
Not only Windows 2000 server or windows 2003 server that you must have, but it require Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 or later and Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 5.0 or later, and ASP.NET 2.0 or later for reporting service

Oh i forgot somthing ..... Memory you should have at lease 512 MB Confused
