Hey,
the CELL processor from IBM has nine cores.It is clocked at 4GhZ
Can you beat that! Soonly we will say good bye to dual core processors,when there are nine core processors round the corner.
Too bad they will be extremely expensive for the average consumer.
Exactly, stuff keeps getting better, but also more expensive...
Yea tech is great but maybe they should slow down? bah idk
i havent upgraded in 3 years now hehe maybe can hold out another two or so and get one of them yum yum!

That's one of the best things about new technology that comes out: Sure, it's expensive, but it pushes the price of everything else down (which is good for us "average" people
)
You got a point there Daniel.
Now we can afford faster systems and processors(not as fast as this) for a lower price
This will be a general benefit to the customers

yea, agreed, dual core proccessors are already costly for the average consumer... nine core proccessors will just be preposterous and not only uncoventional, unneccesary, but also a waste of money.
Cell processors are not x86, they're a derivitive of Power PC, thus you won't be able to use them for Windows etc. (not that that's a bad thing
) buy IBM says you can run Linux on 'em.
Also the cell has 8 SPEs, with one disabled for redundancy, they are basically very small specialized cores, the 9th/8th "core" is a modified Power PC core that controls all of the little SPEs.
