Heaven, Hell, and Middle Earth?

Mizzro
Im sorry if this hits a strong point for someones religion, but this is something I have thought about over and over again...

In the 'early days' of people like Jesus and Moses, They were trying to inform us to be good people, not to sin, that there would be heaver (happiness) and hell (torture).

We have changed this into our own thoughts, That there is an afterlife where we live in Heaven and be happy for ever, or live in hell and burn to death for eternity. (Or something along those lines)

But does anyone ever think, That they were implying that our actions would result in Heaven or Hell being in our lives? Maybe as we live today, this is our Purgitory for our sins. That if we are good people, This IS our heaven. But if we are bad people, it is our hell.

If you do something horrible, your dealing with it for the rest of your life. Maybe not jail, or something like that, But the guilt. Vis-Versa for if you do something great.

I dont really know how to explain this any more than I arleady have (which wasnt very well) But if you can understand where I am coming from.. Then alright.

When I stole someone's bath toy at a school camp, I didn't have much guilt... I get what you mean there, but I think hell would be worse than guilt.

I do understand what you're trying to say, but I don't agree. (personal opinion here) Some people go out and commit huge crimes with no guilt whatsoever. Some people commit crimes thinking that noone will ever find out. They enjoy it, or gains something from it that brings them pleasure. Following your theory, if there is no guilt or remorse for these bad actions, then how can that person be in hell while on this earth?
Juparis
Yes, and then there are the millions of (mostly-) innocent people who are persecuted, tortured, killed, molested/raped, and are diagnosed with terminal diseases.

It's an interesting theory, but it sounds like Karma to me. Do good, and good will be done unto you? Unfortunately, life just isn't that fair..

I don't quite understand how this life could be a paradise for one and a hell for another simply by virtue of a conscience. It has been my extreme displeasure to have met more than a few people who had no conceivable conscience whatsoever...are they getting a free ride? Is that the way to beat the system? With what has been described here I am doomed to hell for something I feel I did wrong and others simply go free becuase they don't recognize, or feel, whatever they did was wrong?

I'm sorry, but this just doesn't make any sense to me. Accepting God into your life, and trying with an honest heart to do the right thing seems (to me anyway) the only way to ensure peace for your immortal soul.

BTW....what does the "Middle Earth" mentioned in the title (and never again) have to do with anything???
Mizzro
Okay... Maybed I left something out...

Our crimes on earth are also punished on earth... If you comit a crime, chances are you are going to be punished for it (fines, jail, etc)

You seem to think that karma precludes Heaven and Hell, which it doesn't. As a matter of fact in the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna makes the single most coherent description of what it is for people to sell their soul to the devil that is to be found in any religion. The subject is almost a cliché in Christendom, any yet the Bible is completely silent about it. The Karmic description of Heaven and Hell is actually far more complete and far from being absent.
