Destroying the Earth is harder than you may have been led to believe.
You've seen the action movies where the bad guy threatens to destroy the Earth. You've heard people on the news claiming that the next nuclear war or cutting down rainforests or persisting in releasing hideous quantities of pollution into the atmosphere threatens to end the world.

I've myself found out a couple effective methods:
THIS ONE HAS (I THINK) BEEN EXPLAINED IN THE WEBSITE

Step B) Wait

Step A) Blow up the moon into pieces with two solar-powered parallel oribiting particle beams
Step B) Drop up 25.000 cubic tons of elemental chlorine on the atmosphere AT ONCE.
Step C) For any practical purposes, the Earth IS the new Moon.
THIS TOO.

nothing is truly absolute. destroying the earth is such a vaguery, one is left with at least several viable definitions of how one would destroy it. Destroy it biologically? that's damn tough. Destroy it physically? while it sounds tough, cosmically speaking, this is an inevitability (when our sun goes supernova). Destroy it as we know it? this is truly philosophical and is as fragile, or as strong, as our imagination.
Here's something I've been chewing over for some time: There can be some arguments made that predict that a loss of a single plant (or animal) can wipe out an entire ecosystem. Ask yourselves... is this really a bad thing? For example, losing the entire Amazon basin to deforestation, while quite dramatic won't kill the earth outright. What may it do? hmm, a significant loss of plant life could cause a surge in carbon dioxide levels which in turn could elevate ambient temperatures globally. Such an event could then lead to polar ice cap melting and further accumulation of carbon dioxide because many land masses which harbor large plant life will also be marginalized (due to flooding). For land creatures, this may mean their extinction (plant and animal and everything else). But what about sea life??? do you think that an increase in water real estate will kill off sea life? sure salinity will drop, and some less tolerant species will die off. However, not all will, and those that survive will eventually adapt. Going back to the CO2 in the air, many carbon-dioxide microbes and aquatic plant life (those that survive the drop in salinity and so on) will have a feast with all the increased carbon dioxide. These populations will boom in biomass, and creatures that normally fed on them will also boom. Creatures that didn't feed on them may eventually adapt to... etc etc etc....
What I'm saying is: life will find a way. (please forgive the awful jeff goldblum quote- but really, it is as simple as that) Eventually new ecosystems and new life cycles and new energy sources will emerge. In any case, this earth will certainly be different... but not destroyed.
Earth is only a very tiny miniscue fragment in the space of the universe. Stars billionth of times the mass of earth have been completely deseminated without so much as a physical trace althought radiation suggest its existence. All it takes is a slight imbalance of quantum equilibrium for the destructive event(s) to be triggerred. More on this...
Very nice find, I found the article to be very interesting. I guess this is good news.
We have done much to destroy the earth.
I belive that if we live this way,the earth will be destroyed atuomaticly one day.No more effort needed. It is just a matter of time.Time will worn out everything.

That's just misleading. The guy is defining "The end of the world" as "Earth being turned into something other than a planet." When people say nuclear war will end the world, they mean civilization, which is good enough. That's all we really care about, anyway. If all of humankind & civilization is gone, it doesn't matter if there's a planet or a dustball left to us.

I will be happy once civilization is wiped out
Doesnt matter that I wont live.
Its better to destroy this damned planet and create a new one rather than living in this disgusting place.
We ve done everything from corruption to global warming to blow this planet
it is still standing.
Not for long hopefully.
it certainly seems we are doing a pretty good job of killing ourselves off as it is. The earth will rebuild itself once we are gone...all it takes is time, a luxery we (humans) will soon be lacking if things don't change.
For me, Earth is undestructable! Look how humans have been polluting, exploiting and blowing up everything to their heart's content, but this planet is still in its original appearance! (when seen from space)
I don't think this "hard ball" is gonna give up anytime soon.
All Humans must unite and try something NEW

then think of this, appearances can be decieving.
Also we could theoreticly destroy the world with nuclear missiles if they are all launched at the same time, some into the sea others into the air, others into the ground. Would it not be enough to kill the planet? I mean the united states has enough nuclear missiles to kill the world three times over, wouldn't it then make sense that we could perfectly fire all the nuclear missiles in the world to kill every piece of life there is?
hmmmmmmmm.........if we could instantly turn the earths inner core to gas...........BooM

theoretically I am sure it is possible to wipe out all life on the planet...but the Earth would still be here and given enough time would also heal itself. Then the whole process could start all over again afresh. Maybe the next generation of life here will be a bit smarter with conservation. I'd like to say that they would learn from our mistakes, but we would be gone and all of our history gone with us....no lessons available there.
EARTH is our PLANET.
NEVER EVEN THINK IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS TO DESTROY OUR PLANET.
think how can we protect it from destroying.
many theories have com that THE PLANET EARTH is coming to an END.
we need to think how can we remove that END and keep living happily on this MOTHER EARTH

Here's an ugly way to do it...
Get all the deepwater fishing fleets to join up and drag their nets in a row across the Atlantic, then Pacific, then Indian oceans. Have all the sea life they've caught brought up onto land and spread out over areas of desert.
No wait.
The sudden shift in fish populations will actually change the chemistry of the oceans (just think of the amount of plankton you've saved by removing so many fish!). This shift will result in major underwater extinctions and the rapid growth of plankton will kill off reefs as well.
The rotting fish lying out on the desserts will be a breeding ground for disease and its carriers (Insects, rats, birds).
After a while you've completely destroyed most ecosystems and rendered the seas a toxic soup.
Kisses!
Or you could set all the forests on fire at once. Not only would that raise the temperature enough to start icecaps melting, it will also raise the carbon-dioxide levels in the atmosphere while lowering the earth's ability to generate oxygen.
Or, launch a shade (doesn't have to be thick) into a solar orbit matching the Earth's. If it stays in sync with the orbit of the Earth it could easily block out the sun. Temperatures would drop drastically, photosynthesis would stop completely. Everything would die.
Q.E.D.
Maybe we can't destroy earth that easily...destroying all life isn't that hard if we continue this way.
Well personally I have heard quit a few theories on how to blow up the earth. i think the most successful way to blow it up is to drill three holes evenly spaced apart half way through the mantle and fill it with nuclear warheads. light them of at the same time and presto earth is gone.

Only one problem with that little theory, we can't even penetrate the earth crust let alone the mantle.
Ah, once again my undead friend makes his point apparent...
The deepest we've ever managed to drill is 12,000 metres (That's 12 km).
Now, I choose to believe that when you said 'Mantle' you meant 'Crust', but still the Earth's crust is 20-70 km thick (on land; under the oceans it's more like 5-10 km thick, but under quite a lot of water). If you wanted to drill to the center of the Earth's mantle (which is about 70% of the earth's volume), you'd have to drill to a depth of about 1,465 km. That's only 122 times the depth we've acheived so far.
I still think the quickest way would be to launch a solar shade.
yet unmentioned is the prospect of a matter-antimatter bomb. the article argues that the only way to destroy the earth with antimatter is to create an anti-earth and collide the two bodies. Incorrect. Matter/antimatter annihilation releases energy. In theory, a relatively small amount of antimatter could cause an explosion large enough to destroy the earth...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antimatter_weapon
Well, This depends... Do you mean destroy all living organizims on earth or the whole planet?
If you just want to kill everything, the US alone has enough nukes to do so.. Some bases have 50-100..
Pie is good
Leave it to the Americans they're doing a good enough job of ruining the environment I'm sure it won't be long before they figure out a way to completely destroy everything.

Don't say that were the only problem in this, that would be like saying germany was responsible for WW1 when in fact pretty much everyone besides germany was at fault.
If if if...
If we could do this... if you could find a way to do that... The fact is, we have no way to destroy the Earth. We probably could't even wipe out life as we know it.
But we could quite easily wipe ourselves out, so that's not really very comforting.
why so many peopel want to destroy the earth?

Good Formula..I think in this way we can destry more than one Earth in our Universe..
This is a quote: "Destroy it physically? while it sounds tough, cosmically speaking, this is an inevitability (when our sun goes supernova)."
I just wanted to say that our sun isn't big enough to ever go supernova. It is actually MANY times to small to go supernova.

Of coures it can't go super nova, but the fact is that it will still expand enough to boil away our oceans and kill all life on our planet. Who knows mabe the sheer heat of the expanded sun will litterly melt our planet back into molten rock and something will hit it causing it to explode.
Well, it may be any of the methods other people have mentioned here. But, if you are not in a big hurry then, wait for some time till futher large number of trees are cut down. Believe you me, earth will be destroyed soon after.

That would not destroy the world, and it would not destroy life as we know it either. A small population of humans would survive this shortage of air and the forests would re-grow and recover.
Tell you what, Aliens can't do that with their big beams. the only thing they can do is inciminate landmasses.
If you mean , how to destroy the life on earth? the answer is quite simple:
let humans continue to do what they are doing

That was my original quote (regarding the supernova). And thanks for setting me straight on things astrophysical. However, as this person has mentioned, it's not about splitting hairs. My point here is that our earth in this solar system has a finite lifespan that depends wholly on things that humans cannot influence. I cannot believe how many people believe, on wholesale, that wrecking the environment would be detrimental to earth. Hell no. That is too human-centric. I absolutely agree; humanity is certainly putting a strain on global ecosystems. One could argue, however, such a strain is just an accelerated stress which can cause the elimination of many species but will result in the survival of many other species 'fit' enough to endure these stresses. In any case, life will continue on this earth LONG after the last nuclear bomb goes off, LONG after the last petrochemical car spews out its toxicity in the air.
i think that no evil genius will ever figure out how to blow up the world in any of the ways (or other ways) stated, before we are destroyed by something else: like a huge asteroid, or the sun blowing up, or the mice destroying earth to build an intergalactic highway! Its like a game of pass the bomb - the earth's gunna blow up/we are going to die - its just a matter of time
Nice allusion to Mr. Adams' version of things! And yes I do agree, I think too many people spend too much time thinking of how awful humanity has become with respect to the environment... all in the comfort of their homes, while typing in their comments from their computer, while sipping their coffee from S. America... Don't get me wrong, I recycle as much as reasonably possible. I don't drive somewhere if I don't have to. But to think that I (collectively humanity), can actually stop the world from spinning... Well that's just egocentric.
--> And yes I do agree, I think too many people spend too much time thinking of how awful humanity has become with respect to the environment... all in the comfort of their homes, while typing in their comments from their computer,
If that were true maybe more would be done about it, are we supposed to protest from a cardboard box on the street in order to earn our right to say it.
I think it is only a waste of time to find a way how to destroy the earth. We have a hundred ways of doing it actually. In fact, we are already destroying it. All we have to do is just burn tires, drive gas-fueled car, cut trees or detonate nuclear bomb. I know it would take a while but eventually the earth become extremely hot that everything on it melts.
do you know there this is earth 2 ... but me and god had a fight and destroyed the first one but we felt bad so we built another 1 called earth 2..
easy way to destroy the planet - LET BUSH LOOSE WITH ALL HIS NUCLEAR WARHEADS
It will be easier to destroy the human life then the earth | Quote: |
| The Earth is built to last. It is a 4,550,000,000-year-old, 5,973,600,000,000,000,000,000-tonne ball of iron. It has taken more devastating asteroid hits in its lifetime than you've had hot dinners, and lo, it still orbits merrily. So my first piece of advice to you, dear would-be Earth-destroyer, is: do NOT think this will be easy. |
Yeah, that's true but the humans,....
But destroying the earth: just build a death star and blow the planet up!

Of course there is a way, but personally I think you will have to work very hard on it.
hmn, does it have to be the rock or just evey living thing on the planet, becasue a protovirus is not that hard to make and a evil gene is even easer to come by, ok lets see here, i say
a induced solar flare, will kill all the life
also if you blew up the planet it would reform within a decade, because of gravity, habitable, is debateable.
antimatter in true unless it was greater than the earths mass wouldnt destroy it the universe is divided in to cells of anti and kone(normal) matter there is a "cell wall" caused by annilation, its like a 10-lightyear wide neutral zone, don't ask me how its made read the book the big bang never happend so antimater would only destroy it if it were miraclously dump/created at the center of the earth, the earth as a planet is nigh indestrucable.
anyone for driving it into the sun?
So here is the theory as to our demise.
In the Beginning there was The World. The World wanted Plastic. So The World created Man. Man created Plastic. The World killed Man. In the end The World was happy.
I believed it will be the nuclear bombs that will destroy the earth in near future. As each countries become more and more developed they will intend to have a nuclear bombs to protect themselves if other countries have nuclear then each individual countries could also wish to have one and that way one day...if war breaks out between the countries they will use the bombs which will destory the earth for sure.....
We needn't do anything do destroy earth as it will be destroyed when judgement day comes??
Yeah, this is talking about completely breaking down the earth into... well, asteroids perhaps? Maybe some cool light show in the middle of space? Perhaps a sinking ball of iron into the surface of the sun?
Anyways, it doesn't account for the fact that we have the technology and weapons developed today to wipe out the human race, probably quite a few species of animals... pretty much all intelligent life.
Personally, I am a person that does not believe in murdering random living things for no good reason(unlike most humans). I dont really care HOW i destroy the earth, as long as the material from the earth is all left over and is possible to collect. Then, I would become either a religious leader or a nice-Stalin like person. In other words, I would give faith to people. Then, I would go and improve the economy of the people that I rule until they are totally dedicated to me + other people hear about the good life of my followers. Then, when somehere arund half the ppl in the world are my followers, I would collect somewhere around 8million ppl, and evacuate them from the earth just before i destroy it. Then I would build the ring mentioned in the article with my extremely advanced technology and resoursess, put the 8mil people onto the ring(along weith other animals that I collected)and recreate a perfect earth. then I would tell everything to reproduce, and become supreme Dictator.
You get yourself a perfect EARTH.
PS those ppl would be free of any genetic anomalies in theis DNA. In otherwords they would be angels. Anyone with a genetic anomaly would be executed quietly.
The only way to distroy earth is to let things as they are. It's like humans are programmed to distroy each over. Take a look over history and tell me I'm wrong. As the centuries past the number of casualties incresead.
That's a sad but true fact that we may be killing the earth. Look at the pollution and weather paterns that have been happening due to global warming.
I think that it might be possible to destroy earth...
If you want to destroy the entire life..... I think you will be able to do that.
For example, If there are no bee's in the world, life will be finished in 3 years... our ecosystem is very fragile....
Look how the sahara desert came....... Romans killed the lions .... the deers number became very large...... the forest became a desert..
| bsrkaditya wrote: |
| Look how the sahara desert came....... Romans killed the lions .... the deers number became very large...... the forest became a desert.. |
We're not talking about destroying the life on the earth but about destroying the earth (you know that giant lump of rock filled with lava)
Well, having a way to do it is quite easy. Just place a dwarf star/black hole next to it and it goes bye bye.
Dwarf stars (I do not know if this is a correct name in English, but anyway) have been know to suck out energy and matter from things as big as Supernovaes, being incredibly dense and having an astonishing gravity field. As for blackholes, you know what I'm talking of!
The problem with this "solution" is to create the said star/hole!
As for booming the earth in any fashion, it wouldn't be a true success: rock masses would split appart and make asteroïds and such, but certainly would remain. So the earth wouldn't be earth anymore, but would exist in the state of pieces... You'd have just split it, not destroyed it completely.
Today's pace of emission of toxic gases destroy our ecosystem. This is enough to destroy human race. What about nuclear weapons, wars...? by the time humans are destroyed by such methods we would have comfortable reduced the life of earth. The age is shrinking and it is getting faster.
That is a really cool site, I have something to read tonight be suure. And to thinmk about
htanks frihost!!
Global warming and politics are just about to destroy it, there is no reason to be conversing on this one.
wat the hell I know this is just fun and games but the end of a livable earth is near, we really should try and help the earth not plot on a forum about how we can destroy it!
drop some nuclear weapons or h-bombs and that's it

you can look now, maybe saomeday they will using nuclear like nagasaki and hiroshima, and if this time come, i think earth will be destroy
no it won't..................earth is just too big to be destroyed thru war!!!
The first thing that came to my mind when I saw the title was anti-matter. Anti-matter is so powerful, even by just the name you can sense how powerful it is. It's anti-matter. It's anti-"anything that occupies space and has weight".

yes... This seems to be a cool way to destroy the planet Earth.
But maybe we could divert the trajectory of the moons of other planets using enough nukes, we could crash them to our planet and using more nukes to guide their moons' path. That would clearly be an awesome sight.
