How to make my own web/ftp server

Hi

First of all i want to say im not sure of the place of this post, but i couldnt find a better place

I want to use some old pc (350mhz,128mb,6gb) as an web- and ftpserver.
Now is the biggest problem i think our modem (SpeedTouch 510, Software Release: 4.3.2.6.0)

Can somebody please describe which os to use, which programs and how to configure the modem. I have been look for some good manuals, but i couldnt much that helped me.
