If you know AutoCAd well i need your help. I have problem with opening particular drawing. When i open it it takes about 2 minutes to open, in the bottom left corner I noticed this "text formatting". Does any body have any suggestion to fix this problem.
Thank you for help!!

It's probably saved as a .dxf file or a very old version. Open it, then save it again as the default AutoCAD setting (.dwg). It'll open much faster this way.

the problem is that this is a .dwg format.

Is it a very old-format dwg file? Like R14 or earlier?

The newer versions of AutoCAD save files much more efficiently. Even though it's a dwg file, try doing FILE > SAVE AS... and call it drawing2.dwg. Now shut down AutoCAD and try to open drawing2.dwg - is it any faster?

sorry but i do not have this drawing with me. it is at my work. i did exactly what you suggested and it was still the same problem. it takes a lot of time to do some sort of "text formatting" i am assuming that it has to do with fonts.
any idea??

I haven't used ACAD in a while, but you could try exporting just what you need into a new file and save it. Or do a purge all (I'm not even sure if this is still a command) I used autocad v9-2000 and Mechanical Desktop 1st version - 3rd version.

All cad systems seem to do this from time to time. I use Catia, UG, and Tebis and they all need to be cleaned up on occasion, especially when importing IGES files from customers.

What is the drawing size (in Kb terms)? What does the drawing consist of? Is it a stand-alone drawing, or is it full of xrefs and links to network locations?

It's also possible that the text formatting could be causing problems if it has been made using a character set other than the computer's default - is this the case? Again, it could have used a non-standard font that your computer has to process each time the file is opened.

try using the absolute newest .dwg format, or, if all else fails, the absolute oldest (R12 .dxf).

Also, remove any text from the drawing. that might help.
