.htaccess for php

I wasn't able to use .htaccess to turn of register globals, why not?

Is this the line?
Code:
php_flag register_globals off

If there is whitespace in front of it I find that the odd time it doesn't work.

Hi,
register_globals is already turned off on Server 1 (which you are on). See http://www.frihost.com/phpinfo.php (frihost.com is itself hosted on server 1)
