Auto redirect.

I have been playing with a site that has flash on various pages.
The problem I have is this............... If the viewer doesn't have a flash plugin in their browser I want to automaticaly change a flash file into, say a gif version.

Now this works on my PC (IE and Maxthon) but if I upload it to a server it doesn't!

I have a similar script to auto redirect to diferent page if no flash, same happens with this.

Any ideas please?

Im interested in your solution. I'd do it as follows:
Make an onload redirect on the page with a few moments delay. If the flash movie is loaded a javascript value is changed so no redirect takes place.
Is this similar to your solution?
