Post here your favorite CMS(content manager system) and why.
Mine is joomla.
Reasons:
Frindly Beckend
Looks Professional
Fast
I can use external SMTP server(i cant do it in php-nuke)
I can use the forum i want( smf, phpbb) Is more easy then Php-Nuke...
This is some reasons.
And you's?
I am all out for DragonflyCMS (AKA: CPGNUKE). Eventhou, it's only about a year or so old, this CMS is real good.
Reason:
No known security loophole.
Looks Professional.
you can use either SMTP or PHP Mailer.
Theming Template is a lot more better than most.
Easy to manage and install.
You can integrate other scripts like Gallery2 from Menalto with ease.
And a lot more.....

All right!
Same for me
I got out of the use of CMSes a while ago and have started coding my sites entirely on my own. However before I did this I used PHP-Nuke, Post-Nuke and MD-Pro.
PHP-Nuke
Not many pro's here but a large amount of con's
Very resource intensive
Seperate logins for your site user and the admin account
Poor integration of phpBB with PHP-Nuke
and many more
Post-Nuke
This fixed alot of the problems with PHP-Nuke
Very Secure
Easily skinable and extendable
One login for your site user and admin account
Fast, Lightweight
MD-Pro
This was the best I have used.
Pros
Based on Post-Nuke
All Post-Nuke modules work with it
Excellent Support
Extremely lightweight
Easy to skin yourself
Excellent forums, known as MD-Forums which are based on phpBB.
and there are hardly any cons.
So based on all this if i had to choose I would choose MD-Pro because i just loved using it. It was extremely user friendly, and fast.
Hello!
I'm interested to use a content management system, but I didn't decide for one of them... however, I think that PostNuke is good enough....
I'd like much enough Drupal too...
I'll probably use one of them... I'll say to you about this later...
Good bye!!!
I like php nuke. I got everything.
I beg to differ... I've ran my site many a time using Post-Nuke, but it was hacked all the time. I got the link off my G4 sig and the hacking stopped.
I don't like ANY(emphasis on any) PHP based CMS at all. I like Coranto, a perl based one. Why?
- It's completely extensible. I can use it for a downloads section, a news section, a links section, a tutorials section and for easy updating.
- Easy integration. Simply server side include a text file or use a MySQL database.
- Highly customiseable. Your website is designed exactly like you want it. You can exted coranto very easily.
- Faster than a PHP CMS. Just type your update(or have a form on the site for anonymous updates), and it will be part of an included text file or MySQL database for you PHP users. No parsing for the visitor to wait for.
e107 and Mambo. Easy, powerfull and professional-looking.
=)
My e107 site is already on, now I intend to do something with Mambo.

Thank you for your sugestion!...
I didn't try these content management systems, but I'll try them very very soon... It's, I hope, a good idea..
Your own. By far. Out of the common ones, Mambo.
Favorite forum: http://ekinboard.com. I use this board now and it is awesome!
Hello all!!!
I'd be very curious if there is here a blind user tho be tried a content management system and that of them looks more accessible for this category of users...
I tried "WordPress" and another some, but I didn't find something very accessible...
I'd like very much "Php-Nuke" or "PostNuke", but these looks very difficult to manage...
Thank you for your information and I wish you all a good afternoon!!!
If you have the skills to create your own then it is by far the better option, I make my own because for some sites I was limited CMS capabilities and others I want alot more. Integrating with PHPBB is the only frustrating thing I come across because their login is different to mine.

Yes, I'd like to have the skills to create my own content management system, but I don't have it...
But this may be later... I hope... For this moment, I'm trying "Php-Nuke" and I think that it will be good enough and accessible for me...
Thank you for your sugestion!...
I've only had experiece with two content management systems: PostNuke and Mambo. Out of the two, I'd have to say that PostNuke is my favorite. It's much easier to manage than Mambo, and I only have to login once. (IIRC, I had to login to my regular account, and them login to my admin account on Mambo.) I also like the easy integration of phpBB into PostNuke (PNphpBB). PostNuke was also very cutomizable.
Initially it was xoops for me. Later on i moved to Mambo, and in turn Joomla.
For the time being, I believe Joomla is the best CMS available. Extremely customizable, many themes, mods, better integration with amny other services, nice backend. The only minus i found is that it's a little bit heavy.

Yes, I like "Post Nuke" too and I know that it is very integration and very customisable, but I didn't find a "GuestBook" for it...
Also, I didn't find a "Photo Gallery" for it... and I must say to you that I need these both...
Good bye!!!

I like very much "Mambo", but, for me, this is not too accessible... Thank you!!!
i use Mambo. i think it easy to use. and have a lot of module and template.
I use XOOPS and MovableType.
XOOPS is simple and use meny modules.
MovableType is weblog cms system.

i use Mambo. i think it easy to use. and have a lot of module and template.

Yes, I agree with you, but I already said that I like very much this content management system... but, because I am blind and I'm using a screen reader, this cms "Mambo" is not too accessible for me... I'm sory!...
Thank you for your post!!!

I've tried some like php-nuke, post-nuke, wordpress, maboo etc. This time I use drupal for my site. I find it is very nice. It use a very simple structure to manage all type of documents. It has lots of modules, themes and still grow up fast now.
You may download it from http://www.drupal.org. The site itself use drupal.

Good bye!!!
PHP-Fusion is very good CMS for you web site. It has very much good functions, and it's very easy and stable.
A little known one called TextPattern is for me. I like it since it is flexable, fast, easy to maintain once you've set it up, simple, and extendable using plug-ins. It also has a steady base of resources and users. It may be a bit brutal to learn, with pages, styles, forms, articles, its own syntax, and what-not, but it is the best thing since the internet when it's nice and set up.
I prefer to make my own - I love the feeling of accomplishment, and it feels cool to be like "wow, I made this all by myself!".
Plus, you can construct really simple ones using PHP and text files.

Mambo and Joomla are all very good CMS.
But I think it's hard to use.
Anyone knows some greate CMS easy to use, tell me?
I just started working with a CMS and I use PHPNuke. I like working with this CMS becauses I think it's easy to handle and you can also make websites with many features in a few steps. I haven't tried other CMS yet but I think PHPNuke isn't that bad as a lot of people say.

ya i m totally agreed with ya...i tried another too but think its the best
My favorite cms i joomla.
Joomla is very easy for administration.
Joomla have very mods/hack.
Joomla is the best cms
Are there Free CMS on the net that is really good?
I tried Joomla and I was not at all impressed. There weren't many themes, administration was easy but more complicated than it needs to be, and they put so many advertisements on your website that its not even worth it.
The best experience I've had so far is with PHP-Nuke and MkPortal.

Hi there,
You´re wrong there...
You can find just on www.joomlaos.de around 1000+ Templates and houndreds of add-ons. It´s up to you if you want advertising on your site or not, only on the first installation (with the standard template) you have some banners on your site.
last time I'm using Joomla, it's easy to use, and friendly user. Many theme to choose and I love it. But right now I'm using php-fusion, more faster than joomla. I dont know why my host loading so slow when I'm using Joomla.
i've been researching cms systems and from reviews i've concluded that the following systems are worth checking out:
joomla
drupal
google it if you want more information
CPGNUKE
Reasons:
No known security loophole.
Looks Professional.

Theming Template is a lot more better than most.

coppermine galley installed
phpbb2 forums with ataccment mod installed
hig performance, low resouces using system.
SECURITY,
AUTO UPDATER
CVS Versions
Secure Modules
before i use Joomla!, my favorite CMS is PostNuke, i use this CMS at 2 years ago
at now i think Joomla is the best CMS (in my opinion), have a much extension and great support from joomla forum.
I use Joomla! Favorite cms is PHP-Nuke
Ive used joomla and PHPNuke
And Joomla is the best one for the reasons everyone has stated as I don't admit to being a webby expert but I thought joomla was pretty easy to configure
I've used many CMSes, and I used to like them until I realized it was just a cheap shortcut, and not as easy to make a nice unique custom look as making a PHP page in dreamweaver. Nowadays I just put in some news with a MySQL database using PHPmyadmin. bIt's all I really need for my site to be a-go-in.
cutenews is my favorite because it is textdatabase fully customizable.. free
| uslhoops wrote: |

I prefer Typo3 because you have the best control and many users, who develop extensions for nearly everything. Also you can use one installation for different domains (for example also for a domain domain.com and its subdomains sub1.domain.com...)
I have used the following...
joomla
blog cms
geeklog
runcms
Right now I am employing Drupal and I think I might stick to it for a while. For one thing, it is easy to handle. The distro is not too big and it is easy to install.
I am yet to try it but see this www.etomite.org
Has anyone used it yet?

e107 is free. i use it and like mine alot.
To branch this topic off a little, those people that are saying they currently use their favorite CMS........would you mind posting your site link so that when we'r e reading your comments we can view your site to see it's capability?
Hello everybody, I am a new user. I would like to use Mambo to build my webpage, I heard it is good enough. So to the question: I use Mambo.
mY Vote goes to WORDPRESS ,
And i say , dont quarell , it being a Blog Engine , it can do as anything and it does great as a CMS .
The thing is with choosing the right plugins .
The lot of Themes it has , along with the right plugins , and lite themes can get u the best sites online , with chick interface and Flexibility with efficiency .
I am using CMS Made Simple for my projects. It was a little bit searching before, but know I fell I found.
+ VERY easy styling of pages, using smarty templates.
+ friendly comunity in forum.
+ many interesting modules
+ automatic generation of menu
my favorite content management system is e107 because it is easy to use and it loads fast when i use it.
bitweaver is very complex but easy to use and the best looking cms available now. I prefere Joomla, Jupiter Content Manager and SBlog for blogging.
One of the great things about Fantastico is that you can try out all these amazing CMS's with just a few clicks - I'd never have experimented if I'd had to work out how to install them myself in the beginning. But when you begin to try things out you find most things are simpler than you'd have imagined...
I began with PHPNuke but found it surprisingly hard to get the look I wanted and the font size seemed way too small (now I'd probably be able to change it). Though there seem to be some interesting add-on features ("club" component). phpWCMS seemed fairly limited. PostNuke seemed a bit clinical and no gripping templates - several of the support sites seemed to have clossed down.
I got quite involved with Drupal ( no longer available via Fantastico...?) which seemed to do what I needed in a relatively simple way, but I preferred the style of Mambo. Unfortunately I had lots of technical problems with Mambo and the support forums seemed under-populated and not hugely supportive. But via those forums I discovered Joomla a couple of months ago - and haven't looked back.
Out of the CMSs I've tried Joomla is certainly the most sophisticated, has a wide range of really good templates - especially the Rocket Themes ones, lots of additional components and plug-ins and a really active community who respond promptly to questions. the iJoomla magazine component makes it much easier to change the look of pages, and is about to get much better. Joomla seems to have a buzz about it which is energising. Also it seems to work really well for SEO even without metatags.
My site(s) aren't quite finished but I will post urls when they are.
Even my 8 yr old son is setting up a Joomla site on his passion for dinosaurs - which demonstrates how easy it is to use!
Drastic
the best free cms is joomla
the best paid cms is datelife engine
i think the best is DotNetNuke , because it is fast and an opensource
base .NET
however you can find the best rating on :
http://www.opensourcecms.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=388&Itemid=143
good luck
Hello,
I think that each CMS has a good points and of course his bad ones! It also depends on what kind and content of website we are going to build.
Personnaly, i use Xoops, PhpNuke and Joomla recently, but for the easy one, Xoops gets my vote.
Regards,
Right now im using joomla+moodle, its for school
Moodle is for e-learning.
I like use phpcms--Supersite,www.supersite.com!
I also have used manbo.
simply the best of all for me, "e107" e107.ORG
I am currently evaluating these CMS (SPIP, Joomla or MODx) and did not make any choice yet. What I llok for is
simplicity for the editors when site is online
theme available and with a profesional /not techy look

| myzul wrote: |

Are you using an integrated combination of Joomla with Moodle? I heard that integration was planned some months ago but had not seen any further info about it. Would be good to know how it works if you have found a way to combine them.
Thanks!
